My battery has been horrible since the update. Today has been the worst... The phone app has drained 32% of my battery. I haven't made a call all day.I already wiped the cache partition, which did nothing. It seems factory resets aren't solving the issues either.

Now after futzing with the WIFI setting, last night I lost only 5% total in 8 hours sleep time. Furthermore battery read 18% remaining at 10:30 PM and still read 18% at 4:17 AM. Now this is more like what my iPhone 6 gets while sleeping.
What seems to have fixed by battery woes. I changed the (Advanced) WIFI frequency setting from Automatic to 5Ghz (which would not work at all) and then to 2.4 Ghz only.
As of today I have 87% remaining after 3 hours of casual use (after charging to 100%.) Previously (for the past week since installing Lollipop) I was losing about 25% per hour during casual usage - ridiculously bad battery life.
I had just listed this thing on Craigslist because I cannot use a phone with 4 hour battery life.
Yesterday I did an update to several programs including Google and noticed major battery drain. I was not sure which program did it but checked Battery in Settings and saw it was the screen causing the drain. Apparently when the Google program updated, it changed the setting for automatic brightness adjustment to ON. I turned it off and the battery is fine. I keep brightness set to about one quarter to one third brightness. I think the battery life is great and I can easily get thru the day.

If i update to 2.6.1 xposed and to 3.1.4 GravityBox I have massive battery drain.
Maybe I'm updating in the wrong way. This is how I do:
1.Download and install latest xposed apk.
2.Framework--> Install/Update
3.Reboot.
"Google Services" is constantly my biggest battery drain. It is consistently 2x more than the next biggest power hungry app "Google Search". These two apps together account for 40% OF MY BATTERY LIFE LOST. I did a factory reset with no impact. The battery screenshots I see here from others never seem to reflect what I am seeing - the screen is always the biggest drain, which I would expect.
My X sees light to moderate use with 2 SOT usually.
Ever since the android 6 update I have noticed that Google play services is always top of my battery drain stats.
Also the mobile radio active figure is always going up and up!
I do have a android wear device synced but I always have and never noticed this is lollipop.
What could be causing this? I don't have Google now or location services on ...
Nexus 5, 16GB, MRA58N (stock, not rooted). Sometimes the power percentages shown for each process in the battery monitor do not add up to the total battery drain? I am finding that sometimes they add up to within 1% of the total shown.... and sometimes they are WAY off with as much as 30% of the displayed battery drain unaccounted for. Since I don''t have access to the battery terminals, I can't determine independently whether the percentages shown are simply inaccurate, or whether there are missing processes (ie., processes not shown at all in the battery monitor).
View 10 Replies View RelatedI just switched over to Android from my iPhone 5, and while I love the OS, the battery life on this thing is pretty atrocious. I'm not sure if I'm just spoiled from my time with the iPhone, or if I have a defective unit, but even after performing a factory reset, my battery life appears to be draining about 1% every 1 minute during fairly normal usage (no streaming, processor intensive apps, etc). On top of this, over the past two nights, I have woken up to find my battery has been drained by ~20% by just sitting on my nightstand.
After the factory reset, the only app I reinstalled was Facebook, so I'm pretty much ruling out any apps as the culprit here. I know there have a been many articles/threads about specific functionality you can disable to maximize battery life - and believe me I have tried some to no avail - yet I am pretty against the notion that I need to essentially disable the functionality of my phone to get respectable performance out of the unit.
I'm talking to Google support right now but thought I'd post here as well to see if 1) other people have been experiencing issues like these and 2) if there is anything I am overlooking here that might be the source of the issue.
My battery is draining pretty bad on standby. Its dropped about 20 percent in 2 hours. The phone has literally in my pocket with no use.

My battery seems to have gone sour lately and I don't know why. Esp today, I unplugged from my charge at 2pm and have done anything major with the device and I'm already below 50% in under 5 hours. I've spent 80% of my time on WiFi at my house. That to me seems unacceptable.
The two gaps there are I had to restart my phone for something and the second time was to clear cache partition. Currently running 5.1. Gonna do a reset to see if that fixes anything, I'd it doesn't I'm gonna try to get moto to replace and replace with a white device haha.
This is absolutely abysmal, and I can't pinpoint what is causing these wakelocks. My phone is not very operational anymore on a day to day basis.
Battery health apps report battery as "Good", so I don't think it's a dying battery. [URL] ..
Strange that there aren't much complaints about that, but after I got the even buggier 5.0.1 update, the WiFi's battery drain is unstoppable. My usage and settings are exactly how I left them before the update several days ago. WiFi uses about 60% while the phone sleeping. No abnormal wakelocks details detected

