Okay, so camera always worked perfectly. Yesterday received KitKat update 4.4.2 and now in low light conditions my camera has a purple hue.
This is not a hardware issue. It is clearly a software issue and the 4.4.2 KitKat update appears to be garbage. My girlfriend has the exact same issue since updating to 4.4.2.
While I'm not a huge photo taker, I find it really annoying to snap one and have this purple tint above it. I've noticed that my camera cover has tiny scratches in the center. I'm pretty sure that's what is causing the purple tint maybe the reflection of the light.

The colors on the screen vary depending on how the screen is angled. The colors vary from purple, green, and pink tint. I've tried turning my phone on and off as well as resetting it, and nothing is working. The color tint is just in the middle of my screen from the top to the bottom of my screen; not on the sides, however it is still very hard to see my pictures in my gallery or even use social networking sites or anything for that matter.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI finally bought a N8 and receved it yesterday after wanting to get one for a year now. I had always held back as I was hoping they would sort the purple screen issue out. I specifically wanted to buy a phone from a proper Australian dealer as I wanted it to be A tick and have 24months warrenty. First thing I did when I got the phone was charge it, turn it on to the analogue clock screen saver, lock the screen and then press the menu/home key. There it was, half the clock was purple! So I was sure I had the fault I was hoping not to get. I was gutted/disappointed. I really thought it could not happen to me. I have not even put my sim card in, used the phone or removed the protective shipping stickers yet
I do not know how to tell the age/build date of my N8 but when I ordered it last week, the dealer was out of stock and had to get new stock In from Nokia in Brisbane I believe. The box/packing looked the same as what I had seen 12 months ago. The phone did not have Anna on it. I do know that the latest N8 from Hong Kong are shipping in newer packaging that show the pink coloured N8 on the box.
I spoke to the shop today and they said this was the first time they had heard of this purple screen issue and that they have had no one else mention it to them. I could not believe it as this is a world wide spread issue. They rang Nokia in Brisbane and Nokia supposedly knew nothing about the 'faulty purple screen' issue. So they are either denying it and there is this huge cover up or they have honestly never heard of it.
Since the shop said it was news to them, maybe that's a good thing and I got 1 in 100 faulty one or something. I know this shop has sold about 37 on ebay plus more from their online shop and retail shop too, so if what they are saying is right, then all those buyers must be happy. I actually bought it from their online store and not on ebay. It gives me hope that mine may have been a one off, but i doubt it.
So I am trying to work out what to do. I think I have every right to get the phone swapped for a new one. Its definitely faulty but what do I do if they send it to Nokia in Brisbane and they say its fine?
-What I want to know is how have other Australian buyers delt with the faulty screen issue here? Has Nokia Australia officially acknowelged the problem? has anyone made them aware of it? Are there any known online shops in Australia selling good nokia N8's with known good screens? Has anyone had a screen replaced with a good one recently? I believe there is a new one with part number MP40 that fixes the purple tint screen, but i have only hear of people in europe getting this screen.
I specifically want to know information and experiences and opinions from Australian N8 buyers and owners who have bought a N8 with pruple screen fault in Australia.
just bought it today, no more stock to exchange throughout Malaysia, now I've to go to NCC to get it fixed the purple screen... WTH! it's a repeated problem, it already haunted many N8 (including one of the 2 I own), now this one again... quality dropped..
View 19 Replies View RelatedSo I just noticed something weird about an hour ago. When using the camera, I find a small, subtle, deformed line. When I zoom in to the area, it gets bigger.
I've tried other camera apps, but it's still there. As far as I know, I did not scratch the lens in any way. I took a video yesterday that doesn't have the line on it.
It was there on the Verizon 12a update, and did not disappear when I got the small update. If it gets to the point, I can easily replace the lens, correct?

