I got phone calls today and every phone call had the contact name "Stephanie -insert her phone #-" the strange part was that it wasn't Stephanie calling, it was one of my other contacts. Every time I got a phone call, it would always say it was Stephanie, but it wasn't. Then, when I'd go into my call logs, it'd show the accurate names of the people who called me.
View 1 RepliesI have a Tour 9630, sw version 5.0.0.732. When the phone rings, it does not display the name of the caller, just their phone number, even if that number is in my address book. Once I answer the call, the name is then displayed.Naturally I'd like to know who the caller is before I answer! I found a couple posts asking a similar question, although for different model phones. Some of them suggest that I must disable content protection... but I can't find this in the options. Even in the User Guide, it contains instructions (go to Options > Security Options > General Settings... but there is no "general settings" on my phone.)

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a Unlocked Tour 9630 which I am now using with FIDO . Everything on the phone seems to work EXCEPT . CALLER ID , which is driving me nuts , not knowing whose call I missed.
80% of people calling the phone it will say "UNKNOWN CALLER" . There are only a few of my contacts that their name will appear when calling . The rest of my contacts, although I have their numbers saved in my phone will still appear as "UNKNOWN"
I've done everything from , changing around my Smart Dialing to include my area code and canada as the country code . Encryption is disabled on the phone.
The Phone was originally Set up with VERIZON .
After searching forums and finding nothing except how to avoid or block unknown callers, I can't find an answer to my problem. I get calls from unknown callers and need to answer them, but my phone wont let me hear the caller. Help , I called tech service went to the Sprint store and no one can help. Any Ideas? When I received a phone call on the 8830, if number was in my address book, the screen would show the name of the person, their location (work, home, etc), and the number as I had it formatted in the address book, such as (555) 555-5555.I imported the address book to my Tour, and everything looks exactly the same as far as how the data is formatted in each contact.However, when a person calls, the phone just shows the persons name with an unformatted phone number, such as 5554445565, and does not show where the person is calling from, such as (Home), like the 8830 did.

I would expect, like every other phone I've ever seen, that it would display the associated name.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have just bought a Nokia 2220 slide, and have always had Nokias and loved them, as easy to use. However, I can not make this phone display the number that is calling? For example I have added my home number as a contact, as well as my partners mobile, and both phones when they ring it comes up as "call" and then if I miss the call, it states (no number). And I know for a fact both of these numbers are not private. Is there a setting I need to change to make the number display? I have turned on my info display for other callers, but this has not helped.

I was able to associate an image in the contacts list but for some reason, when that person calls me, their picture doesn't show on the screen. Now...any incoming call...from any of my contacts...it says 'unknown'.
I have played with the app's Merge+ and Contacts+....nope....just will not show the contact name of incoming call. (Just want these contacts to reside IN my phone...just like they nice and simply did in my old Nokia).
Recently got a new 5800 xpress music and have entered all contacts into mobile. When contacts are calling me it is not displaying their number just saying call calling. Having noticed some people have been having same problems,I have checked that I do not have any duplicate numbers stored, and have also tried saving only to sim or only to phone but neither are allowing the number to be displayed. I run my own business so this is getting annoying as if I miss a call I don't have a clue who it is and can not return any calls!! Can anybody help!

I changed the housing in my Tour to make it white but the trackball doesn't sit right and i have a problem scrolling down. I can't seem to get the trackball to sit properely in this housing its just not centered. If i can put a curve trackball in, which model curve do i use?

