I had the curve 8330 before this phone and i could set the phone lock to both right and left side convenience keys. there is no option on the tour. is there any way i can lock the phone from the convenience keys? thanks.

View 9 Replies View RelatedIt may sound trivial to some but one of my favorite BB functions was lost during the recent update and I can't seem to find how to restore it. I used to have the keyboard lock function assigned to the left side convenience key. This was really essential for me to have and now it is not available for me to assign when I try to assign something for the left side convenience key. I know the Tour has the option on the top of the phone to lock it but even when this is pushed, it will still unlock in my bag. How can I restore this option?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI updated to 5.0, it's ok, not great. One problem i have is my lock icon is now gone, i preferred to lock my phone this way and not use the lock button on the top left. To get it back, i enabled a password. Then it came back. So i figured i would just disable it and the icon would still be there and functional like it was with 4.7, it's not, it dissapears again.Is there anyway to get the icon back where i can just hit * and the phone icon to unlock, I know this is minor, but it is what I like.Also, with 5.0 my standby mode is not working anymore, any thoughts?*on a side note, I'm not a fan of my BBM and SMS looking a like and co-mingling when I have someone as a contact and BBM contact, just a preference.can someone get my lock icon back working without a password?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI just got my Tour about a month ago and this has bugged me since.Sometimes when I want to click the ball to select something, as I'm clicking it in it scrolls once to the right/left/etc. and selects something else.Like on my homescreen I want to select SMS to see my texts, as I'm clicking the ball it scrolls one to the right and ends up opening the Opera Browser instead.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI got my tour about 6 weeks ago, and am learning something new everyday. I lovingly call the phone "my smarter than me phone" I have used this forum alot to answer questions, and for the most part am pretty comfortable with the phone now.
The message indicator on the home screen sometimes displays to the left of the time, and sometimes to the right. I thought at first it was an am/pm thing, but 10 minutes ago (8:41 ayem now) it was on the right, and now it just jumped to the left.
The Other "Speaker" is a microphone.
I dropped my Tour and scratched up the bezel, and made the dumb decision to replace it. Long story short, I messed up switching over the buttons, and I stripped the screw putting it back in, so there's no going back to fix it. Now, when I press the keyboard lock button, it doesn't work. I figured out that I can hold down "A" on the homescreen to lock it, but now how do I unlock it?!
And PS: DON'T CHANGE YOUR HOUSING/BEZEL! I would much rather have a dinged up bezel than the situation I'm in now. Looks like I'm stuck with this Tour 'till December. I hope that people listen to my housing advice, and not be naive and ignore others like I did!
I just upgraded from my old Curve 8330 to the Tour 9630, both on Verizon, and I couldn't be happier with my new device -- except for one thing. The Curve had a great "standby" function I could use at night, in which the phone would lock its keyboard and effectively shut down, but still be able to receive calls if one came in. This also saved lots of battery power. After hours' worth of mashing the top "lock" and "mute" buttons on the Tour, and searching through the internal menus, I can't seem to find a similar mode on my new phone.
First: If there's a thread about this already somewhere else, I beg your pardon; I'd be grateful for a link and I'll be on my way there. But if not, does anybody know whether some devices just do not have a standby mode anymore as part of OS 5, or whether there might be something wrong with my phone because its mute key won't activate standby mode?
The key lock button the top left works, but, at least on my Curve, the key lock and standby were two very different things -- I'd lock the keyboard when I put the phone in my pocket, but I'd put it on standby before bed every night. Does key-lock mode on the Tour replace standby?
i have seen videos on Internet of a tour running ultimate lock and was just wondering how this works since you cant touch and slide to unlock.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOn the left side of the phone (same side as the micro usb port), there is a small 1/8" hole or port towards the bottom - about an inch up from the bottom. Can anyone tell me what that is for?
The reason I ask is because the first case I was using had a cut-out specifically for that port. But now I just switched to a different skin which doesn't. And I didn't want to cover it up if it was important..

Are they all the same size or has anyone had problems trying this. I'm not worried about taking it apart or the warranty, but would like to see if this was successful for anyone else first.
View 5 Replies View RelatedOne of the best features with my BB is the auto lock (an app I downloaded). It would basically put it in standby mode after a few seconds of inactivity. This was key because it prevented it from going off in my pocket.
With the new OS, the app doesn't work. I know there is a similar function with the new OS, but it requires a 4-digit (?) password as opposed to a quick 2-button key press to unlock.
Any ideas on how to get this back?
I lost my lock icon when I upgraded to 5.0. I've lost a lot more than that over the years. I'm over it. I can lock it with the "A" key, but I can't unlock the phone no matter what key(s) I press. The only way to unlock is to turn it off and then back on. I'm open for suggestions.
