I lost my lock icon when I upgraded to 5.0. I've lost a lot more than that over the years. I'm over it. I can lock it with the "A" key, but I can't unlock the phone no matter what key(s) I press. The only way to unlock is to turn it off and then back on. I'm open for suggestions.
I dropped my Tour and scratched up the bezel, and made the dumb decision to replace it. Long story short, I messed up switching over the buttons, and I stripped the screw putting it back in, so there's no going back to fix it. Now, when I press the keyboard lock button, it doesn't work. I figured out that I can hold down "A" on the homescreen to lock it, but now how do I unlock it?!
And PS: DON'T CHANGE YOUR HOUSING/BEZEL! I would much rather have a dinged up bezel than the situation I'm in now. Looks like I'm stuck with this Tour 'till December. I hope that people listen to my housing advice, and not be naive and ignore others like I did!
I just recently upgraded my Tour to OS 5.0 and the first thing I noticed was that the keyboard lock feature wasn't working the way it's supposed to. As a matter of fact, it's working in quite the opposite way. There used to be a setting that allowed the keyboard to be automatically locked upon holstering. I don't see that option anymore because now when I holster it, it doesn't lock. If I manually lock it and then holster it, it becomes unlocked.
has any one tried swapping out a trackpad in place of the trackball. i know the keyboard would need replaced also.i have found the replacement parts and i have someone who can help me take it apart but was curious if anyones done it ?
I just upgraded from my old Curve 8330 to the Tour 9630, both on Verizon, and I couldn't be happier with my new device -- except for one thing. The Curve had a great "standby" function I could use at night, in which the phone would lock its keyboard and effectively shut down, but still be able to receive calls if one came in. This also saved lots of battery power. After hours' worth of mashing the top "lock" and "mute" buttons on the Tour, and searching through the internal menus, I can't seem to find a similar mode on my new phone.
First: If there's a thread about this already somewhere else, I beg your pardon; I'd be grateful for a link and I'll be on my way there. But if not, does anybody know whether some devices just do not have a standby mode anymore as part of OS 5, or whether there might be something wrong with my phone because its mute key won't activate standby mode?
The key lock button the top left works, but, at least on my Curve, the key lock and standby were two very different things -- I'd lock the keyboard when I put the phone in my pocket, but I'd put it on standby before bed every night. Does key-lock mode on the Tour replace standby?
I purchased a tour 9630 and brought it to Venezuela, its works fine (calling and SMS) but when I tried to registered on any company BIS it says to me that the BB was suspended, how could that be possible, is there a way to unlock that? cause any company just says that its a BB company issue directly.
I have just recieved an unlock code for my Blackberry Tour 9630, and noticed that when i turn off all network connections and go to Options>Advanced Options>Sim Card and type in MEPD nothing comes up telling me the status of my device i then type in MEP2 and still nothing. I have done it with and without the sprint sim card, i have also done a couple of battery pulls thinking that may fix the problem but no deal. Although when it does have the sim inside of it it says "SIM card: Security Disabled" I have driphters v12.1 hybrid, anyone think that may have an effect? i will go ahead and attach photos of the screen with and without the Sim.
As the title states, my keyboard won't work at all and my trackball won't click in. I think it's because I touched my trackball when my finger was slightly wet. After that, I tried texting and the characters on the screen didn't correspond with what was being typed. Now it won't work at all. What can I do?
My keyboard backlight has a mind of its own. This is not a short, or electrical problem. It just works when it wants to. Sometimes it won't come on. Sometimes it lights up and works fine. Sometimes it fades off while I am typing. Sometimes it just illuminates while sitting on the table. I use my Tour in lowlight conditions all the time. I simply want it to come on when I touch a key and go off a bit after I am done handling it. Of course I navigated all the settings and stuff. I know all that. I have all the setting and options for the keyboard backlight set the way I want. This feels like a software or programming glitch. It never flickers or acts like a short. It slowly fades in and out as it would if I touched a key, or left it sit alone. Everything else works perfectly. I just want the keyboard backlight to come on when touched. And go off after several seconds of inactivity.
