View 5 RepliesSo I am lagging behind a little in the updates department. I am currently on kitkat 4.4.4 (towelrooted, TWRP recovery with system files modified). AFAIK, i can't use the OTA update I received months ago for 5.0. Is there anyway I can upgrade (without wiping any data), to 6.0? If not, what would be the best way to upgrade to 5.0 (not a clean install/wipe)?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI own Nexus 5 for enough long time to know how Kitkat worked. There is one thing that has drawn my attention - when I had Kitkat radio running on my phone, the mobile signal was great but after each upgrade to Lollipop and Marshmallow it's gotten noticeably worse. I was wondering, is it possible to install Kitkat radio when running Marshmallow ROM (Cataclysm)?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to find the setting on how to turn gmail cards on. I'm not sure if it's just on or what but I do not see the setting anymore in Google Now's settings. I only see "Sports teams", "Stocks", "Places", "Everything else" (which only has 4 settings, and gmail not being one of them).
How to turn this on? I'm presuming it's not working because my package tracking cards haven't been showing up.
Unlike most people who were looking forward to it, I was dreading this Hangouts/SMS merger.
One of the things I have not been able to figure out is how to search within my SMS messages. The old SMS app did this easily at the push of one on screen button.
Is this no longer a feature or am I just not looking in the right place?
Got the N5 in 2012 with 4.4.4 on loved it, no problems then. Then lollipop came along causing battery drain and random crashes. Waited for 5.1 hoping for fixes, installed it battery life improved but still crashed randomly. I put it down to the memory leak problem. I decided to downgrade. I downgraded back to kitkat 4.4.4 after unlocking the boot loader. Now I have random crashes running Kit Kat.
PS If I carry my USB battery pack around and keep phone plugged into it the phone never crashes. Its just not a very mobile phone then!!

I always get this error whenever I try to flash the Nexus 5 with using the flash-all file, I installed Android Studio, restarted my PC, even got the 6.0 factory image. None work and I always get that error? I'm trying to restart this Nexus 5 for my dad. The Nexus 5 is rooted with franco kernel and TWRP but on stock ROM.
Yesterday I did an update to several programs including Google and noticed major battery drain. I was not sure which program did it but checked Battery in Settings and saw it was the screen causing the drain. Apparently when the Google program updated, it changed the setting for automatic brightness adjustment to ON. I turned it off and the battery is fine. I keep brightness set to about one quarter to one third brightness. I think the battery life is great and I can easily get thru the day.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSince updating Lollipop to 5.1, Google Now will not recognize contacts with voice. It repeatedly gives me the response, "You don't have contact details for ___." I have deleted and then restored accounts, cleared cache, checked to make sure all settings are correct in Google Now, all to no avail.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOkay, so camera always worked perfectly. Yesterday received KitKat update 4.4.2 and now in low light conditions my camera has a purple hue.
This is not a hardware issue. It is clearly a software issue and the 4.4.2 KitKat update appears to be garbage. My girlfriend has the exact same issue since updating to 4.4.2.
Trying to update my phone which i bought from a shop as second hand few days ago . I can't update the firmware from kitkat to lollipop ...

