BB Tour 9630 :: Standby Button No Longer Works After Upgraded OS From 4
Feb 17, 2010I am new to BB and have a Tour 9630.After "upgrading" my OS yesterday the former "standby" (mute) button no longer works.I tried to find a place to assign "standby" mode to the left or right shortcut key but no luck.Also, I noticed my Opera browser is significantly different (and more annoying) because clicking the trackball goes back.

Jan 19, 2010i havn't posted in a while on here. I had an origiinal tour from pre release in july 09. its been awsome ever since then. but the trackball has been crapping out lately. and vzw has sent me a replacement. well its trackball was worse lol. so i sent it back. anouther one came. and the standby button didnt click like my original one and like my storm standby and mute key they clicked too. 3rd one came today it dont click. you basically dont even know ur pushing it.
so my questions for you guys are.... when u press ur stanby button does it click or no? do u just know ur pushing it cause ur putting force on it? or does it click. please let me know, my vzw rep is following up with me tues @ 8pm est to check up on me and decide what we are going to do. any and all feedback is greatly appreceated. and this one came in a vzw certified replacement box the other ones came inside a brown box that had a plastic peice on them to snug the phone in it.
so does ur standby/mute key click? does the lock key click? thanks alot.
BB Tour 9630 :: Standby Button Not Working After 5.0 Upgrade
Feb 18, 2010Here's the results of my 5.0 OS upgrade using the recently released Sprint package:
1. Phone boot time, from battery out to usable (home screen icons displayed, etc): 3 minutes, 15 seconds! YES!!!
2. Threaded SMS messaging is nice!
3. Phone doesn't feel any "faster".
4. Being able to set the phone to automatically adjust for time zones is nice--I don't recall that being an option before and has always bugged me.
5. QuickPull Free didn't work at first. Had to be uninstalled and reinstalled.
6. Standby button no longer putting phone into standby.Still works for mute/unmute though.
Of all of these, item #6 is the only one that bugs me a bit.I think the standby operation still works in general, as when I put it into the holster, the screen did turn off, but I don't use the holster and usually "lock" the phone by holding down the mute button to go into standby.
So, does anyone know if the Lock button does pretty much the same thing as Standby, or is there really a big savings in battery life by going into standby mode? As long as battery life isn't too adversely affected, I'm pretty sure that I'll stick with this release. Hopefully the next OS upgrade will restore the button... unless someone here knows how to fix the issue now!
BB Tour 9630 :: Gmail Plugin No Longer Works?
Mar 14, 2010So today I had a unrecoverable 552 error and decided to just upgrade Sprint's 5.0 OS. Everything seems to be working fine, except now I'm getting the problem that the enhanced g-mail plugin isn't working correctly. I have it installed, but it doesn't seem to add any options for stars, labels, etc. It's listed in the applications page in the options, so I'm not sure what to do. I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it countless times and did a battery pull after each. Does anyone know what may be causing this problem?

May 19, 2010I just upgraded from my old Curve 8330 to the Tour 9630, both on Verizon, and I couldn't be happier with my new device -- except for one thing. The Curve had a great "standby" function I could use at night, in which the phone would lock its keyboard and effectively shut down, but still be able to receive calls if one came in. This also saved lots of battery power. After hours' worth of mashing the top "lock" and "mute" buttons on the Tour, and searching through the internal menus, I can't seem to find a similar mode on my new phone.
First: If there's a thread about this already somewhere else, I beg your pardon; I'd be grateful for a link and I'll be on my way there. But if not, does anybody know whether some devices just do not have a standby mode anymore as part of OS 5, or whether there might be something wrong with my phone because its mute key won't activate standby mode?
The key lock button the top left works, but, at least on my Curve, the key lock and standby were two very different things -- I'd lock the keyboard when I put the phone in my pocket, but I'd put it on standby before bed every night. Does key-lock mode on the Tour replace standby?

Apr 12, 2010I recently updated my Verizon BB Tour 9630 to OS v 5.0.0.591. Ever since the upgrade I cannot put my phone into Standby Mode. The mute buttom works when on a call, just not to put the pgone into Standby Mode anymore.

BB Tour 9630 :: Alternative To Keyboard Lock Button On Tour?
Jun 9, 2010I dropped my Tour and scratched up the bezel, and made the dumb decision to replace it. Long story short, I messed up switching over the buttons, and I stripped the screw putting it back in, so there's no going back to fix it. Now, when I press the keyboard lock button, it doesn't work. I figured out that I can hold down "A" on the homescreen to lock it, but now how do I unlock it?!
And PS: DON'T CHANGE YOUR HOUSING/BEZEL! I would much rather have a dinged up bezel than the situation I'm in now. Looks like I'm stuck with this Tour 'till December. I hope that people listen to my housing advice, and not be naive and ignore others like I did!
Xperia Z2 :: Camera No Longer Works When Shutter Button Pressed
Aug 4, 2014Just updated my phone to 5.1, when pressing the shutter button for quick way to take pictures, it now takes 30seconds for camera to come on screen then flickers and won't take a picture. Is there anyway I can reverse this upgrade as it has not improved anything on my phone, it is still very hard to hear when ringing or playing music and now I can't take pictures correctly.

