Using the built-in Kitkat keyboard with the swype-like function - when I try and type "you" it very often comes up with "thou" instead.
Is there a way I can delete "thou" from my dictionary? I have no need for the word since I rarely quote Shakespeare or the Ten Commandments to anyone.
I swear "thou" comes up 7 out of every 10 times I try to type "you".
My Nexus 5, with default Google Keyboard, has stopped showing word suggestions. It used to work but doesn't anymore. The keyboard is not set to the same language as the system language.

I'm leaning toward the Nexus 5, but I'm worried about the lack of storage and battery capacity. View 3 Replies View RelatedI followed the instructions on this archived reddit post with my nexus 6p. "How to change the trigger word for google now" (no direct link because I am too new.) I cannot seem to get it working.
I have tried systematically switching on and off options in AutoVoice, e.g., "run in foreground" and "alternative method", and substituting other apps in place of "VoiceSearchActivity" in Tasker, e.g., "DspHotwordVoiceSearchActivity", but no luck.The hardware and up-to-date Google Now app in my nexus 6p should be compatible with this method.
For some reason it refuses to use the word "am"! I've saved it to the dictionary and checked it's there, but still - I can't type "am" using predictive text! All other words have been added and are remembered just fine, but the word "am" ... the ACTUAL word "am" just doesn't want to be predicted. Ever! have to type "a" then select it, then type "m". Or I have to turn my phone sideways and use the keyboard layout. know it's not a problem that's going to bring down HTC, but honestly - it's remarkably frustrating!

Like many others i hate that i can not change a word that i discover was wrong by scrolling back to the word and underlining it then scrolling through with the * button till i find the word it was meant to be. Instead i have to delete the whole word and re-type it.I loved my old nokias as i could do this with them.Anyway i can not for the life of me get my nokia to add Shiver or Shivering to the dictionary. It types pig then i get the ? so i open up spell and the word save and then send but each time i try to type shiver or shivering again i go through the whole process of manually typing the word as it didnt get added to dictionary.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm using an Xperia Pro running the latest 2.3.4 release (4.0.2.A.0.58) and have two problems with the user dictionary for text-input. I notice that if I manually add words to the user dictionary (through the settings menu -> Language & keyboard -> User dictionary -> add), then these words do not appear in the as word suggestions when I am typing. I have my setting set to the default of "substitute letters only" for the slide-out and "automatically correct words" for the on-screen keyboard. Secondly, the automatic word suggestion feature often repeatedly suggests old spelling mistakes to me which is quite annoying. I would like a feature where I can also view, edit and delete words which have been automatically added to the automatic dictionary.

Contact has Star, + contact Icon, and 3 vertical dots on the far right with "Share & Place on Home Screen" why an already created contact with name has a "+ contact" icon. All other contacts have a "pencil" contact that I can tap and then hit delete on. How do I delete this contact? I just recently added it by hitting the save contact when I received a tex.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Nexus 5 running Android 5.0. I have two email accounts through my ISP. I set up both accounts set to "Delete from server" "Never". The alternative is "Delete from server" "When deleted from inbox."
When I get an email on my Nexus 5, if I delete it, it is gone from the server and when I log onto my computer at home I have no email. If I let the emails sit on my Nexus 5, download them to my inbox at home, then I can delete them from the Nexus 5 without losing them.The default seems to be to delete the message from the server when it's deleted from the inbox whether you choose "Never" or not.

The previous email app which is no longer supported by Lollipop allowed one to delete an email from the app without deleting it from the server (Comcast) if it was a POP account. This was handy because it removed clutter from my phone inbox but allowed me to read and reply to the same email on my desktop (POP email). Just now I read and then deleted an email (Comcast) from the GMail app and attempted to read and reply to that email on my desktop. Horrors. It's gone. It doesn't appear in my email client (Thunderbird) nor on the server.
I could not find any way to change that behavior in GMail under settings. The missing emails are in the trash folder on the phone but I couldn't figure out a way to transfer them back to the inbox or even less likely to get them back on the server. I will now, of course, be careful not to delete any email messages from GMail but I wonder if any way to change the behavior of the app?
I am going mad! I cannot delete the auto backup album from my photo gallery. I deleted it from the Photos (Google+), but it is still showing on the gallery. How can I do it?

