View 1 RepliesI've been experiencing this problem for the past 3 days and went to my provider today to ask about. My phone has been running extremely slow, the hour clock thing is forever running, and as a result my phone dies in about 3 to 4 hours with no real use. I was told it was because i need to update my OS but when I came home and plugged it in it says that my phone is up-to-date and there is no OS upgrade available. i bought a replacement battery to see if that was the problem and it is not. this is becoming quite frustrating. it has even gotten to the point of when i lock the phone i cant unlock it over even get the screen to turn on. the only way to turn it on is to pull the battery out
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy wife and I have identical D4s. My battery life is fine, but her battery life is significantly shorter than mine due to a process named RILD, which from the Battery Stats is consuming a lot of battery. Weird because my D4 doesn't show this process running.I have done some basic web research and discovered it is the Radio Layer Interfaceon why it keeps coming on, staying on and how to stop it in a kind and gentle manner.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm using Go Launcher Ex and Juice Defender now. My battery life had improved a little but...Even when the screen is off and I'm not using the phone, Phone Idle takes up most of the energy while in that state. Last night Phone Idle was on 6:51:43 while the phone was off of the battery for 7:53:53.On top of this, the phone is awake almost all night. It does drain only a little bit at night.During use Phone Idle still is on much of the time. My phone drains rapidly when the screen is on.The phone has signal all day and night. I'm in a good coverage area.My questions are: Is it normal for the phone to be awake when not in use for most of the time when not in use? Should Phone Idle be on most of the time when the phone has consistent good signal?
View 3 Replies View Relatedi've got my Sensation XE 2 weeks now... and its a very nice phone, but some things are oddly wrong :S
first thing is, i looked at 3G watchdog thismorning, and my device had been eating 200 MB's of internet WHILE I WAS SLEEPING this is not normal use and i have no clue what caused it (i installed 3g watchdog pro this morning)
second thing is, my android system process seems to be eating away battery life rapidly, its using up to 40% cpu (according to watchdog) and com.htc.bg is using roughly 20% okay, i just saw something happening, i restored a backup, watched my cpu, and then my virus scanner said something about com.android.vending being installed, and i saw my android system process skyrocket in cpu usage
yes, i have rooted my phone, and yes i deleted some system applications (like facebook, htc facebook, and some other crappy useless stuff, nothing that should harm my phone)
Just upgraded from an S4 where I could set sync schedule to every 5 mins. Now told minimum possible is 15 mins or else have to set to manual. Used to be able to rely on mobile for alerts re important emails if away from computer and be able to get immediate updates as soon as turning back on after meetings etc. Is there any way around this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedYesterday I had a process that started running and draining my battery. It appeared in the battery usage as "rild". There have been other posts here and in other android forums about this same phenonemon happening. I shut down, it ended the process and hasn't reappeared today, but it seems this is happening with Motorola phones, not just the RAZR?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have noticed that since my latest upgrade on my AT&T Galaxy S5 that my Calendar was not automatically syncing. I did find how to turn the syncing back on and how to choose what Google function to sync or not, but I have not found anywhere on the phone where I can adjust how often the syncing should take place. Like most people I would prefer to have this happen with some sort of time frequency so as to not use up too much of my data.

If I go into the "Mobile Network Engineering Screens" menu and then into "Cell Information..." the bandmode is set to "GSM850" which is causing me to get SOS. How do I change the bandmode to GSM900? I've tried clicking on GSM800 and selecting "All" but when I back to the menu and then back into Cell Information it changes back to GSM850.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to set the gmail sync setting. All I can figure out is that the sync is either auto on or off.
The other email accounts have settings for sync frequency and are easy to manage but I cannot find any way to control the frequency of gmail syncing.
Just bought the V10, setup everything that I had on my Note 3, including my Gmail account. Now Gmail does not notify immediately when an email arrives. I've gone into the Google account settings, and do not see anywhere where I can set the frequency of syncs. How to get it to instantly notify me of incoming emails?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm an engineer, and a collegue of mine has a friend (tedious link I know!) who works for a mobile phone manufacturer as an engineer. His take on the whole atenna issue is the following:
1. Sticking your hand over the join between the atennae short circuits them (we all knew this!)
2. The short circuit causes the two small antennae to form one much larger one (obvious I know...bear with me!)
3. This larger antenna has a different frequency to the small one.
4. The phone detects this and switches between frequencies.
Sounds simple in practice, but apparently it takes an age for the software to switch between the two frequencies. My guess would be this is to prevent the phone from hunting between signals. This could indeed be what Apple were talking about when they mentioned that the new phone placed lower demands on the network.
For the sake of making things easy to understand, have a read through the two artciles on Wikipedia and HowStuffWorks:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cell_site

