HTC Sensation XE :: Extreme Data Usage And System Process Eating Battery?
Nov 12, 2011
i've got my Sensation XE 2 weeks now... and its a very nice phone, but some things are oddly wrong :S
first thing is, i looked at 3G watchdog thismorning, and my device had been eating 200 MB's of internet WHILE I WAS SLEEPING this is not normal use and i have no clue what caused it (i installed 3g watchdog pro this morning)
second thing is, my android system process seems to be eating away battery life rapidly, its using up to 40% cpu (according to watchdog) and com.htc.bg is using roughly 20% okay, i just saw something happening, i restored a backup, watched my cpu, and then my virus scanner said something about com.android.vending being installed, and i saw my android system process skyrocket in cpu usage
yes, i have rooted my phone, and yes i deleted some system applications (like facebook, htc facebook, and some other crappy useless stuff, nothing that should harm my phone)
My wife and I have identical D4s. My battery life is fine, but her battery life is significantly shorter than mine due to a process named RILD, which from the Battery Stats is consuming a lot of battery. Weird because my D4 doesn't show this process running.I have done some basic web research and discovered it is the Radio Layer Interfaceon why it keeps coming on, staying on and how to stop it in a kind and gentle manner.
I believe this is a built-in feature in Android (or at least available with an app, or maybe from rooting, I can't recall from my Nexus days)...But is there an iphone app that can track data usage down to which app (or process) was using the data? My iphone is hemorrhaging data overnight, and I need to find out what is causing it...
I have been using excessive amounts of data 6gig month for an average user. I installed an app to show me whats consuming the data and at an alrming rate, it's a process called Rich ClipboardWhat is this and how do I stop it from using so much data? it's killing my battery!!!
I generally don't have trouble getting through a work day with my S6, but I do wonder whether the Android utilization is high. During a typical day (1 - 2 hours SOT, 14-15 hours off charger), I'm burning about 60%-70% of total battery, 30% of which is Android System (~22%) and Android Kernel (~8%). Google Play and other apps are all typically < 5%. Is this normal, or does this indicate that a factory reset might be a good idea? On previous phones I don't recall core Android being this high (usually <10%).
I have a aggravating problem that started about a month ago. My phone and battery are not communicating. I am running 5.0 It began one day, I thought I was getting great battery life. It turned out the indicator was stuck at 56% . Now it just stays at 100% . Battery life is normal, I can go all day. How much battery is left. When it's done it dies.
When I go to Battery in settings it says battery data not available. I am sure this is a software issue. Whether it is a app or the OS? After the factory reset I was very careful about what I installed. Recently installed Battery Dr. It stays at 100% as well.
Here is what I've tried. 1. Bought a new battery. This seemed to correct at first, but now both battery act the same. 2. Did a factory date reset. Again this seemed to be the fix. But the issue came back. 3. Wiped the data cache. No real change.
Last night i put my phone on the charger and when I unplugged it in the morning the battery symbol showed 100% but still showed the charging symbol and stated it was charging. When I tapped on the battery symbol is had the graph but stated "battery usage data isn't available". I shut down/re-started and it still shows "battery usage data isn't available". How can I get things back to normal.
Having unexplainable data use lately. My mobile share plan just got obliterated for this month. The local WP guru at my ATT shop and I went through and blocked maybe 6 or so apps, nothing unusual, just twitter, weather channel, crackle(for sure not running) and a couple of others. We suspect one of these apps was doing something but we were not able to nail down the suspect app.
Since getting the Atrix2 I have had no software issues or Forced Closes. This evening I woke the phone up, slid the Lock Bar to the right and here is what I get:The process com.motorola.process.system has stopped unexpectedly, Please try again,Force Close.Once I push "Force Close I can get the phone to function, however the same screen keeps coming up at random, also each time i slide the Lock Bar, I get the window or warning immediately. It happens consistently when the screen times out and you use the lock bar, slid to the right, and you instantly get the warning screen.I have also tried a few of the programs and when you access them i get the warning window. Anyone have any ideas as to what exactly is going on? No Downloads done today, just email, plume and some music.Ive done several Power Off/on cycles, It doesnt seem to want to go away?
My data usage on my iphone 4s has all of a sudden increased and my battery life wont last longer than half a day to a day, i dont know if there is some kind of virus that is forcing downloads or is it an error with the ios?
I've been experiencing this problem for the past 3 days and went to my provider today to ask about. My phone has been running extremely slow, the hour clock thing is forever running, and as a result my phone dies in about 3 to 4 hours with no real use. I was told it was because i need to update my OS but when I came home and plugged it in it says that my phone is up-to-date and there is no OS upgrade available. i bought a replacement battery to see if that was the problem and it is not. this is becoming quite frustrating. it has even gotten to the point of when i lock the phone i cant unlock it over even get the screen to turn on. the only way to turn it on is to pull the battery out
I upgraded my SK17i to the latest ICS 4.1.B.0.587 and there is extream battery drain while the phone is on stand by. I tried repairing the phone and reflashing with flashtool, still the same problem persists. see the below screenshots. The phone has been idle (No use at all) and the time without signal is 0%. what we need above all advanced features is EXCELENT BATTERY LIFE! what you have done to make the battery drain faster?