The ONLY thing I can think of his it got there due to heat, I went to the pool and I left my phone in my wife's purse under a shirt so the son wouldn't hit it but I guess it was still hot inside. because for a month and a half I never had the dot. and yes I've read about the "only shows in low light" ive taken plenty of low light shots and never saw if there prior to 2 days ago

View 24 Replies View RelatedMy Curve has developed a camera issue.It worked fine within the last 2-3 months (but I havent used it for a while) and has been working up to that point with no issues.When I go to take a picture, I can see the image, but it has a red, "negative" type tint to it.Also, it appears that the "low light" function of brightening the image up does not engage or work.When I take the picture, the flash will flash, but the image displayed on the screen at that time displays a solid white (blank) screen. I can not take another picture from there. it seems like the app might be locked up.The only thing I can do at that point is to press the red cancel button which brings me back to my home screen.The picture is not saved. I can then take another picture, but the same thing happens.The video camera works, but has the same "red tinted", negative type of image on it.It will record, and playback but the image appears as it is ciewed in the viewfinder. With the red tint/negative type of image. Sound is fine. I can also view previously recorded picture and videos with prefect clarity.The pone works properly in all other aspects and the only issue I have ever had with it has been a battery. I replaced thre battery two weeks ago because it would go dead quickly. The new battery works well.I have done a full battery pull. No change to the camera issue.Any thoughts?

I got my Xperia pro yesterday, and when I tried testing the camera I found photos taken with it had huge translucent purple bars across them. This happened with every photo I attempted take. I then exited the camera app and went back in, and when I tried to take another photo it simply displayed "unknown error" and the app closed. It now does this every single time, meaning I cannot take photos at all.I cannot find any other reports of this issue online, and I have myself tried formatting the SD card; performing a factory reset on the phone itself and reinstalling the software using the PC Companion. None of these have worked and appears to have actually made the issue worse; now it will sometimes refuse the start the app altogether and display "Camera not available".

I tried cleaning the outside of the lense really well, and it does not appear to be scratched on the outside, I'm wondering if dust somehow got inside the lense. all of my pictures now have a dot in the middle of them. Can this be fixed, or can my phone be replaced?

I have noticed in low-light photos, in both Superior Auto and Manual mode that there is a blue tint on the edges of low light photos, especially more on the left side. The only way I've noticed I can really mitigate it is if I lower the ISO on manual mode, but then the photos would end up being too dark.

I have seen this issue discussed on other forums; some say it is a hardware issue, some software, and others say a camera module replacement may fix it. But I don't think Sony has officially ever acknowledged this issue, even though it is definitely present.

I have an Xperia Z2 updated with android 4.4.4. When I try to take pictures at night I just get purple photos. This started just a few weeks ago out of nowhere. Let me say that the lens is not dirty nor blocked by anything. I don't have a case. I have just restored the phone today with Sony PC Companion and still the same issue.

They don't go away and Ive done a hard reset, too. I backed up using smart switch and when trying to restore I am getting an error and can't get my stuff back from smart switch. So frustrating. View 5 Replies View RelatedIt makes no difference which Nokia "Camera" I use. The photos all turn out with a strong lime green tint. I've tried three 1020s now and am about to give up. I took a picture of friends in their living room, which was cream with neutral earth tone colors. It came out green on green. I took another of friends in a sand beige painted classroom. The walls came out a sickly lime green.
The only commonality in both situations was that one person in each grouping was wearing lime green, so I went back to the classroom to try again. With the classroom empty, the photo still came out lime green.

I went to clear out cache data in my apps the other day and noticed almost all programs show 12.00Kb cache sizes, but the app data listed has grown to ridiculous sizes. Facebook, all Google programs, etc. Nearly every installed program. Facebook's shows its app data at almost 200 MB!!! Wtf?! It's less than a 15MB program, so clearly the cache files are being stored as app data, and therefore cannot be removed without wiping configs for the programs.

View 5 Replies View Relatedi bought the LG G3 D855 phone using android kitkat 4.4 but am now regretting because it was advertised that it had 2 GB ram but actually gives me only 450mbs ram(this is the biggest factor with speed lagging performance etc) and on top of that does not allow downloaded apps to either manually transfer or automatically to the sd card. meanwhile using the file manager as the word says can only transfer files manually not apps. After factory resetting the memory gets full quickly and therefore the phone is back to its sluggish ways.
