I am a technician configuring a BB for a customer. I just wiped the device and reloaded the OS, including the base software and a few specific programs I've installed on every other blackberry I've done as per company standard. I've tried multiple battery pulls and I've tried reloading the OS through the blackberry desktop software, and it hasn't fixed my issue:
The trackpad only works in specific menus, and it seems to half-work in others, requiring me to use the touchscreen to navigate. Specifically, it WILL work if the selection is currently in the app list, or if I am in the Options. It does NOT work to transition from the home screen to the app list, when viewing the user agreement after pushing programs through desktop manager, and it does not work at all when I am in the Setup. It doesn't appear to be a hardware issue, because the trackpad seems to specifically work in some areas and not work in others. When it works, it works 100%, and when it doesn't work it is useless.
Are there troubleshooting steps I should attempt, or is this an issue that would be better handled by the carrier? The phone technically "works" but I don't want to give a phone with limited functionality to this customer.

May 23, 2011Last year my Verizon 9930 and this year my wife's ATT 9900 stopped working after a few days of use overseas. Under both circumstances the phones were perfectly fine for the first few days after which the keyboards became unresponsive (delayed response, not being able to unlock, reboots). Battery pulls did not change anything. Interestingly you could see the email count going up so the phones were connecting. 24 hours after retuning to the US both phones worked as if nothing happened.

I then decided to purchase a 9930 to be safe, but am having difficulties connecting it to my Brazilian phone provider (the data does not work, but voice is good). confirm that the 9930 really only adds CDMA technology to the 9900 and should be working with my Brazilian GSM provider?

It's too difficult to removeļ»æ the BB from those holsters, when you grab it to slide it out, you also push the volume up key.I prefer the face-in spring loaded belt holster like I used with my Bold 9650. I am using ones designed for the Bold 9000 and they fit, but the holster sleep mode doesn't work. I tested the holsters with an old 9000 and they do work correctly, but no luck with the 9930 - as if the magnets are in a different location.

2G Signal not working.I have had my BB Torch Since November last year, I have been working away from home alot and never had any problems with signal. It has always been on 3G set up on my phone.Due to a new little family member i have had time off from my work and been staying with my family, I have noticed that the signal in my house on 3G is not great. I switched it over to 2G on my handset and noticed it gets NO SIGNAL at all. I went out side and still the same no signal on 2G but soon as i change it over to 3G its fine.In the past i have had the Bold 9000 and it was set up on 2G & 3G so it would change over to which is stronger.I got my old bold out and have tried my sim in it and it works on 2G with no problems.Is there a fault in the torch with 2G signals?
BB Torch :: Password Works Only For Unlocking Device?
Jul 11, 2011The password that I use for unlocking the device works, because I just entered it and unlocked the device. However, when I connect it to the computer via a USB cable the same password doesn't work. The password is all letters. I do not remember ever entering a password to synch my device before so I can't remember if that is supposed to be the same password. I did try once with caplocks on just to make sure that the password wasn't all caps, but that did not work either. I'm baffled. My blackberry would somehow "know" when I arrived at work each day and turn on the wifi and logon to my corporate network. I found this to be the most amazing feature ever! No longer did I have to worry about draining my battery because I forgot to turn off my wifi.Then I updated my OS to 7.1 from 7.0 and now this no longer happens and I don't know how to reactivate it. The good news is I am back on 7.0 due to a device switch. The bad news is I cannot figure out how to make this work again.

Sep 29, 2011The touch functionality still works, however, the screen does not light up or becomes extremely distorted and fuzzy most of the time. I called Rogers support and they seemed to believe it could be a software problem - but are you serious? I think they were just blowing me off.Okay - basically about a month ago, my screen would become pixelated and distorted when i would slide my touch screen up to reveal the keyboard. This problem still exists today. Ic ould sometimes get rid of it by locking and unlocking the screen, but after a day or two that never worked, so I began to use the phone only by using the touch screen. However, for about a week now the screen does not light up at all anymore. I would press the lock button and the bottom four buttons would light up - I would press the lock button again and they would turn off, but no screen illumination. Maybe - MAYBE - once a day I can manage to illuminate the screen and use it. But for the most part, the screen stays unlit.
