The question is I live outside US and I need to get it unlocked.Now, I saw that at at&t store, they are selling the torch for 499 dollars without contract. I am sure this is locked.If I can get this phone (I know I need to get someone with at&t to go with me to buy it), I can unlock it. This is for sure, right?
I see that some sites are selling it for 599 and 699 dollars but I dont want to pay the extra amount if I can get it unlocked.

I just got a blackberry torch 9800 from UK and tried to put globe sim card on it but the phone is requesting for a password. I tried cancelling it and noticed the "invalid simcard" on my phone.

View 9 Replies View RelatedFor some reason my Torch will unlock by itself when placed in my case. The case was for a 9700 Bold and I tried at the ATT store with a pouch 'designed' for the Torch with the same results. The lock/unlock key is so sensitive that even in my pants pocket it will unlock.
All of my old BB's would not unlock until I hit the 2 combo keys which was fine. At least the bold would stay locked in the pouch which was fine.
I bought a unlock code for the blackberry torch(9800) but when i enter the mep code it says me error code and it mark me 0 tries what can i do?

The Competition was sponsored by RIM & AT&T.Phone came with no contract and no commitements.I want to give this phone to father as a gift(lives in othercountry) but I don't have a unlock code. View 5 Replies View Relatedi unlocked my BlackBerry Torch at ProMobileMotion.com which was recommended somewhere on these forums , i used to have an issue with my Unlocked Torch before going there, i wasn't able to recieve or send MMS or use the browser, after getting the unlock from that site, everything works including facebook FINALLY! My question is, when i go over seas, which i tend to do at least once a year, and i put a new sim card in, will i need to reconfigure my settings again? or will the browser and mms automatically work with no issue?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have had the torch for about 2 weeks and initially didn't like it at all, I had a Curve for 2 years but dropped it once too often :-(. Anyway I am a big guy 6'2" 225 and I am still getting used to typing (hope i will), but the biggest issue I have is the "Lock" button for the phone. I usually keep the phone in my pocket and if you breath on the lock button too hard the phone unlocks. Is there an option for holding the lock button down for "X" seconds before the phone unlocks, I loved that you had to hit 2 keys to unlock the Curve. I really don't want to deal with a password, is that my only option?
i really only want it for text,email and talking to people, would I be better off with the new Curve 3G?
I'm not able to zoom in on CNN either by double tapping or by pinching. Why is this? Just some pages won't allow it or what?

I am unable to connect to Rim's push network, Att 3g bar shows five bars and I can make calls and send texts but recieving email or using bbm cant be done. weird thing, when i log on to a wifi connection RIms icon comes back and i start recieving email and bbm works. View 4 Replies View Related1. Doesnt Turn On (I Get red light for approx 1 min with charged plugged in ONLY / then changes to charging sign on screen.
2. If chargers unplugged nothing happens no lights nothing (tried all battery pull far from this now)
3. Install all the software needed to do a full re-install BBSAK + JL_Cmder + Loader "to no avail"
4. When using the above said software i get an error on the COMPUTER saying "Cannot connect to JVM" Click either retry or cancel. the phone then seems to be going into a LOOP again, the windows device notification sounds every so many seconds.
Phone also never changes from a black screen with battery sign with lighting strike through it!Prior to the above the phone was fine, what this could be as it seems that most other threads and posts about JVM Errors seem to have a specific code and this one doesn't.
I downloaded an .exe file, a .jar and a .sis file, but these files cannot be opened on my phone. It displays a "Unable to display" message.. I have a Blackberry Torch 9800.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I set up my Torch 9800 to connect to Wi-Fi, the home screen reports the SSID of the access point, but when I attempt to use the browser, it reports "Unable to connect to the internet, please try again later." The "Device and Status Info" screen reports the WLAN IP Address as 0.0.0.0. My wireless access point reports that the BB device is "on", and is assigned an IP address (192.168.2.17).
At one point my initial screen reported that three updates were available. However, each time that I clicked on a line offering an update, an error message reported that "The data service is not operational", and the message about the update went away.
Snooping with Wireshark show that, when the BB is turned on, an ISAKMP tunnel is established between the BB device (at address 192.168.2.17) and segw.uma.rogers.com (at 74.198.30.49), so there is absolutely nothing wrong with the physical wireless connection. (My cellular supplier is Rogers.)
My BB was received (brand new) in early April 2012, and I updated the device from 6.0 bundle 695 to 6.0 bundle 2921 on 2012-04-12, after installing the Desktop Software on my PC. (The Desktop Software offered the update, so I just did it; I was not even aware of this community until later.)
I have successfully downloaded .mp3 audiobook files from the library via OverDrive Media console to my new Torch but I can't download books in .wma format.I see that older Blackberry devices do not support .wma files and they must be converted but I bought the 9800 because I thought it supported .wma files.I am running 6.0 bundle 278 (v6.0.0.141, platform 6.4.0.64)The error from OverDrive says that RIM does not support this file type.If it isn't supported, what 3rd party conversion tool can you recommend?
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I got my Blackberry Torch 9800 everything worked for two days well not everything the browser said "uncaught exception java.lang illegal state so I did the sofeware update.After the update a I was unable to use the BB Messange..I went to my Service Provider and they told me I had to reload my OS which they did.I can send and recieve textes and calls but I still cannot get instant messaging, BB messanger and emails. I live in the Cayman Islands and my service provider is LIME. I bought this phone from Amazon via the OEM Planet in April.

When someone else tries to call me i am unable to pick up the call. I have tried everything which i can think of but cannot pick up the call. Even hands free is not helping here.
All other functions are fine. all keys are working fine. I am facing issue in making and taking calls.
I've seen a few threads on this with older blackberries but not the torch. Ok, I can browse the internet all day with the torch with no problems, but whenever I turn WiFi on I get the "unable to find the requested server" error message.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI lost my bb 9800, i think i have data somewhere on bb server because when i login on BB protect website i can see that in archived back up details but i'm unable to restore it. And when i try to restore on my new 9810 it says "This data is already wirelessely synchronized with a remote service and cannot be restored by blackberry protect" only for contacts. And i've archived the device by mistake n now it shows "Remote admin commands are not available on archived devices".