In Swype or normal text mode, whenever I attempt to delete the last word the whole word appears to the right of the cursor and it is not possible to remove it. Once the original has been deleted and its unwanted replacement is present in its place, I then tap to the right of the replacement word and delete it, and it replaces itself again. This makes text and email intelligible.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe is another "feature" of the SG-II's built-in email app that infuriates me regularly:Each time when the mail app reloads emails from the server, it deletes all previous mails from the inbox (be they read or unread). Thus, if one accidentally triggers two reload/refreshes in sequence (or has automatic mail downloads enabled) this causes the unread mails from (an) earlier refresh(es) to be silently deleted and to "disappear", before one has a chance to read them! This happened already a couple of times to me and this is really insane
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a really weird problem that randomly started and just keeps getting weirder and more annoying. I was watching YouTube via the app on a very unreliable WiFi connection, and received a number of "playback error, tap to retry" messages (pretty normal on this particular network) so I didn't think much of it. When I got home, however, the messages and errors continued, so I cleared YouTube's cache, which did nothing. I then cleared data, it asked me to sign into Google again, and it did, but the errors continued. I then noticed in my notifications that I had some app updates available from the play store, and that's when the problem got stupid.
Play store hung on the spinny loading circle, so I cleared its cache and data and then it hung on the first update. Soooo, I cleared cache, then data, on Google play services. Now, not a single damn Google app does anything. Google play music shows my two google accounts to set up with, clicking either of them does nothing. YouTube plays videos linked from other apps, but can't search or browse, just has a the red nav bar and blank white space with the spinny. Play store doesn't work. Inbox doesn't refresh, you get the idea. And somehow, Facebook started not connecting at the same time as everything else. Not sure if its related or not, but it sure is frustrating. Chrome works fine. Other apps that connect to the internet work fine. Just google apps and Facebook.
For months I was happily using my Nexus 5 with a SoundID 300 earpiece. Pushing the call button went into a dialer dialog with voice prompts and responses. Suddenly a few weeks ago it started going to the Google Now (aka Google Search?) function (the one you get when you say "OK Google"). Although it will generally recognize the same voice commands as the dialer dialog, there are no voice prompts or responses, so if Google Now has crashed or decides to prompt on screen for "OK or Cancel", I have to get the phone out and look at it to see why it didn't dial.
View 7 Replies View RelatedYesterday I did an update to several programs including Google and noticed major battery drain. I was not sure which program did it but checked Battery in Settings and saw it was the screen causing the drain. Apparently when the Google program updated, it changed the setting for automatic brightness adjustment to ON. I turned it off and the battery is fine. I keep brightness set to about one quarter to one third brightness. I think the battery life is great and I can easily get thru the day.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm sure many of you have heard that when you enter an incorrect pattern/PIN/password, eventually the phone asks for Google account credentials to unlock it. My Nexus 5 on 5.1.0 does not do this. Does yours? If my lock screen is set to PIN, I can enter as many incorrect attempts as I want, it never asks and never stops me. If I have a pattern set it will let me enter 10 incorrect attempts after which it simply stops me from trying for 30s, but it never asks for Google account credentials.

I receive this error when I try to add a card in Android Pay: "Android Pay cannot be used: Google is unable to verify that your device of the software running on it is Android compatible". I tried disabling root entirely and using RootCloak (Xposed) to hide root from Android Pay and Google Wallet, but I still can't use Pay. Wallet still works as it always has.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo this morning I woke up to my phone on a boot loop on the Google Logo. I have no custom roms or mods on it other than I am running ART. I suspect it could be battery related as it will only seem to do this on the charger but when I don't have it plugged in it won't even start up. When it's plugged in it won't even seem to want to stay "off", it boots up to the google logo on its own. If I hold down the volume rocker I can get into the bootloader but it resets before I can select anything and boots right back into the google logo.

So I flashed newest twrp and flashed 6.0.1 bootloader and radio.img via fastboot using wugfresh tool and the files from the thread on here. now when trying to get into recovery, I am stuck at the google logo.
