View 4 RepliesAround a year ago, my Nexus 5 kept 'crashing' on a very regular basis. However, I'm saying 'crashing' between '' because the phone was still on. I felt it vibrating when I'm called, the music kept playing and the notification light flashes. So the device was on, the backlight was working, but my screen remained black. The only solution was to 'hard reset' the device (holding the power button +- 10 seconds). The problem however kept reappearing.
I send it back twice, did multiple factory resets (with and without backup) and it seemed fixed. Until now, the problem is back since last week.
Sometimes it 'crashes' twice in a row, sometimes the device works fine for another 24 hours straight. I'm currently doing another factory reset, but my experience tells me this won't really solve anything. This is also the reason why it's hard to explain this problem to the manufacturer: when I send it to them, I lose my phone for more than 3 weeks minimum and it could be that their tests show no problems at all.
I cannot seem to convince my camera app to operate. As soon as I touch the icon, it produces a window stating that unfortunately the Camera has stopped. Tried to switch off and on the phone several times, but to no avail. My Nexus 5 runs on 5.1.1.

View 5 Replies View RelatedEver since Tuesday morning on 10/28 Google Search app has been crashing repeatedly over and over again in the background. I did not think much of it first few times, but then yesterday and today it started becoming more frequent. It seems to be happening almost every hour.
So I started doing some trouble shooting and caught the app running at over 500 MB of RAM!! Then of course it shortly after crashed. I have attached a screen shot of that, in addition to battery stats from overnight when I was sleeping, so everyone can see how often it is occurring as well. I have reported at least 8 of the crashes to the Google report option that comes up.
So far I have tried restarting my phone multiple times, and have tried clearing the cache on the Google Search app. Still has made absolutely no difference. Would like to try to avoid resetting the phone if possible.
See screen shots below...
My Nexus sometimes randomly crashes and then has problems rebooting. I have factory reset the phone and even reverted fully to stock android. However, the problem persists. I have attached the logcat file pulled up to the crash.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Nexus 5, with default Google Keyboard, has stopped showing word suggestions. It used to work but doesn't anymore. The keyboard is not set to the same language as the system language.
View 7 Replies View RelatedGot the N5 in 2012 with 4.4.4 on loved it, no problems then. Then lollipop came along causing battery drain and random crashes. Waited for 5.1 hoping for fixes, installed it battery life improved but still crashed randomly. I put it down to the memory leak problem. I decided to downgrade. I downgraded back to kitkat 4.4.4 after unlocking the boot loader. Now I have random crashes running Kit Kat.
PS If I carry my USB battery pack around and keep phone plugged into it the phone never crashes. Its just not a very mobile phone then!!
Experienced this with the new Play Store. There books category is causing the app to crash every time I try to access it. If I delete the update it works with the old store.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Nexus 6 doesn't have a return key on the keyboard. Can it be added or is there another keyboard I can use that has the return key..
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm unable to text while I'm on the phone, I can't even take notes because the keyboard won't pop up.
Is that a bug, or is it a setting I don't have right?
I uninstalled my Swype keyboard and was in the process of reinstalling a new one when my phone screen shut off. Now, on the lock screen, no keyboard pops up when I try to enter my password, only the Google Voice red button, which doesn't actually record anything. It just stays statically in red 'waiting for results.' When I press the keyboard image next to the password input box, the 'Choose Input Method' option shows up, with no options to select from. I've tried clearing the cache as well, to no avail.
How can I get past this seemingly minor problem which has completely locked me out of my phone?
I just got my Nexus 5 working today. I installed a keyboard app and everytime I use the app there is a little keyboard icon that shows up in the notification bar at the top left. How do I make that go away?

View 4 Replies View RelatedUnder Settings/Sound, I have Vibrate on touch checked. I use SwiftKey and under those settings I also have it checked to vibrate on keyless but still nothing. I tried using the stock keyboard in case it's a SwiftKey issue but that doesn't vibrate either.
I just realized the phone doesn't vibrate at all, even for calls. When I set the ringer to vibrate, it's just quiet. Guess it's a hardware issue.
On my nexus 6 I've been using the Google keyboard which I do love but sometimes it's slowing down for typing is not as quick as my thumbs are.

