My Nexus 5, with default Google Keyboard, has stopped showing word suggestions. It used to work but doesn't anymore. The keyboard is not set to the same language as the system language.

I don't know what happened but Google maps and Google now think I am on the other side of the country. I am in Ohio and it is showing my location as in a neighborhood in Salt Lake city, Utah. I have turned location, WiFi and GPS on and off. Also I have turned the phone on and off. I am on T-Mobile and my other phones location is correct.
View 4 Replies View RelatedFor the past couple of months, it's been fine, showing commute times and the weather where I'm at and stories related to searches, etc. But in the past couple of days, it has fallen apart, now saying 99% of the time that it has no cards for me at this time. Even after repeated weather requests, it won't pop a card for it unless I manually set one for home.
I've tried toggling it off and on; switching accounts; erasing stored data (which only wiped out all my home screens); nothing works but turning it off and on and opting in which beings up one set of news story cards which when swiped away never return. No stocks, no weather, no commute times, nada, nyet, nothing.
After uninstalling updates to Google Search - WARNING: This will reset all your homescreens to default, wiping out your folders, etc. - it seems to restore normal Now function. Just make sure to update Search to current before rebuilding your home screens otherwise you'll have to swipe from the beginning of your app list every time.
Using the built-in Kitkat keyboard with the swype-like function - when I try and type "you" it very often comes up with "thou" instead.
Is there a way I can delete "thou" from my dictionary? I have no need for the word since I rarely quote Shakespeare or the Ten Commandments to anyone.
I swear "thou" comes up 7 out of every 10 times I try to type "you".
I followed the instructions on this archived reddit post with my nexus 6p. "How to change the trigger word for google now" (no direct link because I am too new.) I cannot seem to get it working.
I have tried systematically switching on and off options in AutoVoice, e.g., "run in foreground" and "alternative method", and substituting other apps in place of "VoiceSearchActivity" in Tasker, e.g., "DspHotwordVoiceSearchActivity", but no luck.The hardware and up-to-date Google Now app in my nexus 6p should be compatible with this method.
Why my Google Keyboard stopped making the typing sounds? I checked all settings, cleared cache, etc...but no typing sounds. Key pop ups, and vibrate work fine as does all other sounds including home button sounds, etc. Also, the default LG keyboard typing sounds work fine! I know, I am probably the only person to ever WANT the typing sounds on but I like it that way...

I usually reply just once, but then I accidentally clicked 'every time'. Now I want to change the app that I use, but now I don't get the choice. How can I restore that dialogue giving me the choice?

I am using a Nexus 5, and I am not able to set a launcher by default. I have downloaded, Hola launcher, Solo Launcher, APUS launcher and Nova Launcher. But except Google Now Launcher, nothing stays default. if this is some bug in the latest 5.1.1 upgrade.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Nexus 5 running Android 5.0. I have two email accounts through my ISP. I set up both accounts set to "Delete from server" "Never". The alternative is "Delete from server" "When deleted from inbox."
When I get an email on my Nexus 5, if I delete it, it is gone from the server and when I log onto my computer at home I have no email. If I let the emails sit on my Nexus 5, download them to my inbox at home, then I can delete them from the Nexus 5 without losing them.The default seems to be to delete the message from the server when it's deleted from the inbox whether you choose "Never" or not.
I uninstalled my Swype keyboard and was in the process of reinstalling a new one when my phone screen shut off. Now, on the lock screen, no keyboard pops up when I try to enter my password, only the Google Voice red button, which doesn't actually record anything. It just stays statically in red 'waiting for results.' When I press the keyboard image next to the password input box, the 'Choose Input Method' option shows up, with no options to select from. I've tried clearing the cache as well, to no avail.
How can I get past this seemingly minor problem which has completely locked me out of my phone?
I just got my Nexus 5 working today. I installed a keyboard app and everytime I use the app there is a little keyboard icon that shows up in the notification bar at the top left. How do I make that go away?
View 17 Replies View RelatedI noticed with the update to 4.4.3 when you change the default notification tone to none, hangout's notification then defaults to hangouts notification rather than no notification. I'm not sure if this effects all apps. On 4.4.2 it would just be silent. I had to add a silence notification to my sdcard internal memory to have a silent notification.

View 1 Replies View RelatedA few days ago, my N5's camera stopped working and none of the usual solutions (reboot, clean data and cache of camera app, even complete wipe and change of ROM) did anything to fix the problem. So I went on ebay, and bought a replacement back camera, fitted it and all was well...for a day!!! It looks like after just one day (and nearly no use at all) the new camera has already stopped working.

View 4 Replies View RelatedUnder Settings/Sound, I have Vibrate on touch checked. I use SwiftKey and under those settings I also have it checked to vibrate on keyless but still nothing. I tried using the stock keyboard in case it's a SwiftKey issue but that doesn't vibrate either.
I just realized the phone doesn't vibrate at all, even for calls. When I set the ringer to vibrate, it's just quiet. Guess it's a hardware issue.
On my nexus 6 I've been using the Google keyboard which I do love but sometimes it's slowing down for typing is not as quick as my thumbs are.

With a ElementalX-N5-4.09 kernel.
I tried:
Reflashing the ROM
Wiping and Reflashing the ROM
Wiping and Reflashing the ROM, without ElementalX
Wiping and Flashing an older version
Wiping and formating of user data too + Reflashing
complete reset by doing fastboot oem lock/unlock
flashing of the factory image of Android 6
Each time the result is the same. When the phone was still running cyanogen I had adb while it was booting (that's no longer the case) and I saw nothing striking ... it would have one (pc) screen worth of log (logcat) and then nothing it would just stop. I couldn't spot anything in kernel logs either (dmesg/last_kmsg).
The recovery is working fine ... I was able to start an ssh server and use it... it's just android that won't boot.
