Google Nexus 6 :: Can't Update To 5.1.1
Aug 30, 2015I keep getting the prompt to update to 5.1.1 when I accept it reboots to the android upgrading screen and then it says error then reboots back into the OS.

Google Nexus 5 :: Google Update Caused Rapid Battery Drain
Feb 27, 2015Yesterday I did an update to several programs including Google and noticed major battery drain. I was not sure which program did it but checked Battery in Settings and saw it was the screen causing the drain. Apparently when the Google program updated, it changed the setting for automatic brightness adjustment to ON. I turned it off and the battery is fine. I keep brightness set to about one quarter to one third brightness. I think the battery life is great and I can easily get thru the day.

Apr 22, 2015Since updating Lollipop to 5.1, Google Now will not recognize contacts with voice. It repeatedly gives me the response, "You don't have contact details for ___." I have deleted and then restored accounts, cleared cache, checked to make sure all settings are correct in Google Now, all to no avail.

Oct 8, 2015so my Nexus 5 just showed a Update Message today saying that Android 6.0 was available. I accepted the terms and started downloading it.After finishing it asked me if i wanted to restart it, when i did nothing happened it just went back o the check for update dialog box. I tried restarting the phone but nothing happens, it does not detect android 6 again and it does not install the one that got downloaded.

Nov 15, 2015Everyone is going to think that i mean no home screen rotate, but i mean no screen rotation at all. The only time the screen rotates is when watching the YouTube app. And then it wont rotate back until i go back to my home screen. I have it set to auto rotate in the pull down shade. I have checked the sensor with an app and its working. I have tried a soft restart and that didn't work.

I tried using ES File Explorer with dropbox and it's been hit or miss. Is there any other way I can transfer music to my phone? Or maybe any reason why the USB mounting wouldn't be working?

Nov 30, 2015I tried to update my Nexus 5 to Marshmallow using ADB/Fastboot and Googles images. I have followed a number of different (yet the same) approaches to flash the unit and NOTHING works. I tried to go back to 5.1.1 and can not restore the unit. It has not bricked (yet) and not sure what to try next. I have read options that call for reformatting parts of the operating systems but fearful this will brick the unit. I have flashed the bootloader, phone, recovery, userdata, sys, etc., and nothing works. I know others have had trouble with Nexus 5 based on what I have read however to date not be able to restore the device.

Mar 22, 2015Encountering screen freezes since the update? Sometimes it won't let me out of an app or even the app drawer. Just tried to open Photos while unrelated app updates were downloading and just got a white screen and then had a hard time getting out. Had to reboot the phone.
On a possibly related matter, when streaming Play Music via bluetooth in my car (Honda Civic) the app will not shut down when I shut the stereo off. Just stays open and paused. It worked fine before either 5.1 or the last Play Music update. I am not sure which as I got them around the same time.

Sep 29, 2015A buddy of mine is getting a notifiaction for Android System Update. When he selects to install, It says it will reboot and install updates, but when it reboots it goes in to Team Win Recovery Projest mode (TWRP) as he had rooted his phone. After it goes to recovery mode he manually selected reboot and it does not start to update and the notification is not to be seen again. But after 2-3 hours it comes back again asking to update. Let me know how to diable the phone going into recovey mode or how to update in recovery mode if there is way to do it???? This has been happening from past 2 days.

Dec 11, 2014Not wanting to wait for the OTA update to appear on it's own, I downloaded the 5.0.1 OTA update directly and tried to do a adb sideload from my Mac but sadly I get a "device not found" after doing the adb reboot bootloader command. I do adb devices and indeed no devices are attached. So I entered recovery mode and still no device found and so I just start the Nexus 6 back up as normal. At that point, adb devices shows the Nexus 6 and so rinse and repeat - the device is not found while in bootloader. Must be doing something wrong since I was able to install 5.0 without any issue and it's already unlocked.

Nov 17, 2014I've got an odd issue with Nexus 5. I had previously rooted under KitKat, and then decided to update to Lollipop. I used the adb sideload to push the OTA update onto the phone. It appears that in the update I lost my root (not the real issue) and everything with Lollipop seems fine. Something in my device claims that it's still rooted (even though every root checker says I'm not). I utilize the Good for Enterprise app and it's telling me that I'm not in compliance and keeps wiping my account (after setting it up again with my IT group). IT claims I'm rooted since it's wiping, but like I said every root checker says that I'm not. What I find weird is apps like Solid Explorer and Helium "think" I'm rooted for a brief second, but don't let me do anything that having root would let me do. (helium reverts to non-root after saying there was an error executing Superuser and solid explorer asks me to install BusyBox).
IIRC just factory wiping the device wouldn't get rid of root. Do I root again and then try to unroot? Do I try something else? Basically I don't need/want root, but I obviously want my Good for Enterprise to work correctly. I can always push the factory image onto the phone using ADB if that would work. I can backup most of my apps and such with Helium and start over without it being a huge deal but I'm concerned even that wouldn't work.

Mar 14, 2014Black 16GB Nexus 5 here. My in call volume using the earpiece is very very low since the 4.4.2 update. I have the volume maxed out and have already cleared cache, and even data reset once. Did not work at all.
The only way to use the phone making a call is to use a headset or be indoors in a very quiet room. Even then it's hard to hear the caller using the earpiece. I always have to use a headset for making calls.
I remember the in call volume being louder before the 4.4.2 update. After the update, however, the microphone functionality is improved and people can hear me better now (compared to 4.4.0 stock). However, it's hard for me to hear them.I just wanted to see if someone else faced this problem or whether this is a manufacturing defect in my phone.