View 20 Replies View RelatedAs the title states I'm moving from a physical keyboard to a software one however what apps are out there to make the keyboard better?
Or would the standard Nexus 5 keyboard be fine?
Does the standard Nexus 5 keyboard have have predictive text or will it auto correct itself?
How have people that used physical keyboards find typing on a software keyboard now?
I am rooted , Franco kernel r35 , and gravity box installed..Let's say after I restart the nexus , I can go through a couple of hours browsing Google chrome fine , then randomly the back button doesn't work along with the keyboard not popping up?Is it the actual nexus phone problem or is it the kernel..

With the keyboard i can type for at most 2 seconds then it disappears. I'm not turning it to portrait or landscape. I'm keeping the phone in the same orientation and the keyboard wont stop dispearing and then it wont appear again unless i restart the app even then it still disappears.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Google Plus (Version 4.7.1) app on my iPhone 5s (64 GB) crashes immediately after launching. I'm running iOS 7.1.2. I deleted all Google apps and reinstalled Google Plus. It worked briefly. I reinstalled Google Maps and Hangouts.
Now G+ freezes again.

So I've had no issues with Google Now/Google search until today. About 5 hrs ago I noticed the issue. I'm commingly swipe up to launch Google search or Google Now. Well about 2pm it wouldn't open, tried this about 5 times. Then it finally opened. Then froze the whole phone.
View 23 Replies View RelatedI am using a Sony Xperia Z2. I often take videos and photos on my phone and view them through the Google photo app. For the last couple of days, it keeps crashing. It says - 'Unfortunately, Photos has stopped'. I have uninstalled and re-installed the photo app, cleared the data and cache data off. No success.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a strange problem here which cropped up shortly after taking the most recent update from Verizon. In short, my Google Calendar is now crashing every time I refresh it in the calendar (i.e., pull down on a calendar day). Even with my all accounts set to NOT sync with Calendar and my calendar data cleared, it STILL crashes constantly. A screenshot of the crash is below. I have not installed any new apps or done anything "interesting" other than receive the VZW update.
Here's specifically what I've tried to do to fix this and what happens:
1) Disabled syncing of my 2 gmail accounts to this calendar.
2) Force-stopped the calendar app
3) Cleared the calendar data
4) Verified there are no events shown on the calendar UI
5) Opened calendar and either wait a bit, or pull down to refresh.
6) Receive "Unfortunately, Calendar has stopped"
The crash is always the same: "TimeFormatException,Unexpected character 0x5a at pos=8. Expected T.,Time.java,-2"
Having issues with chrome crashing and becoming unresponsive.
View 2 Replies View RelatedFor months I was happily using my Nexus 5 with a SoundID 300 earpiece. Pushing the call button went into a dialer dialog with voice prompts and responses. Suddenly a few weeks ago it started going to the Google Now (aka Google Search?) function (the one you get when you say "OK Google"). Although it will generally recognize the same voice commands as the dialer dialog, there are no voice prompts or responses, so if Google Now has crashed or decides to prompt on screen for "OK or Cancel", I have to get the phone out and look at it to see why it didn't dial.
View 7 Replies View RelatedYesterday I did an update to several programs including Google and noticed major battery drain. I was not sure which program did it but checked Battery in Settings and saw it was the screen causing the drain. Apparently when the Google program updated, it changed the setting for automatic brightness adjustment to ON. I turned it off and the battery is fine. I keep brightness set to about one quarter to one third brightness. I think the battery life is great and I can easily get thru the day.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm sure many of you have heard that when you enter an incorrect pattern/PIN/password, eventually the phone asks for Google account credentials to unlock it. My Nexus 5 on 5.1.0 does not do this. Does yours? If my lock screen is set to PIN, I can enter as many incorrect attempts as I want, it never asks and never stops me. If I have a pattern set it will let me enter 10 incorrect attempts after which it simply stops me from trying for 30s, but it never asks for Google account credentials.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running Cataclysm ROM (the Sept. 10 beta), Franco kernel, and I'm rooted and use Xposed. I receive this error when I try to add a card in Android Pay: "Android Pay cannot be used: Google is unable to verify that your device of the software running on it is Android compatible". I tried disabling root entirely and using RootCloak (Xposed) to hide root from Android Pay and Google Wallet, but I still can't use Pay. Wallet still works as it always has.
