Google Nexus 6 :: In Call Volume Very Low
May 22, 2015I love my N6, but the in call volume is atrocious. I can barely hear anyone on the end. I can't see why google wouldn't have a immediate fix for this, its ridiculous.

View 7 Repliesafter update to 5.0 (or after reset) is volume during call very low. Although the volume button is on 'maximum' I am not able to hear someone if I am outside. Ofc in quiet room I can hear something. Nexus 5 like this is unusable now.
View 8 Replies View RelatedBlack 16GB Nexus 5 here. My in call volume using the earpiece is very very low since the 4.4.2 update. I have the volume maxed out and have already cleared cache, and even data reset once. Did not work at all.
The only way to use the phone making a call is to use a headset or be indoors in a very quiet room. Even then it's hard to hear the caller using the earpiece. I always have to use a headset for making calls.
I remember the in call volume being louder before the 4.4.2 update. After the update, however, the microphone functionality is improved and people can hear me better now (compared to 4.4.0 stock). However, it's hard for me to hear them.I just wanted to see if someone else faced this problem or whether this is a manufacturing defect in my phone.
I have an issue on my Nexus 5 where the Google Now volume is low - barely audible through wireless earbuds (Plantronics BackBeat Go 2). I can be listening to something else (music or a podcast or a phone call) and the volume is fine. But when I issue a Google Now voice command (e.g. What time is it?) I can hardly hear the response. The Google Now response volume is OK without the earbuds attached.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor months I was happily using my Nexus 5 with a SoundID 300 earpiece. Pushing the call button went into a dialer dialog with voice prompts and responses. Suddenly a few weeks ago it started going to the Google Now (aka Google Search?) function (the one you get when you say "OK Google"). Although it will generally recognize the same voice commands as the dialer dialog, there are no voice prompts or responses, so if Google Now has crashed or decides to prompt on screen for "OK or Cancel", I have to get the phone out and look at it to see why it didn't dial.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo one thing I really dislike about the nexus 5 and pretty much all Nexus I've owned, the volume Controls. If I'm in a place that needs my phone to not startle people I would want it to not do so. When I lower the volume it only lowers the "ring tone" and not alarms and notifications. Is there any way that when I lower the volume to vibrate or mute using the volume rockers to have it for ALL (ring tone, notification, alarm) at once? It's been bugging me for a long time, but I've had enough.
View 6 Replies View Related"The first is that the headphone jack seems a bit underpowered and doesn't produce anywhere near the volume level my S3 had with the same earbuds and software (PowerAmp)"
I am finding the same issue, however, not using PowerAmp - just using Google Music. It just doesn't get as loud as my S5 did. Is there a setting that I am missing?!
I am hearing impaired and would like to be able to boost the headphone volume of my Nexus 5. I have seen warnings about "blowing out the speakers" but not much about just headphones. Any volume boost for headphones that does not damage the cell phone?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am extremely satisfied with the stock marshmallow (MRA58N) . The only thing that bothers me is that I need to save my power button (random power off issue when pressing power button, may fail completely in near future). Right now I am using gravity screen app to use my proximity sensor to wake the device. This does not work all the time. I end up using the power button.I know almost all the custom rom out there supports volume rocker to wake. But I dont want to move to custom rom. So the way is to root. So here is my question
1. Will unlock the boot loader
2. Flash StephanMc_Kernel
3. Install twrp
4. Flash super su
5. After this what to do ?
I switched from a Motorola Droid Maxx on Verizon to a Nexus 5 on T-Mobile. The Maxx had outstanding volume. I could turn on Pandora and listen to music while in the shower or outside working. With the Nexus I struggle to hear the lyrics in the songs from only a few feet away. Is this normal for any of you or is mine particularly low?
View 3 Replies View RelatedOn my Nexus 5 the master volume control under settings seems to reset itself daily. The notifications and alarm volume setting turns down to very low even when I have set it to the highest volume level earlier that day or the day before. Its a problem when I'm using my phone as an alarm because I'll sleep through the alarm when it goes off and is very quiet! Is there anything I can do to stop it from resetting itself?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to turn the volume up/down with the side rocker buttons, but the dang things do not respond (and yes, the case has been removed). I've had to reboot my N5 each and every time, and its getting very old very fast. I find I have to go into settings and change it there. I've read that there might be an app running that is using my volume, not allowing me to change it. When I went into my apps to see what's running, its the usual stuff. Nothing that would be using it. So, is there an app to find out if there is a rogue app running I don't know about?

