BB Tour 9630 :: Replacement Tour Battery Draining Fast / Running Hot
Aug 2, 2010This is my third Tour (I just got this one a week ago) and with it sitting in my pocket where I have service, not running ANY applications, it is running hot and draining battery very quickly. Did a battery pull, double checked memory leaks, and nothing is taking care of it. It's draining at about 15% per hour. Any thoughts (other than Tours suck.)

Jun 9, 2010I dropped my Tour and scratched up the bezel, and made the dumb decision to replace it. Long story short, I messed up switching over the buttons, and I stripped the screw putting it back in, so there's no going back to fix it. Now, when I press the keyboard lock button, it doesn't work. I figured out that I can hold down "A" on the homescreen to lock it, but now how do I unlock it?!
And PS: DON'T CHANGE YOUR HOUSING/BEZEL! I would much rather have a dinged up bezel than the situation I'm in now. Looks like I'm stuck with this Tour 'till December. I hope that people listen to my housing advice, and not be naive and ignore others like I did!
BB Tour 9630 :: Need To Confirm Tour Key Lock / Standby Situation
May 19, 2010I just upgraded from my old Curve 8330 to the Tour 9630, both on Verizon, and I couldn't be happier with my new device -- except for one thing. The Curve had a great "standby" function I could use at night, in which the phone would lock its keyboard and effectively shut down, but still be able to receive calls if one came in. This also saved lots of battery power. After hours' worth of mashing the top "lock" and "mute" buttons on the Tour, and searching through the internal menus, I can't seem to find a similar mode on my new phone.
First: If there's a thread about this already somewhere else, I beg your pardon; I'd be grateful for a link and I'll be on my way there. But if not, does anybody know whether some devices just do not have a standby mode anymore as part of OS 5, or whether there might be something wrong with my phone because its mute key won't activate standby mode?
The key lock button the top left works, but, at least on my Curve, the key lock and standby were two very different things -- I'd lock the keyboard when I put the phone in my pocket, but I'd put it on standby before bed every night. Does key-lock mode on the Tour replace standby?
BB Tour 9630 :: Best Running OS For Tour?
Apr 21, 2010I was on official Verizon 4.7 and then tried Verizon 5.0 and it SUCKED big time. That's when I said screw waiting for official versions.I decided to try .419 and so far its been great. Now browser click issues, bluetooth seems ok, keyboard lock back (HUGE), no reception issues (switching out of 1XEV), browser is fast, OS is snappy with very little lag, boot up about 3-4 mins.
My questions are these:
1). What are the main differences between .419 and .484?
2). What benefit does a hybrid give?
3). Which hybrid works best with .419 or .484 (if I decide to go to .484?
I'm searching on how to install a hybrid so won't ask that.
BB Tour 9630 :: Not Being Able To Update OS On Apple Running Windows?
Feb 11, 2010I dropped the bold and at&terrible and have taken my business to verizon and am the proud owner of a tour last night trying to install 5.0 I seem to have run into an issue using swiss army knife AND DM it wont load past the Loading RAM phase ive done bat pulls re wiped the phone, removed and reinstalled software finally I just said it and went back to verizon 4.7 and I STILL can not get past the loading RAM image.I am running windows xp through VMware on a macbook. I did read somewhere that running windows this way you can NOT update OS's past 5.0 but why would I still be having the same issues trying to install 4.7 anyone care to chime in because for now my phone isnt touring at all.

Mar 14, 2010So today I had a unrecoverable 552 error and decided to just upgrade Sprint's 5.0 OS. Everything seems to be working fine, except now I'm getting the problem that the enhanced g-mail plugin isn't working correctly. I have it installed, but it doesn't seem to add any options for stars, labels, etc. It's listed in the applications page in the options, so I'm not sure what to do. I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it countless times and did a battery pull after each. Does anyone know what may be causing this problem?

Apr 25, 2010Has anyone noticed a bad battery drain on Sprint running .484 over the last 2 or 3 days or so? I don't know what the deal is, but I have been charging my phone over night, and within 2 hours, and barely any use at all, it drains to about 80%.I don't know why. I am not doing or running anything different than I normally do. Was just wondering if anyone else has been experiencing the same thing?The only thing I can think of is maybe they are doing something with the towers where I live, NJ, and that is causing my phone to search for a signal more, thus causing a drain.

So i cannot use any phone numbers that have a zero in it. and if i make an error on someones name that im tying to put in i cant backspace the name to correct it i have to exit out of the whole program."