No tabs open, done nothing in it since being off the charger last night.I have been doing a lot in my desktop Chrome today - possibly constantly syncing?
I'm using Go Launcher Ex and Juice Defender now. My battery life had improved a little but...Even when the screen is off and I'm not using the phone, Phone Idle takes up most of the energy while in that state. Last night Phone Idle was on 6:51:43 while the phone was off of the battery for 7:53:53.On top of this, the phone is awake almost all night. It does drain only a little bit at night.During use Phone Idle still is on much of the time. My phone drains rapidly when the screen is on.The phone has signal all day and night. I'm in a good coverage area.My questions are: Is it normal for the phone to be awake when not in use for most of the time when not in use? Should Phone Idle be on most of the time when the phone has consistent good signal?
My husband and I both have the iPhone 3GS. My husband's phone however will count on the phones data usage 20mb over night while it is charging and on our wifi. it is counting this towards his 3g usage and not wifi. We have already had APPLE reset everything at the store. it is still doing it. so he has to turn off all cellualar data usage at night or it keeps racking up the usage even though it is on our wifi. I plug my phone in at night as well and mine is not doing this
Does anybody know if the phones navigation speaker voice can be set to be heard via bluetooth in the cars audio system? (as the I have with the other phone functions)
I was listening to my music on my phone from a downloaded free app. The screen when black and now I keep getting a message "Process system isn't responding, do you want to close? Wait or Ok. Then the phone keeps shutting off and on with the same message, I have a lot of pictures and I'm afraid I'm going to lose everything. Is there any way around this?
I brought my nexus 5 for almost a year now. yesterday, i was charging my phone via a PC and after disconnecting it from the PC it just started to heatup near the camera area. It became so hot that I was not able to keep in my pocket. Then I tried opening up the dailer to call my friend but it just showed "Process system isn't responding do you want to close it?"
THEN I tried several other apps and these showed up: unfortunately, MTP app stopped
unfortunately, Media Storage has stopped
unfortunately, Settings has stopped
unfortunately, Google play services has stopped
then I tried factory reset but not improvement. during the signin page in the beginning it said Google account manager stopped working, then again process system isn't responding. I tried factory imaging from 4.4.4 kitkat to 5 lollipop. No improvement.
I believe there are some corrupted files that might have updated automatically. i dont want to pay $200 and wait for 3 weeks to get it fixed
Yesterday I had a process that started running and draining my battery. It appeared in the battery usage as "rild". There have been other posts here and in other android forums about this same phenonemon happening. I shut down, it ended the process and hasn't reappeared today, but it seems this is happening with Motorola phones, not just the RAZR?
Starting yesterday I have seen the above message 3 times. The only thing I have changed on the phone was to enable Motocast yesterday. Also, I replaced the 16GB SD card with a 32GB SD card, early last week. I've only had the phone for about a month. I have been able to power the phone off and reboot and get the phone functioning again. Last night it took 2 reboots before the phone became functional again. What can I look for to determine whats causing the error?
how do I disable data completely avoid data usage and only keep wifi. I have Background Data in Off and wi-fi connected, but I still getting charged for data usage.
I checked out my data usage on the att website and it turns out surprisingly that i consistently use under 200mb a month.
1. I beejive im every work day for at least 2 hours on edge(don't tell my boss) but it suprisingly only comes out to only about 4mbs per day (if i used 3g would the data consumption be higher?)
2. I maybe use slingplayer 1 day a month on 3g (sad) about 10mbs i think
3. I grab email manually by opening up the mail app maybe twice a day max.
Do you think i should switch asap? or is it best recommended to view iphone 4 data usage first in case i upload 720p video (which i doubt they will let you do)
Since 2/23, I have had massive data usage at random times. 1GB here and there, sometimes in the middle of the night. My Data Sense shows that the "Restore data" app has used 8.17 GB in the last two days. All of my other apps are using negligible amounts of data. What is the "Restore data" app, and how do I tell it to stop using so much data?
One additional bit of info: 2/23 was also the date that the Microsoft Health app updated. I use a MS Band. It seems like there may have been some type of update pending on the band. When I called Verizon's tech support, they said that the pending update might have something to do with the massive data usage. We completed the update to the Band, and they said to give it another day to see if the data usage continues. What this "Restore data" app is, it doesn't sound like it has anything to do with the Band.
I was restoring a twrp backup and when it reaches "flashing system image" in the restore process it just reboots. Ive tried a few things but cant get it going. It just bootloops.
I have t-mobile as my provider, and I have their new limited $15/month data plan with my HTC HD2.I was wondering whether I can use wifi without data usage going towards my data plan.I expect that the 200MB limit will be reached pretty quickly if I cannot use wifi to balance things out.
I am running stock 5.1.1 on my Nexus 5, and have recently noticed reduced battery life. When running Quick System Info PRO, I see that "system_server - BluetoothPhoneService" is constantly consuming anywhere from 15-60% cpu, usually 20-30%. I have tried restoring all the Google factory ROMs one by one, starting with 5.0 (LRX21O) up to 5.1.1 (LMY48I), yet the issue persists. Toggling Bluetooth doesn't work and Bluetooth functions normally when needed, but is usually kept off.