Basically, a Cell Tower has a finite number of frequencies it can use and assigns your phone to one of these frequencies. As you move around however, you'll be assigned different frequencies on different towers depending on what's available. As you can imagine, if a phone is super sensitive to variations in signal quality, it can reach a point where it jumps continuously between cell towers, placing high demand on all the switching hardware in the network. In reality, the user wouldn't notice any change in call quality if it stayed on one tower. By placing a delay in the frequency switching on the phone, your call will no longer be shuffled around towers constantly and will instead stick to one cell tower for longer, reducing the amount of juggling the network servers have to do and hence reducing dropped calls.
Here in lies the problem. When you change the length of the antenna on the phone, you cut out it's ability to see one segment of frequencies. The phone then starts looking for another available frequency. This now takes forever. Although the frequency may well be avaible, by the time it's found it, the call has been dropped as the slightly weaking signal it is expecting as you move away from the original tower has completely dissapeared.
The design of the antenna is undoubtably a fundamental design issue, which has somehow been overlooked or ignored. Let's not get into the politics of that here. What this does highlight however is that, if the delay between frequency switching is removed, reduced or in some way made smarter, the switch will be so quick, it won't have any noticeable effect on your call as it will just be another frequency switch similar to that between a towers.
Is it possible to manually select a band / frequency, especially for 3G?

All the info seems to indicate 850/1900 for 3G and no info on 2G except for rumors saying the same as the EU milestone or only 850/1900.I was hoping for at least tri-band 3G and quad-band 2G. I am sick and tired of these phones with weak-sauce frequency bands.
View 15 Replies View RelatedMy question is about the circles widget. It is beyond frustration to me that it takes what seems like hours to update the weather. Even after touching the weather circle and it displaying the weather app, it still will typically not update. Maybe it's just me, but I see zero use in having a widget that tells me the weather from 2 hours ago. It is also incredibly annoying to be driving to work, the sun has been out shining bright for an hour and a half, it's 50-60F degrees outside, and I unlock the phone to see an image of the night sky and the moon, and a temp of 30F.
I would have more forgiveness if this was some random widget I downloaded from the Play store, but this came installed with the phone, created by Motorola, designed for my device. For the time being, I have actually removed it from the main screen because it has just become frustrating and I am tired of constantly tapping on the weather and hoping it will update. There doesn't even seem to be a refresh option once the weather opens. What I would really like, and what I have not found, is a way to change the frequency in which the weather is updated. Setting the location statically versus automatic doesn't seem to have an effect either. I am in an area with great signal, 4-5 bars, and always with LTE, otherwise I have WiFi, so it's not a network connection issue. It's not like I want it to update all the time while the phone is off either (and risk draining the battery), but when I unlock the phone, that seems like a good time for the widget to check and see if it's been more than X minutes since it last updated (X being the number I can configure).
I want to know if I can create a push notification with the frequency based on the location of the user.
Ex.: If the user is at the mall I send a push, but if he goes to the mall again at the same week, he won“t receive the same push.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to v5.0.0.411 and have had almost no problems so far. One problem I have had though is whenever I do a battery pull my battery instantly says it's drained upon starting back up. Today it went from 50% to 15% after one pull. I know it is a false reading because recently it went from around 50% to 3%(the yellow low battery light was flashing when I turned it back on as well), however, I was able to use the phone for hours after this and it remained at 3%. From what I've read I'm thinking this might be a problem with the battery or battery contacts? But it's strange that it started happening as soon as I upgraded my OS to 5.0. Any suggestions or info?