Jun 8, 2010Recently got my hands on a unlocked 9630 from a Sprint buddy. Everything works browser, txt, MMS, calls, even my weather app. Just every time I try to log into Facebook, it tells me "Could not connect because a data service is not available. Please try again later. If this continues, contact your service provider for support".I came from a Tmo BB Curve so the service was already there. I re-registered on the BB network, resent the service books from the web and from my phone, did hard re-starts, went online to My Tmobile and updated the IMEI. I uninstalled the app from the phone, performed a hard reset, then reinstalled the app from the Blackberry App Store.

Apr 9, 2010One of the best features with my BB is the auto lock (an app I downloaded). It would basically put it in standby mode after a few seconds of inactivity. This was key because it prevented it from going off in my pocket.
With the new OS, the app doesn't work. I know there is a similar function with the new OS, but it requires a 4-digit (?) password as opposed to a quick 2-button key press to unlock.
Any ideas on how to get this back?

Apr 7, 2010I lost my lock icon when I upgraded to 5.0. I've lost a lot more than that over the years. I'm over it. I can lock it with the "A" key, but I can't unlock the phone no matter what key(s) I press. The only way to unlock is to turn it off and then back on. I'm open for suggestions.

Jun 5, 2010I'm so ready to TRASH this blackberry, Ok so now I noticed that password protect is now enabled and now I can't disable it cause it has a little pic of a lock and now no choice to disable.

Feb 15, 2010I just recently upgraded my Tour to OS 5.0 and the first thing I noticed was that the keyboard lock feature wasn't working the way it's supposed to. As a matter of fact, it's working in quite the opposite way. There used to be a setting that allowed the keyboard to be automatically locked upon holstering. I don't see that option anymore because now when I holster it, it doesn't lock. If I manually lock it and then holster it, it becomes unlocked.

Jan 25, 2010I have an issue with my BB Tour.When I woke up this mourning and took my bb off the charger.I notice there were HLhlhlhlhlhlhlhlhhlhl type on my bb so I tried to press the esc button and the end button and it didn't work. So I did a Battery pull and let it load up...and that when i found out that my trackball wasn't working.then all a sudden it started to type the HLlhlhlhlhlhlhhlhlh again.So I did a another battery pull and it did it again.So I wiped the phone decided to install 5.0 on my phone and I get the same thing.The only thing I did before my phone went hay wire was a couple days prior.I downloaded a couple free themes and screen saver from BB App World.I thought by doing the battery pull and wipe I would fix it but didn't. I know I didn't get my phone wet or anything can anybody explain this?

Jul 14, 2010I just updated the software on my Blackberry Tour and now my calendar is behaving as it did two software generics ago! Specifically, when I change and appointment to a future date and then save that appointment, the calendar moves to that future date! This is terrible if you are moving several items out to future dates! Previously, the changed entry would just disappear from the screen (moved to the new, future date) and I would remain on the day I was working on.Secondly, when I open a future day in calendar, the “All Day Events” do not show first (as they used to). Instead you have to scroll up to see if there are any of these type events.Does anyone know of a way to change these settings/defaults.

Mar 12, 2010Just went from a storm 1 to a tour and I am loving it. I can't believe how much more app. memory I have!
However, I cannot get my tour device to show up in windows explorer. It connects and I can browse my media card. There is no drive in windows explorer for the device itself. I can connect to desktop manager and back-up my device memory so I know the computer can read my blackberry device. I upgraded the os with no problems.
I am running vista home premium with blackberry os 5.0 from sprint. I am on verizon. I do have mass storage mode enabled and all of those memory settings set to yes (auto connect, etc.). BBSAK and Blackberry Master Control Program see the device as well. I do not use roxio media manager and it is not installed with my desktop manager. It was too slow and clunky when I had my storm so I never bothered with it.

Feb 10, 2010After I installed the new operating system I lost a feature. Both my husband and I have the Tour. For example, if you highlight the Games folder and press the Blackberry options, one Tour can choose "edit folder" and pick a new Icon. The other Tour mine is missing that choice. Any fix? If I create my own folder, I have the feature, but not for my Games, Applications and other folder that were there in the old OS.

Apr 26, 2010My Tour is 3 months old. Suddenly calls are dropping in the house and the battery charger is taking 10 hours to charge the spare OEM battery. Running the 5.0.419 and it's been fine. Verizon came out with theirs and it's so bad I went back to 419. Now I have an email from RIM saying new software for the phone is available but it doesn't say what version it is so I'm afraid to load it. Any one else have same issue? Phone was fine after going to the first 5.0 for 2 months but now after having changed from Verizon's 5.0. (been a month or so) the issues started about a week ago.
