I'm so ready to TRASH this blackberry, Ok so now I noticed that password protect is now enabled and now I can't disable it cause it has a little pic of a lock and now no choice to disable.
So now I can't send emails and now I can't disable Password lock(screaming)
I canīt disable the option for password lock, I donīt needed, for me is enough with the "lock keyboard" button . But no matter what I try even following the manual each time I enter the Security option Password lock only appears Abled, doesnīt give any chance to Disable it.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI updated to 5.0, it's ok, not great. One problem i have is my lock icon is now gone, i preferred to lock my phone this way and not use the lock button on the top left. To get it back, i enabled a password. Then it came back. So i figured i would just disable it and the icon would still be there and functional like it was with 4.7, it's not, it dissapears again.Is there anyway to get the icon back where i can just hit * and the phone icon to unlock, I know this is minor, but it is what I like.Also, with 5.0 my standby mode is not working anymore, any thoughts?*on a side note, I'm not a fan of my BBM and SMS looking a like and co-mingling when I have someone as a contact and BBM contact, just a preference.can someone get my lock icon back working without a password?
View 11 Replies View RelatedOk I ordered a Sprint Blackberry Tour off of ebay and I got it in the mail yesterday and I activated it and tried to text someone and it did not give me a option to text so my friend tried to text me and I did not get his text. So i went to the firewall section and it has a Check by "SMS" and the firewall is enable with a lock beside it and it will not let me change it I tried to wipe the device several time but it will not remove the firewall can anyone help me.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI dropped my Tour and scratched up the bezel, and made the dumb decision to replace it. Long story short, I messed up switching over the buttons, and I stripped the screw putting it back in, so there's no going back to fix it. Now, when I press the keyboard lock button, it doesn't work. I figured out that I can hold down "A" on the homescreen to lock it, but now how do I unlock it?!
And PS: DON'T CHANGE YOUR HOUSING/BEZEL! I would much rather have a dinged up bezel than the situation I'm in now. Looks like I'm stuck with this Tour 'till December. I hope that people listen to my housing advice, and not be naive and ignore others like I did!
I just upgraded from my old Curve 8330 to the Tour 9630, both on Verizon, and I couldn't be happier with my new device -- except for one thing. The Curve had a great "standby" function I could use at night, in which the phone would lock its keyboard and effectively shut down, but still be able to receive calls if one came in. This also saved lots of battery power. After hours' worth of mashing the top "lock" and "mute" buttons on the Tour, and searching through the internal menus, I can't seem to find a similar mode on my new phone.
First: If there's a thread about this already somewhere else, I beg your pardon; I'd be grateful for a link and I'll be on my way there. But if not, does anybody know whether some devices just do not have a standby mode anymore as part of OS 5, or whether there might be something wrong with my phone because its mute key won't activate standby mode?
The key lock button the top left works, but, at least on my Curve, the key lock and standby were two very different things -- I'd lock the keyboard when I put the phone in my pocket, but I'd put it on standby before bed every night. Does key-lock mode on the Tour replace standby?
i have seen videos on Internet of a tour running ultimate lock and was just wondering how this works since you cant touch and slide to unlock.

If I read the text using Crunch, the notification for Crunch disappears but the regular sms notification stays there until i check the message in my regular sms box. Is there a way to shut the regular sms notification?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI just got a used 8800 (Cingular) ver 4.5. The phone was wiped and I was able to set my own password. But I'd rather not have it lock at all.The help file indicated that PASSWORD could be disabled, but that does not work for me. I'm looking at Options > Security Options > General Setting.There's a password ENABLED field, but I can't change it, there is a little teeny tiny red lock icon next to the field.
I changed the security timeout to 30, and that helps.
Can anyone tell me how to disable the password lock?
One of the best features with my BB is the auto lock (an app I downloaded). It would basically put it in standby mode after a few seconds of inactivity. This was key because it prevented it from going off in my pocket.
With the new OS, the app doesn't work. I know there is a similar function with the new OS, but it requires a 4-digit (?) password as opposed to a quick 2-button key press to unlock.
Any ideas on how to get this back?
I am unable to setup my gmail account because I don't see the 'I want to create or add an email address' option button in the email setup screen..The setup screen only displays 'I want to use a work email account with a BlackBerry Enterprise Server'

I can lock it with the "A" key, but I can't unlock the phone no matter what key(s) I press. The only way to unlock is to turn it off and then back on. I'm open for suggestions.

