Google Nexus 5 :: Keyboard Won't Pop Up During A Call?
Nov 21, 2013I'm unable to text while I'm on the phone, I can't even take notes because the keyboard won't pop up.
Is that a bug, or is it a setting I don't have right?

My Nexus 5, with default Google Keyboard, has stopped showing word suggestions. It used to work but doesn't anymore. The keyboard is not set to the same language as the system language.
View 7 Replies View RelatedFor months I was happily using my Nexus 5 with a SoundID 300 earpiece. Pushing the call button went into a dialer dialog with voice prompts and responses. Suddenly a few weeks ago it started going to the Google Now (aka Google Search?) function (the one you get when you say "OK Google"). Although it will generally recognize the same voice commands as the dialer dialog, there are no voice prompts or responses, so if Google Now has crashed or decides to prompt on screen for "OK or Cancel", I have to get the phone out and look at it to see why it didn't dial.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI uninstalled my Swype keyboard and was in the process of reinstalling a new one when my phone screen shut off. Now, on the lock screen, no keyboard pops up when I try to enter my password, only the Google Voice red button, which doesn't actually record anything. It just stays statically in red 'waiting for results.' When I press the keyboard image next to the password input box, the 'Choose Input Method' option shows up, with no options to select from. I've tried clearing the cache as well, to no avail.
How can I get past this seemingly minor problem which has completely locked me out of my phone?
I just got my Nexus 5 working today. I installed a keyboard app and everytime I use the app there is a little keyboard icon that shows up in the notification bar at the top left. How do I make that go away?

I just realized the phone doesn't vibrate at all, even for calls. When I set the ringer to vibrate, it's just quiet. Guess it's a hardware issue.
On my nexus 6 I've been using the Google keyboard which I do love but sometimes it's slowing down for typing is not as quick as my thumbs are.

How do you, in a simple way, make the phone vibrate for calls?
(I actually have an app for profiles and didn't notice this behaviour until a friend asked. I don't want my solution to people to what used to be simple to be "hey, get this profile app I use, spend 10 mins configuring that, and you're good to go!")...
I love my N6, but the in call volume is atrocious. I can barely hear anyone on the end. I can't see why google wouldn't have a immediate fix for this, its ridiculous.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm an immigrant to Android from iOS. On my iPhone, whenever there is an incoming call that I didn't answer, or a new message, there is always a very visible notification on the phone desktop, so I can deal with it immediately. This doesn't seem to be happening with my Nexus 5. Sometimes I don't discover the message, which was obviously designed for immediate reading, until days after, when I am going through my messages. I'm sure there must be a way to make the phone let me know, but I haven't figured it out yet.

I've posted screen shots below showing my settings. Regardless of this it's vibrating anyway.
Have a large delay when trying to dial numbers while on a call? For example, when inputting a conference call number I have to wait 2-3 seconds between numbers otherwise I get an error.
I am using an unlocked N6 on Verizon running LMY47Z for reference.
I have had my Nexus 6 for a while now and haven't had any problems with it. But since updating android to 5.1 I can no longer turn on my screen during a phone call. I can't hang up, hit any numbers or anything else. I changed the setting so when I hit the power button it ends the call. But I am still left with the problem of not being able to hit any keys so I can't check my voicemail anymore. I tried doing a factory reset and I am still left with that same problem.