I won't receive emails on it for quite a while, but once I open my Internet browser, all of the emails I received since the last time I opened it will come through at once. If I check my messages, they're all listed as coming through at the same time, but inside the email, they're datestamped at the actual time they were sent.
Any ideas as to what it could be? I haven't changed any settings recently, the problem started independent of anything else, from what I can tell. It seems like a problem with my phone not checking for new emails until it uses data services (internet browser).
Is this possible if so how?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've researched my problem on other posts, and still not completely sure if my problem is unique or not.I have an unlocked Sprint 9630 I grabbed from our IT department before a trip to Turkey. It was supposedly deactivated - turns out it is still active on a Sprint number.
I've replaced the Sprint SIM with an Avea Turkish prepaid SIM that has data and Blackberry capability. It works fine for phone and text, but no ability to register the email with Avea Blackberry. Tech support there unable to determine the problem (unable to connect to server is the error message, both with phone and online).If I can deactive the Sprint number will that help? Or am I just out of luck.
I have an issue with my BB Tour.When I woke up this mourning and took my bb off the charger.I notice there were HLhlhlhlhlhlhlhlhhlhl type on my bb so I tried to press the esc button and the end button and it didn't work. So I did a Battery pull and let it load up...and that when i found out that my trackball wasn't working.then all a sudden it started to type the HLlhlhlhlhlhlhhlhlh again.So I did a another battery pull and it did it again.So I wiped the phone decided to install 5.0 on my phone and I get the same thing.The only thing I did before my phone went hay wire was a couple days prior.I downloaded a couple free themes and screen saver from BB App World.I thought by doing the battery pull and wipe I would fix it but didn't. I know I didn't get my phone wet or anything can anybody explain this?
View 13 Replies View RelatedThis is my third Tour (I just got this one a week ago) and with it sitting in my pocket where I have service, not running ANY applications, it is running hot and draining battery very quickly. Did a battery pull, double checked memory leaks, and nothing is taking care of it. It's draining at about 15% per hour. Any thoughts (other than Tours suck.)

View 8 Replies View RelatedI just updated the software on my Blackberry Tour and now my calendar is behaving as it did two software generics ago! Specifically, when I change and appointment to a future date and then save that appointment, the calendar moves to that future date! This is terrible if you are moving several items out to future dates! Previously, the changed entry would just disappear from the screen (moved to the new, future date) and I would remain on the day I was working on.Secondly, when I open a future day in calendar, the “All Day Events” do not show first (as they used to). Instead you have to scroll up to see if there are any of these type events.Does anyone know of a way to change these settings/defaults.
View 7 Replies View RelatedJust went from a storm 1 to a tour and I am loving it. I can't believe how much more app. memory I have!
However, I cannot get my tour device to show up in windows explorer. It connects and I can browse my media card. There is no drive in windows explorer for the device itself. I can connect to desktop manager and back-up my device memory so I know the computer can read my blackberry device. I upgraded the os with no problems.
I am running vista home premium with blackberry os 5.0 from sprint. I am on verizon. I do have mass storage mode enabled and all of those memory settings set to yes (auto connect, etc.). BBSAK and Blackberry Master Control Program see the device as well. I do not use roxio media manager and it is not installed with my desktop manager. It was too slow and clunky when I had my storm so I never bothered with it.
After I installed the new operating system I lost a feature. Both my husband and I have the Tour. For example, if you highlight the Games folder and press the Blackberry options, one Tour can choose "edit folder" and pick a new Icon. The other Tour mine is missing that choice. Any fix? If I create my own folder, I have the feature, but not for my Games, Applications and other folder that were there in the old OS.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI dropped my Tour and scratched up the bezel, and made the dumb decision to replace it. Long story short, I messed up switching over the buttons, and I stripped the screw putting it back in, so there's no going back to fix it. Now, when I press the keyboard lock button, it doesn't work. I figured out that I can hold down "A" on the homescreen to lock it, but now how do I unlock it?!
And PS: DON'T CHANGE YOUR HOUSING/BEZEL! I would much rather have a dinged up bezel than the situation I'm in now. Looks like I'm stuck with this Tour 'till December. I hope that people listen to my housing advice, and not be naive and ignore others like I did!
My Tour is 3 months old. Suddenly calls are dropping in the house and the battery charger is taking 10 hours to charge the spare OEM battery. Running the 5.0.419 and it's been fine. Verizon came out with theirs and it's so bad I went back to 419. Now I have an email from RIM saying new software for the phone is available but it doesn't say what version it is so I'm afraid to load it. Any one else have same issue? Phone was fine after going to the first 5.0 for 2 months but now after having changed from Verizon's 5.0. (been a month or so) the issues started about a week ago.