When I plug my blackberry into desktop manager, the apps are not there to be loaded on. I tried downloading them online and on blackberry website to no avail. The tech guys from my work can't figure it out either.

I just upgraded my Verizon Tour this morning. Everything is working fine, but when I lock the screen, my owner information does not display.
Is that a "new feature"? It'd be nice to display the owner info if I accidentally leave my berry somewhere and all the person has to do is touch a button to display the info.
I just recently upgraded my Tour to OS 5.0 and the first thing I noticed was that the keyboard lock feature wasn't working the way it's supposed to. As a matter of fact, it's working in quite the opposite way. There used to be a setting that allowed the keyboard to be automatically locked upon holstering. I don't see that option anymore because now when I holster it, it doesn't lock. If I manually lock it and then holster it, it becomes unlocked.

I've tried to remove my battery, I've entered it like 30 +times, I even deleted the email from my phone. Now I can't add it back, it keeps saying that it's an invalid password and it can't validate, and to contact hotmail.com. I even changed my password on hotmail.com, I just logged into my hotmail on the actual computer with the correct same password, the same one that my BB won't take. When I put in my password on the email setup page it says, "Processing, please wait..." Then I get this error, "Invalid email address or password. Verify your email address and password. If the error persist, contact hotmail.com. " I have other email accounts on my phone that are working just fine.
View 19 Replies View RelatedAny ideas before I do a hard reset?As of last night, my Blackberry isn't fully unlocking after I type my password. I type the correct password and hit enter, the password entry section turns dark (or it will stay on the "Enter Password screen" and appear to freeze). (If I type the wrong password it simply prompts me again, so i know I am typing the correct password). This is after multiple battery pulls.Sometimes after typing the correct password, I can hold down the blackberry button and it will bring up the box that lets me switch to BBM, the browser, the Home Screen, etc and I can "switch" to that program, but there is a sort of frozen shadow of the Enter Password box over what ever app I switch to and I can't use the trackball or keyboard in those apps.This "frozen box' is preventing me from using any application on my BB!I CAN receive calls. Barely. I can only make calls if I pull battery and DON'T unlock the phone and go to the Place Call option.I upgraded to OS 5 over a week ago and things were fine until last night. I can hear my BB when it receives messages (the tones work) or txt etc but can't read anything due to the lock up!The only suspect is Google Talk which I installed two days ago and seemed to be hogging resources and draining the battery, however the phone worked fine for about a day with it on. Perhaps Google Talk is launching at startup and hanging things up? I doubt it but this is full disclosure.I have also, pulled battery and removed the micro-sd card to see if that had any affect -- alas to no avail.One analogy I can think of is it as if the Windows Explorer is hung but everything else is working.

This morning I changed my password on my gmail account and now it will not let me receive messages on my blackberry. I deleted the account through the email settings and tried to re add it and it keeps saying username or password is invalid. It seems very odd to me.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have just recieved an unlock code for my Blackberry Tour 9630, and noticed that when i turn off all network connections and go to Options>Advanced Options>Sim Card and type in MEPD nothing comes up telling me the status of my device i then type in MEP2 and still nothing. I have done it with and without the sprint sim card, i have also done a couple of battery pulls thinking that may fix the problem but no deal. Although when it does have the sim inside of it it says "SIM card: Security Disabled" I have driphters v12.1 hybrid, anyone think that may have an effect? i will go ahead and attach photos of the screen with and without the Sim.

I've updated the service books, tables, deleted my email account, created a new one, books and tables again, pulled the battery, everything. Nothing seems to work.I was getting all my emails last week and over the weekend I've just started to get only a few (call it 2/7 on average). Can anyone help me with what is going on?! This is very frustrating and the Verizon guys are about as helpful as rocks.