Jun 8, 2010Recently got my hands on a unlocked 9630 from a Sprint buddy. Everything works browser, txt, MMS, calls, even my weather app. Just every time I try to log into Facebook, it tells me "Could not connect because a data service is not available. Please try again later. If this continues, contact your service provider for support".I came from a Tmo BB Curve so the service was already there. I re-registered on the BB network, resent the service books from the web and from my phone, did hard re-starts, went online to My Tmobile and updated the IMEI. I uninstalled the app from the phone, performed a hard reset, then reinstalled the app from the Blackberry App Store.

Jun 10, 2010Two-three days ago I could send emails new, reply to older ones, etc,Today my Tour just will not send new emails. I can reply to older ones...I cn SMS and MMS.When I try to send...The only option offered is to "save as draft" and when I do...the email address is wiped or missing.
I'm on OS 5 Verizon.
I haven't changed any settings recently. I've pulled the battery several times.
BB Tour :: Services No Longer Supported On 9630?
Apr 13, 2012I have been using the blackberry services from Airtel on my TOUR 9630 from the last 5 - 6 months with no issues. I have a prepaid connection and I usually recharge my account with sufficient balance so that the blackberry services are automatically renewed. However, I missed to re-charge last month and thereby the service was de-activated.
I tried to re-activate to the service 3 days back and I also got a succesfully activated message from Airtel. But my mails were still not synced also I was unable to send any mails.
On contacting the Airtel Blackberry Customer Service I got to know that blackberry services are no longer supported on 9630 model and the amount that has been deducted already can be used if I move my sim to a different blackberry device. This is definitely not acceptable.
Has blackberry actually discontinued its service for TOUR 9630 ? If so what will the existing users do ? And why at all the amount is deducted if the model is not supported at all ?
BB Tour 9630 :: Longer Than 160 Character Support Build Into OS?
Jun 1, 2010I used to own beyond160, it stopped working when I went to OS5.419, anyway.Yesterday, Monday, I was typing an SMS, I dropped by phone, but when I picked it up I noticed something different. Underneath the name in the SMS where it shows the characters left in an SMS, it said "160 (1/6)". I was able to type, the 160 would count down, and once I passed the 160 mark it said "160 (2/6)". I opened new SMS threads, exited in and out of messages, was able to span texts.This support for spanning texts came out of nowhere, but I look at my phone now, and it's gone! back to 160 and saying Field Full after I finish typing.

Dec 30, 2010I recently updated my sprint 9630 to v. 5.0.0.1030 (bundle 1675, platform 4.2.0.451). My desktop manager no longer recognizes the phone when I plug it in. My laptop rcognizes that the phone is plugged and it is charging the phone as well, but the software doesn't work. It keeps telling me that it is disconnected. When I run update for the desktop software it says I have the latest version installed. It still shows that my device software version is 5.0.0.983. I have turned off my firewall temporarily, rebooted the laptop, did a battery pull on the phone and nothing works. It still does not recognize the phone.

Jul 18, 2010Unless I never noticed it I was wondering is there an option where I can ignore a call if I don't know the phone number? The reason I ask is I will be in the United States from July 30 - August 27, however I already purchased an American calling plan that gives me 100 roaming free minutes when I make or recieve a call. Anyway it also turns out my number is 1 digit off from the University of Toronto, so there have been a few times when I got phone calls from people thinking that's who they are calling. Now the reason why I am asking is if I can ignore some calls is just incase I see a phone number I don't know while I am in the United States, so I don't want to pick it up and I don't want it going to my voice mail incase they leave me one and then I need to call it and delete it.

I changed the housing in my Tour to make it white but the trackball doesn't sit right and i have a problem scrolling down. Feb 12, 2010I've developed a problem with my 9630 (carrier: Sprint) recently. I won't receive emails on it for quite a while, but once I open my Internet browser, all of the emails I received since the last time I opened it will come through at once. If I check my messages, they're all listed as coming through at the same time, but inside the email, they're datestamped at the actual time they were sent.
Any ideas as to what it could be? I haven't changed any settings recently, the problem started independent of anything else, from what I can tell. It seems like a problem with my phone not checking for new emails until it uses data services (internet browser).
