Google Nexus 5 :: Disable Quick Settings In Lock Screen / Android 5.0
Nov 14, 2014
I've noticed that Android 5.0 allows to change many system settings (enable/disable WiFi/BlueTooth/Autorotate/etc) on its Lock Screen without entering any password.
I hate this liberty. How to disable this feature? I cannot find anything in settings.
Is there a way to prevent or disable using the shortcut settings from the lock screen?
This person could easily turn the screen on, flop the screen down twice, use the short cut settings to turn off the Cellular data, preventing me from finding my phone using the device manager on the web.
The new screen lock sound on Android 5 is horrible and annoying. I disabled it but I'd like to change it instead. Is there a way ? I liked the one on kitkat.
I have a rooted nexus 5 running android 6.0 MRA58N. After I updated I couldn't set a lock pattern any more. I can access every area in settings accept the lock screen session. When I try to enter the lock screen session it gives me the "unfortunately, settings has stopped message."
One thing that I miss from CyanogenMod is the ability to add things to the quick settings menu. Is there an app available that will allow you to modify the quick settings menu on stock Android? My phone is rooted so but otherwise it's stock. I don't miss the instability of CyanogenMod, just that one feature, so I don't want to install a custom ROM, I just want to add a couple of things to the quick settings menu.
I didnt find any post about this issue so now i want to share it. If i turn on wifi in panel of quick settings, the phone doesn't connect to a network. But if i go to full settings it momentally connects. This bug i have first seen at marshmallow. How to fix it?
I installed the release Marshmallow factory image yesterday - MRA58K - userdata and cache wiped. I've got a very frustrating Wifi problem which wasn't present in Lollipop - connecting to Wifi via the quick settings tile is really slow.
If I toggle Wifi off and on again via the quick settings tile it takes anything between 10-15 seconds for the wifi connection to re-establish.
If I toggle Wifi off and on from the Settings --> Wifi menu the wifi connection is re-established almost instantly as expected.
Both toggle methods were almost instant in LMY48M connecting to the same router/wireless network.
I've tried various combinations of advanced wifi options, i.e. different frequency bands options (my network is 2.4ghz, so have tried 2.4ghz and automatic), network notification toggled on/off, have tried with mobile data enabled/disabled - same behavior.

Will root later on to see if logcat shows anything.
I've just upgraded to the Galaxy S5 (I've defected from the 'other side'!) and updated the OS to Lollipop. There's apparently a new feature which allows you to access things like the flash light, wifi etc from the lock screen (Screen shot below). But I'm swiping down on the lock screen and nothings happening. Is this something that needs turning on in settings somewhere? I've been hunting round on the net and whiles there's plenty of articles covering the new feature, theres nothing on how to enable it.....if it needs enabling.
So I have been using stock ROM or very close to for the past 6months or so and constantly have this issue despite clean wiping multiple times while moving from Lolipop to M preview to M. At first I thought it was my specific car but now is happening with the rental I have.i am new to Bluetooth so maybe normal but I don't think so. When I connect to my cars Bluetooth then make a call, after the call I get a constant "bluesleep" wake lock until I turn Bluetooth off. If I make a call during the day while driving then get out of the car when I get home, it keeps my phone awake all night unless I remember to turn blue tooth off.Ive noticed it only happens once I make a call or use the Bluetooth for something. If I just simply connect to my car, I don't get a wake lock.
Is this how Bluetooth is supposed to work? I can't imagine so but the fact I'm basically stock and have wiped many times and different android versions makes me think maybe it's just an android thing.
I have a Motorola Droid Turbo. I have never locked the phone. I downloaded ANDROID PAY app last night. It required a screen lock to secure credit card. I agreed and set up a pattern screen lock. I got tired of unlocking phone every time. I went to disable the screen lock and I am NOT ABLE to do that. The security settings for NONE and SWIPE have been grayed out and are no longer an option. I have removed ANDROID PAY and still have issue.