It seems like Im having to charge my phone at least twice a day now. Id like to steer clear of a factory data reset if I can, but if I have to I will. Running my phone with the GPS set to device only.
The stand by percent was at 11% this charge cycle. I've read that changing the preferred network type is a temp fix, but I don't see the point in disabling 4g if its meant to run on a 4g network. I've also read that google fit maybe a possible problem area. I honestly don't know what else to do. Its really frustrating that this good phone is just plagued by these small issues. Is there any way to clear the cache on the cell radios or anything like that? Also would I be able to run the Android M version of the radio firmware on my current build of 5.1? Running 5.1 build D for Verizon.
I'm noticing some battery drain during the night on my nexus 5 even when my phone is in airplane mode.. I charged it to 100 then took it off the charger and turned airplane mode on. When I woke up it was at 95 percent.. I know it's not a huge chunk of battery but isn't that still bad for it being in airplane which is supposed to turn off all the radios? I could of swore when I did this last week it only dropped one percent, why the sudden jump? And Google play services was the top thing draining battery according to my phone stat settings..

I have deleted and then restored accounts, cleared cache, checked to make sure all settings are correct in Google Now, all to no avail.

According to GSAM, the culprit is Android Core Apps. Not sure what that is. I thought maybe Netflix was still downloading, but that's not Android Core Apps.

Now the notification does not show up any more, even i check the System updates in "about phone". So now I am unable to update my N5 by downloading the OTA update. View 12 Replies View RelatedI've got an odd issue with Nexus 5. I had previously rooted under KitKat, and then decided to update to Lollipop. I used the adb sideload to push the OTA update onto the phone. It appears that in the update I lost my root (not the real issue) and everything with Lollipop seems fine. Something in my device claims that it's still rooted (even though every root checker says I'm not). I utilize the Good for Enterprise app and it's telling me that I'm not in compliance and keeps wiping my account (after setting it up again with my IT group). IT claims I'm rooted since it's wiping, but like I said every root checker says that I'm not. What I find weird is apps like Solid Explorer and Helium "think" I'm rooted for a brief second, but don't let me do anything that having root would let me do. (helium reverts to non-root after saying there was an error executing Superuser and solid explorer asks me to install BusyBox).
IIRC just factory wiping the device wouldn't get rid of root. Do I root again and then try to unroot? Do I try something else? Basically I don't need/want root, but I obviously want my Good for Enterprise to work correctly. I can always push the factory image onto the phone using ADB if that would work. I can backup most of my apps and such with Helium and start over without it being a huge deal but I'm concerned even that wouldn't work.
My nexus 5 GPS used to work GREAT under kitkat. However, after the Lollipop OTA update the gps signal keeps dropping and I am not able to use any navigation system.
I did try the factory reset but it didnt work.
A friend of mine is also facing the exact same problem, we both have the 32GB model.
My girlfriend, however, has not faced any issue after the ota update (she has the 16GB model). Her GPS works great! Our basebands versions are exactly the same.
I really need the gps. I use it almost daily!
I got my lollipop update yesterday. I was using it fine but it keeps restarting by itself several times. I have checked the power button and there is no issue with it either.

I've gone through all the settings about a million times and everything is setup properly. I'm currently using an app called Force Gmail Sync to keep my Google account synced up . It works great but I'd prefer to just be running Google apps on my phone and keep everything stock. I've tried a factory reset with no luck. Any secret way to set a sync frequency for Google's Gmail and Contacts apps without using a third party app?
View 1 Replies View RelatedLike others, I tried the software update, and then my phone constantly got stuck at the four little circles at start up. I followed some instructions I found on AndroidPit:
1. From a powered off state, press the Power button to start your Nexus 5. When you see the Google logo press and hold the Volume Down key and release when the device vibrates.
2. Use the volume keys to highlight Recovery Menu and press the Power button to select. This will bring you to a screen with an Android on its back.
3. Hold the Volume Up key for 5 secs then release and a new menu will appear.
4. First off, you can use the volume keys to select Wipe Cache Partition. This will cause your phone to restart. once this is done, re-do the previous steps to get back to the same screen (the one that Wipe Cache Partition was on).
5. Highlight Wipe Data/Factory Reset and select using the Power key. Scroll down to Yes, Delete All Data and press the Power button again to select.
6. Your Nexus 5 will now wipe your data and reformat.
7. On the next screen hit the Power button to select Reboot System Now.
It has been 40 minutes now and it's stuck on 'Formatting /data'. Is this normal?
I've only had this phone for a couple of months and it was functioning perfectly until now I haven't rooted it or anything.
I guess this seems like a good problem to have, but since I got the stage fright update, I've been having these small spikes of battery gain when my phone is off the charger. It looks good on the surface, but I don't know if it maybe indicates some issue with the battery?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI just installed Nameless ROM and am having trouble setting the CPU speeds. I've tried with Device control (built in) and then with No Frills CPU, both with root access, and have not had any success setting my CPU speed. When I set anything on minimum, I exit the app and when I return it goes back to its original value (1574). Same thing with No Frills. I have BusyBox installed and the latest version of SuperSu. I do not have a custom Kernel, but my experience in the past has been quite similar with Franco Kernel and ElementalX kernel across a number of different ROMs.
