View 16 RepliesIs there anyway to get the keyboard to show emojis when typing. I.e. when you type smile, you should see a smile emoji to enter, without going into you emoji part of the keyboard.

View 20 Replies View RelatedI have a brand-new Nexus 5. For some reason, the wifi connection keeps slowing to just less than 2mbps. If I turn the wifi off and on again via the phone settings, the connection always flies back up to around 30mpbs, but only for a short time (maybe around 15 minutes - it is seemingly random). My connection is a very stable fibre optic one and all other devices in my home operate fine, as did my previous phone.
I have tried all of the following options, which I found on a site, but to no avail:
1. Enable Airplane mode then turn off or toggle the Wi-Fi on and off to reset the connection.
2. Reboot the Nexus 5 to refresh the entire system.
3. Switch off the Wi-Fi router for 10 seconds then turn it back on.
4. On the Nexus 5 Settings menu, select Wireless and networks > Wi-Fi > Forget the network the problem then reconnect and entire the right details.
5. Update the firmware of the Wi-Fi router by checking the Web site from your Internet Service Provider's manual.
6. Change the band on your Nexus 5. Go to Settings > Wireless and networks > Wi-Fi > Menu key > Advance > Wi-Fi frequency band > Try 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz only instead of Auto. Uncheck the Avoid Poor Connections as well to improve Wi-Fi connectivity.
Why my Google Keyboard stopped making the typing sounds? I checked all settings, cleared cache, etc...but no typing sounds. Key pop ups, and vibrate work fine as does all other sounds including home button sounds, etc. Also, the default LG keyboard typing sounds work fine! I know, I am probably the only person to ever WANT the typing sounds on but I like it that way...

View 2 Replies View RelatedOne thing that I miss from CyanogenMod is the ability to add things to the quick settings menu. Is there an app available that will allow you to modify the quick settings menu on stock Android? My phone is rooted so but otherwise it's stock. I don't miss the instability of CyanogenMod, just that one feature, so I don't want to install a custom ROM, I just want to add a couple of things to the quick settings menu.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI didnt find any post about this issue so now i want to share it. If i turn on wifi in panel of quick settings, the phone doesn't connect to a network. But if i go to full settings it momentally connects. This bug i have first seen at marshmallow. How to fix it?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSince the time I have received my phone, while my phone is charging, typing becomes very slow and glitchy on all the messaging applications. I was previously using Google Keyboard, then downloaded swifkey pro, but the problem still persists.
View 4 Replies View RelatedEver since the last hangouts update whenever I'm in a convo it no longer shows when the other participant is typing to me or when they are looking at the convo. Instead the profile pic that shows what they last read up to always shows gray like they don't have the convo open and when the person actually replies it just pops up with no typing notification. Same thing with my finance's nexus 4.

I have looked everywhere but can't find the setting.
I've noticed that Android 5.0 allows to change many system settings (enable/disable WiFi/BlueTooth/Autorotate/etc) on its Lock Screen without entering any password.
I hate this liberty. How to disable this feature? I cannot find anything in settings.
I installed the release Marshmallow factory image yesterday - MRA58K - userdata and cache wiped. I've got a very frustrating Wifi problem which wasn't present in Lollipop - connecting to Wifi via the quick settings tile is really slow.
If I toggle Wifi off and on again via the quick settings tile it takes anything between 10-15 seconds for the wifi connection to re-establish.
If I toggle Wifi off and on from the Settings --> Wifi menu the wifi connection is re-established almost instantly as expected.
Both toggle methods were almost instant in LMY48M connecting to the same router/wireless network.
I've tried various combinations of advanced wifi options, i.e. different frequency bands options (my network is 2.4ghz, so have tried 2.4ghz and automatic), network notification toggled on/off, have tried with mobile data enabled/disabled - same behavior.

Will root later on to see if logcat shows anything.
My Nexus 5, with default Google Keyboard, has stopped showing word suggestions. It used to work but doesn't anymore. The keyboard is not set to the same language as the system language.

Is that a bug, or is it a setting I don't have right?
I uninstalled my Swype keyboard and was in the process of reinstalling a new one when my phone screen shut off. Now, on the lock screen, no keyboard pops up when I try to enter my password, only the Google Voice red button, which doesn't actually record anything. It just stays statically in red 'waiting for results.' When I press the keyboard image next to the password input box, the 'Choose Input Method' option shows up, with no options to select from. I've tried clearing the cache as well, to no avail.
How can I get past this seemingly minor problem which has completely locked me out of my phone?
I just got my Nexus 5 working today. I installed a keyboard app and everytime I use the app there is a little keyboard icon that shows up in the notification bar at the top left. How do I make that go away?
View 17 Replies View RelatedUnder Settings/Sound, I have Vibrate on touch checked. I use SwiftKey and under those settings I also have it checked to vibrate on keyless but still nothing. I tried using the stock keyboard in case it's a SwiftKey issue but that doesn't vibrate either.
I just realized the phone doesn't vibrate at all, even for calls. When I set the ringer to vibrate, it's just quiet. Guess it's a hardware issue.
As the title states I'm moving from a physical keyboard to a software one however what apps are out there to make the keyboard better?
Or would the standard Nexus 5 keyboard be fine?
Does the standard Nexus 5 keyboard have have predictive text or will it auto correct itself?
How have people that used physical keyboards find typing on a software keyboard now?
I am rooted , Franco kernel r35 , and gravity box installed..Let's say after I restart the nexus , I can go through a couple of hours browsing Google chrome fine , then randomly the back button doesn't work along with the keyboard not popping up?Is it the actual nexus phone problem or is it the kernel..

View 4 Replies View RelatedOn the iPad you can hide the keyboard anytime while typing. I cannot see a way to hide the keyboard when typing a mail message. I saw a post saying you close, save, go to your saved messaes and open the message again - too time consuming. There is a fix on the jailbroken site, but I dont want to jailbreak the phone. There must be a way to hide the keyboard in a mail messge. In a text message you can.

when I am using the qwerty keyboard (not touch screen) it is either not responding when I press a letter, or after several presses, when it does eventually respond, it displays a letter or character different from what I am pressing. Its basically to the point where my keyboard is useless. I have to hit the same key at least 5 times before it shows anything. It will sometimes skip letters that I'm typing and just display the next character. for example, I can be typing SLOWLY, hitting one at a time, spelling t-e-x-t and it will show up e-t, or something along those lines. Ill backspace to go back to the beginning to add in the missing letter and Ill hit T over and over and over till it eventually shows up, or some random character will show up.