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just flashed the nexus 5 official image for android 6.0; I have used adb and fastboot and I flashed everything but the userdata.img (as I did with all previous updates). Everything looks fine with the exception of google now on tap: if I long press the home "button" it only takes me to the regular google now page.
The google app is version 5.3 (which is supposed to enable on tap), I tried both google now launcher and nova, but the result is always the same, standard google now page with no content relevant to the page/app I was in. Is it expected ? do i have to enable it somehow?
im having problems with GPS, i have tried different gps/maps apps, it just wont figure out my location. im trying the option "Device Only" "use GPS to determine your location".i have also tried the option, "use wifi, gps, and mobile networks", still no change.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo I received a replacement Nexus 5 from Google and already installed 5.0 lollipop. However, the tap and go feature is not transferring any of apps from the old nexus 5 to the replacement phone. It only transfers my contacts. I was reading around and realized that my back up was turned off. Yesterday, I turned on "back up my data" and "automatic restore" under settings->Backup & reset. However, today when I tried to use tap and go feature, my apps still did not transfer over.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI keep getting the prompt to update to 5.1.1 when I accept it reboots to the android upgrading screen and then it says error then reboots back into the OS.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI bought a 4G enabled sim card, used it for a week, haven't been able to get 4G at all. Its always on HSDPA.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo I am trying to USB tether right? but, for some reason it won't even setup a connection and when I enabled Dedug mode for USB that seemed to get it working. Honestly I don't want to do it that way. I pay for my tethering plan unlike most people on here with T-Mobile.
What I am trying to say is that out the box USB tethering does not work.
Now with Debug enabled I can do it, but when debug is enabled my damn Win 8.1 64 bit flips out! Seriously I don't know what the hell this damn phone is doing to my computer but it forces my CPU to go up to 100% usage!!
Unless my WiFi is connected my Browser will not work with the 4g LTE. I don't know if its my APN settings or if something else is wrong. I'm on Straight Talk with an AT&T Sim card.

View 10 Replies View RelatedSo about a week ago my WiFi just wouldn't work anymore. When I try to turn it on, it stays stuck at "Turning WiFi on". I think I've tried almost anything to make it work again. I've reflashed the factory image 3 time (Android 6.0), I've tried downgrading to Lollipop 5.1.1 but it still wouldn't work. I took it to a GSM Service and they said that there is no hardware problem.
View 2 Replies View RelatedGot notification that my OTA had downloaded last night, started the install process only for it to fail part way through, Had the android man with red triangle with 'error' underneath it. Since I booted back into 5.1.1 I can't start the process again to upgrade

View 2 Replies View RelatedOn my Nexus 5 the wireless charging and NFC suddenly stopped working.. Everything worked properly until yesterday but suddenly my NFC tags have not been recognized and i just tried my wireless charging pad and it is also not working..
I expect a hardware problem because all the nfc-based apps are working if nfc is turned on and aren't working if nfc is turned off.. Is it a problem with the NFC/wireless charging pad or with the pcb? I guess i have to replace one of the parts but which - is there any way to find out which one? When i lay it onto the wireless charger the indication led of the charger doesn't change the color and also doesn't seem to recognize the phone, so i guess it's the charging pad which is located in the backcover?
Everything else is working properly.. Is there anything i can do about it or do i have to change any component?
So about a week ago, a vertical strip of my digitizer stopped working, right through the "n" and "j" buttons on the keyboard. I looked into getting it replaced and was quoted around $150, which seems a bit steep for a phone I only plan on keeping until the N5 (2015) drops in a couple of months. Cut to this weekend and once or twice that portion of the digitizer started working again, but only for a few minutes at a time. So it looks like it may not be a hard failure. Could it just be a loose connector?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got a brand new N5. So far so good but theres a couple of things that are bothering me... mostly the fact that widgets dont seem to self update at ALL!! When I tap on them they still work, but the actual widget stays the same.

Swiftkey Ver - 5.0.5.95
Phone - Google Nexus 5 (32 gb)
I received the Lollipop update yesterday and since then have also updated Swiftkey. Swiftkey randomly stopped working this morning. When I try to type anywhere the keyboard doesn't open up, I've tried this on the Google search bar, Whatsapp, Snapchat and Notes and all had the same result. On going to the Swiftkey description page from the Input Settings, even the Swiftkey info stays for a few seconds and then it automatically closes. If i got to the settings from the Apps tab in Settings then I can view the app info. I switched to the Google Keyboard and everything is fine.
My caller ID has stopped working on my Nexus 6 when I get a call although in my contacts list the name doesn't display same when I'm trying to send a message when I search contact does not come up, comes up after a few minutes
