View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to figure out for weeks how to remove things from the predictive text dictionary. All the instructions I've found have had some version of long-pressing on "Predictive text" in the settings menu, but all that does for me is toggle it on or off. It doesn't open a new menu. I don't want to turn it off completely. I just want to delete my personalized typing history.
Two other things I've already tried with limited success:
Long-pressing on a suggested word so that it says " 'X word' will be removed from learned words" works for that specific word about 75% of the time, but it still sometimes continues to come up as a suggestion, and it only works on a word-for-word basis. I want to delete my entire history.
Going to the application manager and clearing the cache and data for the keyboard app deletes all of my personalized settings and appears to clear the text predictions for my SMS texting app, but it does not seem to clear my typing history for non-Samsung apps. Specifically, I use Aquamail to read and write emails, and I can literally rewrite an email using the predictive text on my keyboard.
Learned words are gone and won't add.. won't learn from my messages or apps. I get a 'keyboard has stopped ' message when I go into the predictive text settings... so annoyed. I've had every galaxy, this one has had so many issues.... dealing with this phone for about a year...

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Xperia pro (MK16a) So when you're entering text, if you hold down on the screen, you have the option to choose Japanese input and Chinese input. And when you choose Japanese input, you can also open up the setting menu, and inside the menu there are options for physical keyboard, and vitural keyboard. Although Chinese input does not have those settings, but surprisingly I CAN use Chinese input with my physical slide out keybaord. BUT, it is NOT the case with Japanese input. Please give me some guidence on how this works, is it a BUG or something? Because clearly it SUPPOSE to have the option to use my slideout keyboard for Japanese input.

I do not ever use the soft keyboard and it used to be the case that I would never see the soft keyboard as long as I had the keyboard tray open. But lately, I cannot make the soft keyboard go away. I have not upgraded to ICS or made any other changes to the settings.

[No Flashing] Everything went fine except the physical keyboard settings I guess. Because after updating, when I started typing using the physical keyboard, the key wasn't matching. View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen using predictive text under 2.1 on my X10i in the Message application, user supplied values (i.e. non standard words input previously) take precedence over standard words. Thus if I type 'no', I get 'Norton' suggested, if I type ''in', I get 'Did', 'to' gets me ' TOM'. I've tried to empty the User Dictionary (but I get told that there are no user supplied words, obviously wrong as I remember supplying Norton, Did etc..). I've varied the predictive text settings in Default Input (Quick Text Settings), off, automatic and Select Manually but it does not seem to make any difference at all, I can't even turn predictive text off unless I go to the Android keyboard level and strike out 'Quick Fixes'. As words such as if, to, in etcetera require me to override the prioritised setting then the value of predictive text is totally lost. Using a PC, I'd delete the offending software and try reloading a new version but I don't knpw how to do this is a X10 mobile phone environment. Similarly, I'd empty the dictionary so that the priority set was null, but I'm told by my 2.1 software that the dictionary has no words in it.

The predictive text has learnt many incorrect words.
I did a factory reset a week back but the words are back since ICS features a backup of the system to my Google Account.
I bought the Xperia X10 mini in Hong Kong but I live in Thailand. The people at the shop set it up for me to use in English and it worked perfectly until I upgraded to 2.1. Now there is a bunch of things in Chinese (including apps for the Chinese equivalent of youtbe and facebook!).
The main problem is entering text. When I go to new message, the keyboard is for Chinese by default. There's a button on the right to change to English but then I loose the the spacebar key which is replaced by the key for capitals. In addition there is no predictive text in English so I have to use multitap. Under Language and keyboard, I selected the UK and English for locale. However, under "Text settings" I only have "Chinese keyboard & HWR" and under that is not possible to unclick all of them, it forces me to have at least one selected.
Is it possible to do another upgrade from another location?
I am wanting to jump on the Android bandwagon but was holding out due to the lack of a physical keyboard. I am on AT&T right now and have a Palm 680 - waiting for the Palm Pre to be released but it keeps being rumoured to be delayed.I know the Dream from Rogers can be unlocked to use on AT&T's 3G bands but that due to internal memory issues it can't be upgraded to new OS. But it seems to be the best alternative for my needs at this time.
Anyone have this phone and using it on AT&T? Any other ideas on what I should get given my requirements? Thanks in advance for any help on the matter
My BB Torch keyboard suddenly stopped working and cannot even input the password to unblock. I found out after several trials (don't ask me how many) that if I slided open and closed 2 times and then I press twice the "alt" button the keyboard starts working. Also the side button that I had for the camera is not working. Digital keyboard works fine. When the keyboard does not work, the outside keys (call, back, BB, touch pad, hang up) do not work either..
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Torch is only 2 months old, a few days back all physical keys went dead, - all in the slideout keyboard and all 5 keys at the bottom of the screen and lock button. The scroll function of the middle key however is available at all times as well as function of the side buttons on the right of the touch screen.
Also, ever since that problem started, whenever i punch a text and stop in the middle/end of a word and try to scroll the cursor back, it wouldnt move, instead it starts changing the letter last before the cursor - i.e., makes it capital or replaces it with a symbol.
The problem used to be fixed with a battery pull, but how many times in a day one can do that? But today it got worse - even after a battery pull it hanged again in 2 minutes.
i have just got a 9800 and updated the software however since the update i cant change the physical keyboard to a qwerty it is set to azerty

I'm wondering why you can't locks caps or numbers with the physical keyboard like you can with the virtual keyboard on the Torch? This as to be near the top of my list of most frustrating and counfounding 'features' of the Torch that drives me nuts on a daily basis. Is there any software update available that can make the physical keyboard work the same way as the virtual keyboard when it comes to locking caps and numbers?

Does anyone know if there is a setting somewhere I need to activate, or is this likely to be a device fault? (By the way, I downloaded the latest software update and rebooted and took out the battery etc...) Everything else seems to work fine.

But when I use the google search widget or anything else that isn't text or email it doesn't show up. Basically if I'm using the keyboard but not typing a text message or an email the predictive text doesn't show up.
