As the title states I'm moving from a physical keyboard to a software one however what apps are out there to make the keyboard better?
Or would the standard Nexus 5 keyboard be fine?
Does the standard Nexus 5 keyboard have have predictive text or will it auto correct itself?
How have people that used physical keyboards find typing on a software keyboard now?
My Nexus 5, with default Google Keyboard, has stopped showing word suggestions. It used to work but doesn't anymore. The keyboard is not set to the same language as the system language.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am wanting to jump on the Android bandwagon but was holding out due to the lack of a physical keyboard. I am on AT&T right now and have a Palm 680 - waiting for the Palm Pre to be released but it keeps being rumoured to be delayed.I know the Dream from Rogers can be unlocked to use on AT&T's 3G bands but that due to internal memory issues it can't be upgraded to new OS. But it seems to be the best alternative for my needs at this time.
Anyone have this phone and using it on AT&T? Any other ideas on what I should get given my requirements? Thanks in advance for any help on the matter
My BB Torch keyboard suddenly stopped working and cannot even input the password to unblock. I found out after several trials (don't ask me how many) that if I slided open and closed 2 times and then I press twice the "alt" button the keyboard starts working. Also the side button that I had for the camera is not working. Digital keyboard works fine. When the keyboard does not work, the outside keys (call, back, BB, touch pad, hang up) do not work either..

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Torch is only 2 months old, a few days back all physical keys went dead, - all in the slideout keyboard and all 5 keys at the bottom of the screen and lock button. The scroll function of the middle key however is available at all times as well as function of the side buttons on the right of the touch screen.
Also, ever since that problem started, whenever i punch a text and stop in the middle/end of a word and try to scroll the cursor back, it wouldnt move, instead it starts changing the letter last before the cursor - i.e., makes it capital or replaces it with a symbol.
The problem used to be fixed with a battery pull, but how many times in a day one can do that? But today it got worse - even after a battery pull it hanged again in 2 minutes.
i have just got a 9800 and updated the software however since the update i cant change the physical keyboard to a qwerty it is set to azerty

I'm wondering why you can't locks caps or numbers with the physical keyboard like you can with the virtual keyboard on the Torch? This as to be near the top of my list of most frustrating and counfounding 'features' of the Torch that drives me nuts on a daily basis. Is there any software update available that can make the physical keyboard work the same way as the virtual keyboard when it comes to locking caps and numbers?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Xperia pro (MK16a) So when you're entering text, if you hold down on the screen, you have the option to choose Japanese input and Chinese input. And when you choose Japanese input, you can also open up the setting menu, and inside the menu there are options for physical keyboard, and vitural keyboard. Although Chinese input does not have those settings, but surprisingly I CAN use Chinese input with my physical slide out keybaord. BUT, it is NOT the case with Japanese input. Please give me some guidence on how this works, is it a BUG or something? Because clearly it SUPPOSE to have the option to use my slideout keyboard for Japanese input.

Does anyone know if there is a setting somewhere I need to activate, or is this likely to be a device fault? (By the way, I downloaded the latest software update and rebooted and took out the battery etc...) Everything else seems to work fine.

I do not ever use the soft keyboard and it used to be the case that I would never see the soft keyboard as long as I had the keyboard tray open. But lately, I cannot make the soft keyboard go away. Now, on the lock screen, no keyboard pops up when I try to enter my password, only the Google Voice red button, which doesn't actually record anything. It just stays statically in red 'waiting for results.' When I press the keyboard image next to the password input box, the 'Choose Input Method' option shows up, with no options to select from. I've tried clearing the cache as well, to no avail.

View 4 Replies View RelatedUnder Settings/Sound, I have Vibrate on touch checked. I use SwiftKey and under those settings I also have it checked to vibrate on keyless but still nothing. I tried using the stock keyboard in case it's a SwiftKey issue but that doesn't vibrate either.
I just realized the phone doesn't vibrate at all, even for calls. When I set the ringer to vibrate, it's just quiet. Guess it's a hardware issue.
On my nexus 6 I've been using the Google keyboard which I do love but sometimes it's slowing down for typing is not as quick as my thumbs are.