View 20 Replies View RelatedYesterday the volume down button and power button started not working. This has happened before and usually if I turn it off and on again the problem is fixed. That's not working this time. The power button works about 2/3rds of the time and the down volume button won't work at all, it sometimes even lowers the volume by itself. Because of this problem, whenever I turn the phone off and on again it brings me to the fastboot page and puts my phone on safemode, which I can't get out of. I've tried taking the battery out and putting it back in, doing a factory data reset, and using recovery mode.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I switched to the HTC One from the iPhone it was annoying that I no longer has a simply sound/vibrate switch anymore. It ended up not being THAT big a deal though since I was able to simply adjust the volume and/or sound profile of the device by waking it up and pushing the volume buttons. However on the Nexus 5, it's been quite frustrating because the only way to adjust the volume of the device is to wake up the device, unlock it and THEN adjust the volume. Not sure why Google would force you to take 3 separate steps to simply change the volume but it doesn't make much sense. Are there any apps or other tweaks (without being forced to root) that will allow me to adjust to volume from the lock screen (or even with the screen off)?!
View 9 Replies View RelatedGot the ota of Marshmallow 6 on my Nexus 6 from Verizon Wireless about a week ago....not to sure if this has anything to do with the new doze mode or not, but since the OTA, my volume on my ringtone, is grayed out, and I do not get any notification sounds or ringtone anymore.... How to make it right again?

View 8 Replies View RelatedTasker or any other program to automatically turn the media volume to max? This is convenient as I want the volume maxed out when I connect to my cars bluetooth (otherwise I really have to crank up the stereo volume), but I don't want media volume on max when not connected. In the past I have used one of two apps (Tasker or Bluetooth Connect & Play). Both of these apps are having issues adjusting the media volume when they worked perfectly on my pre kitkat phones. Sometimes it works correctly and maxes out the volume, other times it doesn't change it at all.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a Nexus 5 running 5.0.1 and the issue is that every time I switch my phone on the ringer volume is off, as in silent.
I usually forget to turn it back up until lunchtime by which time I've usually missed a couple of calls.
For the life of me I can't find where to set the default ringer volume. I've played with Settings>Sound&Notification until I'm blue in the face. Ring volume is on full. Power off and on again and it's back to 0.
My nexus 5 after some random reboots on latest cataclysm rom started to have a problem that power and volume button were not working at all. I have done everything and even flashed it all back to stock with no luck. The power and volume buttons work perfectly in bootloader mode but dont work in recovery or in the rom.

View 10 Replies View RelatedWhen I use the volume rocker (I'm on Lollipop) to go down to vibrate, notifications vibrate and make no sound, but if a call comes through, it turns off vibrate and rings with the ring tone.
How do you, in a simple way, make the phone vibrate for calls?
(I actually have an app for profiles and didn't notice this behaviour until a friend asked. I don't want my solution to people to what used to be simple to be "hey, get this profile app I use, spend 10 mins configuring that, and you're good to go!")...
I'm unable to text while I'm on the phone, I can't even take notes because the keyboard won't pop up.
Is that a bug, or is it a setting I don't have right?
I don't know if is the phone or Sprint, but there's any way to keep LTE on while on a phone call. I know my galaxy 1 and my IPhone 5s the LTE stay on during phone calls.