I know you can do this with smart pairing of Bluetooth devices but I was hoping to be able to do the same for when I'm playing music through my car's auxiliary jack / over the phone's speakers. I've done a fair bit of googling but haven't found a solution. I use llama app on my phone to trigger events and have tried setting a trigger using the music app to trigger the screen lock to disable but it doesn't work. I'm wondering if it's feasible to somehow trigger screen lock to be disabled when a music app is active?
I am trying to share my android screen onto a remote PC... Teamviewer Quick Support is not working... however, I have seen videos where it does work [Remote control plugin does not install -- Teamviewer addon for LG did install]. I have a Nexus 5, running CM 12.1 nightly. The screencast icon appears in the notification bar,... i have enabled screencast over wifi setting.
I switched from Samsung. There is a function with Samsung customized version of Android that when I play video full screen and hit on/off button, the screen is locked but video keeps playing. That is a really useful function.
My Nexus 5 has been acting a bit odd lately. So for the last month or so my Nexus 5 has decided it wants to restart itself randomly. Yesterday my phone dialed two people on my recent call log, app tile locations were moved or deleted off my homepage and a random letter email to a random letter email address was sent. Additionally two random downloads titled Servicelogin.html and releases.cfm were downloaded. The strangest thing is that I have a passcode lock on my phone so an accidental **** dial seems unlikely. I was scared I had some insane malware or something so I did a factory data reset and have had my phone off since.
I got nexus 5 a week back and sometimes the screen lock does not work even if I click power button to lock the screen. I just have to wait to get battery down then it starts working, i restart the phone couple of times but the same problem appears screen does not get locked automatically nor manually.
I uninstalled my Swype keyboard and was in the process of reinstalling a new one when my phone screen shut off. Now, on the lock screen, no keyboard pops up when I try to enter my password, only the Google Voice red button, which doesn't actually record anything. It just stays statically in red 'waiting for results.' When I press the keyboard image next to the password input box, the 'Choose Input Method' option shows up, with no options to select from. I've tried clearing the cache as well, to no avail.
How can I get past this seemingly minor problem which has completely locked me out of my phone?
Is it possible to add shortcuts to the lock screen similar to cyanogenmod does? I love to add a few like SMS, Browser, etc...Didn't know the best app to download.
Is there any way to remove the swipe from left to right pulling up the dialer? I just pocket dialed today for the first time.I don't really want to have to enter a pin, or a pattern, or anything like that. Ideally, I'd like to just remove that option from the lock screen.
well after few days reading different sites , youtube videos on how unlock the device lockscreen, I tried downloading adb tool , and droid explorer and even sdk tools. My main trouble is that half of my screen wont work and i cant get access to my mobile to unlock it.I tried to get in to recovery mode to wipe out the cache so i could get via usb my folder with my family pictures and so on , but after selecting recovery mode it says no commands available..
So this option is not working, is it cuz my usb don't have the settings to get into the folders or what. The phone is not rooted , i never enable anything so i guess that debugging i did read some post wont work with that adb commands from cmd..
I am trying to hide an app so that it doesn't show up on the android overview app screen - this is the swipe to close screen that shows up when you tap on the lower right hand corner of the nexus 5 and it shows all your running apps and you can swipe them away to close them. I would like to know how to make an app NOT show up in this list, even if it is currently running.
how to hide apps on the home screen or in the app drawer.
My device is a nexus 5, and I am currently running android 5.01
I download a battery percentage app and when the screen is locked I have the white notification bar in the middle of screen How do I remove it but yet still keep battery percentage in status bar?
I've replaced Hangouts with Textra. Seems to be a good choice. Only thing that bugs me is the notifications give you no information other than you've received a text. You have to unlock the phone then open Textra and find the message. It's a bit ordinary.
I tried Slidelock and NiLS but wasn't too fussed on either, though maybe I didn't set them up properly. NiLS was particularly annoying, with the notifications interfering with the lock screen operation. Slidelock was just plain buggy.
So i flashed the stock image and sideloaded 5.1 via WugFresh. Everything went fine and the phone told me i had to reboot it. I did and it sat on the google lock screen for way too long. I am able to hold down power button and volume and get back into recovery mode but the same thing keeps happening: stuck on the lockscreen.
