Mar 20, 2010I recently had a repair done to my iphone. Afterword, I was told that I had to restore the os. I downloaded and installed the latest version (3.1.3) through itunes.
When it attempted to activate the phone I got an error message saying the phone either had no sim or the sim was locked and instructing me to disconnect the phone and unlock the sim.
My sim does have a pin, but the phone itself won't allow me to unlock it. It says 'restore needed' and directs me to itunes.
It seems like a catch 22 - can't activate without unlocking the pin, can't unlock the pin without activating. As it is, I can't use the phone at all.

Apr 21, 2012So suddenly my iphone told me it could not emit or receive calls and that I needed to restore the phone; this I attempted to do, following the apple site's instructions - recharge for at least half an hour then hold down (various) buttons to get the broken apple image; so far, so good. However, nothing ever progressed beyond this point and now three days on, I am nable to elicit even the apple sign from the phone.

Jun 23, 2012My 2 year old iphone 4 was around 38% battery when I closed my eyes. (TV nap)
When I opened my eyes, the apple logo was showing. It repeatedly reboots. If I use a wall power adapter I can get logged in and look around for maybe a minute before it crashes and starts over.
While it is up, no phone service is available. The PHONE icon has a huge red dot on it. Online support database suggests charging it. But the battery shows as 100%, plugged in. If I remove the power cable, it immediately dies and is non-responsive.

May 15, 2012My iPhone stopped charging right after it said I needed to update to the 5.1.1 software. Anyone else having these problems. I had my phone plugged into the charger it was on like 20 % it charged up untill it said I needed to update my software to 5.1.1 and never charged from then on. I tried different chargers and even brought it into apple. They were no help.

Hard Reboot Needed On IPhone 4s With Broken Lock Button

Feb 7, 2010I have finally solved the issue of setting you the BBC iplayer so it asks you how you would like to connect when you run the application rather then it always by default connecting to the service provider in my case (orange).
Step 1 - download the newest software update for the N97 you will need software version V 20.0.019 software version date is 13-10-09.
Step 2 - download the latest BBC iplayer version this should be version 2.5.0(141).
Step 3 - from the phone go to menu then go to web once opened go to options then settings once in settings go to general and set access point to ask when needed.
Step 4 - from menu go to Videos & TV go to option in Video and TV then settings and set network connection to ask when needed if its not already set to this.
Step 5 - from menu go to settings then connectivity then destinations then internet and set your required WIFI connection to priority 1.
Step 6 - from menu go to applications then open realplayer then settings then go to streaming settings then network and the access point in use should display your required WIFI connection e.g. mine shows my home network talktalk. If your required network is not displayed then open the access point in use and select the required WIFI connection.
Step 7 - turn your phone off and take out the battery for 2mins then turn your phone back on.
Step 8 - when the phone turns on and the phone displays select connection you should see internet underneath it should be displayed your WIFI connection. Do not select anything. Instead go to options then go to select access point and choose your service provider e.g. orange Internet.
Step 9 - once your phone is set-up and all widgets are set all you have to do to use BBC iplayer is go to options on the home screen select content to offline mode then content to online mode then open the BBC iplayer. The phone will then ask for a connection select your wifi connection and your away.
i hope the above steps help you and work as they worked for me just remember after you do the 8 steps above you only need to repeat step 8 everytime you wish to use BBC iplayer.

Nov 2, 2011This is a software issue, for sure. I've removed battery, sim, memory, still no power up. New battery in shop fully charged put in, still no power up. Phone call to O2 will replace in the morning.ooking at the boards, theres a common issue out there. Software, not hardware.So I tried following a Blackberry 7 upgrade offered by the Desktop manager, which incidently recognised I had a 9860 - so something is talking! - Unable to reconnect to the device during a multi-stage load operation. is the only result I get as I've followed the Device Software update , Bundle 1645 is being offered but it fails the install .At the start it downloads 497 modules, then startsErasing applications(!!). But fails on the next stage.I also read that connecting the 9860 and pressing ctrl + alt + del would active the phone, all it did (even that was surprising) was let me see a Battery sign on the screen. However interesting that was it soon disappeared.

I am looking to change to a different provider because they offer EDGE (yes, over here we are lucky to even get EDGE networks). I was told by the sales rep that in order for my Blackberry to connect to EDGE network that I must have OS version 4.6. I believe the 8320 cannot go past 4.5 unless I am mistaken. This phone was connected to EDGE when I was in the States with T-mobile. I am not even sure why the OS version would have any effect on it anyhow. Could someone shed some light on this and tell me whether it sounds factual? May 9, 2012After puchasing my iphone 4s last Sunday, the very first thing I noticed out of the box was that I needed to reconnect to my "home" wifi network constantly. After browsing the infinite amount of discussions regarding this issue, I realized this is not an isolated issue with my hardware. Monday, I attempted a connect to my "work" wifi network, and had absolutly no problems all day long. I determined that the only difference between wifi networks relating to my iphone was the wireless security setting.My home wifi was originally setup as WEP, my work wifi is currently setup as WPA2.Tuesday, I accessed my wifi router settings (Linksys wrt54g)> udpated wireless security settings from WEP to WPA2.Problem solved.Since I was not able to track down any easy solutions to this problem within all of the ongoing discussions, I wanted to share this info.

Oct 27, 2015dkotoric has realised this is due to using the double tap to sleep function on some launchers. Locking your device with that prevents the fingerprint scanner from allowing access for some reason. So today was my first full day with the 6P. It's a truly great device. A whole bunch of times though when I've come to unlock the device I've had to put in my pattern because it won't accept the fingerprint scanner.
The icon at the bottom of the lock screen that should be a fingerprint is just a lock symbol. If I then lock the phone again and reunlock it works as expected. Not sure if this is a software bug or some setting I've got wrong. Can't see a pattern for when it does it though. I've switched 'require pattern on restart' off which has made no difference.