I've had my phone for a couple of months now and it's been fine. The last software update caused the phone screen to go dark every time I turned on the keyboard lock, which is ok. But now - often, but not always - I can't get the phone to unlock again. I can activate the screen by pressing the Blackberry menu button but it just tells me the phone is locked. Pressing the keyboard lock/unlock button does nothing. I have to either disconnect the battery or connect the phone to a power supply to unlock it. Seems a bit strange to me!
One of the best features with my BB is the auto lock (an app I downloaded). It would basically put it in standby mode after a few seconds of inactivity. This was key because it prevented it from going off in my pocket.
With the new OS, the app doesn't work. I know there is a similar function with the new OS, but it requires a 4-digit (?) password as opposed to a quick 2-button key press to unlock.
Blackberry tour 9630 working fine all of a sudden couldn't get any key on the keyboard to work. The "lock" keyboard button isn't locked and physically can't use phone keys or trackball to "engage" the device. When I receive a call, the screen displays (comes out of sleep) but I can't answer the phone, ignore the phone, etc. It's like the keyboard lock button all of a sudden locked and now won't unlock?
The button on the top of my phone is broken, so I cannot lock the keyboard. I also cant seem to make the side keys lock the keyboard either. Any other options besides setting a password?

How do I turn on password lock? I have it enabled but when I push the lock button up top, it doesn't require a password to unlock. The problem is, I want a password entered to unlock!
Scrolling through the topics looks like I too am a victim of the latest update! Can't stand what it did to all my icons, moved stuff around, etc. I cannot find my icon for the screen/keyboard lock. I don't know what other buttons I can press that would lock my screen so that it doesnt press buttons when its in my purse. help me lock my screen/keyboard!
I need a way to lock and unlock the keyboard. I have searched a number of websites for an answer to my dilema and it seems several methods are mentioned but none work for me. I need to lock the keyboard when phone is in my pocket.
I just upgraded my Verizon Tour this morning. Everything is working fine, but when I lock the screen, my owner information does not display.
Is that a "new feature"? It'd be nice to display the owner info if I accidentally leave my berry somewhere and all the person has to do is touch a button to display the info.
I'm so ready to TRASH this blackberry, Ok so now I noticed that password protect is now enabled and now I can't disable it cause it has a little pic of a lock and now no choice to disable.
So now I can't send emails and now I can't disable Password lock(screaming)
I updated to 5.0, it's ok, not great. One problem i have is my lock icon is now gone, i preferred to lock my phone this way and not use the lock button on the top left. To get it back, i enabled a password. Then it came back. So i figured i would just disable it and the icon would still be there and functional like it was with 4.7, it's not, it dissapears again. Is there anyway to get the icon back where i can just hit * and the phone icon to unlock, I know this is minor, but it is what I like. Also, with 5.0 my standby mode is not working anymore, any thoughts?*on a side note, I'm not a fan of my BBM and SMS looking a like and co-mingling when I have someone as a contact and BBM contact, just a preference.can someone get my lock icon back working without a password?
I had the curve 8330 before this phone and i could set the phone lock to both right and left side convenience keys. there is no option on the tour. is there any way i can lock the phone from the convenience keys? thanks.
I just used my upgrade on the verizon blackberry tour 9630, I'm a big texter and absolutely LOVED my env2! Any helpful hints? Advice to a new user? I actually will not get my phone till next week.
Can you replace a tour trackball with a curve one? I heard somewhere that it was possible. I changed the housing in my Tour to make it white but the trackball doesn't sit right and i have a problem scrolling down. I can't seem to get the trackball to sit properely in this housing its just not centered. If i can put a curve trackball in, which model curve do i use?
I've developed a problem with my 9630 (carrier: Sprint) recently. I won't receive emails on it for quite a while, but once I open my Internet browser, all of the emails I received since the last time I opened it will come through at once. If I check my messages, they're all listed as coming through at the same time, but inside the email, they're datestamped at the actual time they were sent.
Any ideas as to what it could be? I haven't changed any settings recently, the problem started independent of anything else, from what I can tell. It seems like a problem with my phone not checking for new emails until it uses data services (internet browser).
