I have a verizon bold 9930 that I received last week, no third party apps besides what was preloaded on the phone. Yesterday, I noticed that when I answer phone calls I cannot hear the other person unless I put the phone into speakerphone mode. Is this a hardware issue?

I am a technician configuring a BB for a customer. I just wiped the device and reloaded the OS, including the base software and a few specific programs I've installed on every other blackberry I've done as per company standard. I've tried multiple battery pulls and I've tried reloading the OS through the blackberry desktop software, and it hasn't fixed my issue:
The trackpad only works in specific menus, and it seems to half-work in others, requiring me to use the touchscreen to navigate. Specifically, it WILL work if the selection is currently in the app list, or if I am in the Options. It does NOT work to transition from the home screen to the app list, when viewing the user agreement after pushing programs through desktop manager, and it does not work at all when I am in the Setup. It doesn't appear to be a hardware issue, because the trackpad seems to specifically work in some areas and not work in others. When it works, it works 100%, and when it doesn't work it is useless.
Are there troubleshooting steps I should attempt, or is this an issue that would be better handled by the carrier? The phone technically "works" but I don't want to give a phone with limited functionality to this customer.
when i try to use the speaker mode sounds really low or if i try to listen per say a voice msg from wazzapp sounds very low imposible to hear it
View 9 Replies View RelatedI would like to know the official comment from Sony on the low in call volume of the X10. There are load & loads of people on the web complaining about the issue, on my X10, I can only hear a phone call if I am indoors in an extremely quiet location.. if I am outside, near a road etc I cant hear, and it is even worse on speaker phone. I would estimate the volume needs to be boosted by 50 to 100%, seriously the lowest volume of any phone I have ever owned.. which is a shame, as the rest of the phone is great.
Is there an official fix / patch in the works for the volume issue? or is this not being recognised as a widespread issue.. or is the hardward simply not able to do it?
It seems if I use "Poweramp", as a music player, I can adjust the EQ and boost the volume of Mp3's etc to a fairly decent level (much louder than the phone volume), so I'm sure it could be done with software...
I am only after an official Sony response, not people's opinion's, there are lots of other Posts like that, but I cant find any response from Sony to the issue.

When I am outside and I receive a call I can barely hear the person!! I've pushed the volume button up to 10 during a call but I still can barely hear a thing! I've had to resort to selecting loudspeaker to be able to hear anything. Obviosuly this isn't ideal!

I have went through 3 bionics and all of them have had this issue, in order for me to adjust the volume during a phone call I have to pull it away from my ear, let the screen light up, and then it will let me change it..

The phone works fine with both blue tooth and ear buds and plays music over the speaker just fine. But if someone calls me I have shift to speaker mode to be able to hear them. I've confirmed the volume is up, I've tried turning off the phone and turning it back on and I tried before and after syncing.

If I use the holster that came with my 9930, it goes into sleep mode like it is supposed to, but I don't like that holster. It's too difficult to remove the BB from those holsters, when you grab it to slide it out, you also push the volume up key.I prefer the face-in spring loaded belt holster like I used with my Bold 9650. I am using ones designed for the Bold 9000 and they fit, but the holster sleep mode doesn't work. I tested the holsters with an old 9000 and they do work correctly, but no luck with the 9930 - as if the magnets are in a different location.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had a white Z5 Compact for a week and have now noticed that the bottom speaker is much louder than the top, ruining the stereo effect. I am sure it did not come this way out of the box. I didn't notice until after the recent firmware update (32.0.A.6.152), but cannot know whether this is the cause of the problem. I went through the hassle of factory reset and the phone still has the problem. I haven't subjected the phone to any physical trauma at all and will be returning it.

I'm not always in a plae where I can talk on speaker :). I took it to an apple store about 8 months ago and of course, it worked just fine for them while I was there. some apps, like the music app, no longer display a volume slider. Even when connecting headphones, sounds cannot be heard from the iPhone. Any suggestions? It appears as though it is not only a hardware issue, but also a software one. I have restored my phone twice, with no noticeable effect.

i just purchased a replacement bb bold 9000 off ebay (it's an unlocked at&t handset that i bought after my bb bold got stolen... total bummer) and it was working fine all week up until last night when it stopped being able to handle incoming and outgoing calls and texts. The internet and email functions still work which is very peculiar. also some further info, when i put my sim card into another handset (in this case a nokia e65) all my normal call functions work and when i put another sim card in the bold the same thing happens (when i try to make a call it instantly pops up with a call failed warning). another thing is the bold shows full service coverage... currently the bold about shows... v4.6.0.304 (Platform 4.0.0.247) im on australia and for some reason i cant update the os to v5
View 5 Replies View RelatedLately I've noticed that I've been missing a lot of calls and texts, which I finally realized was from the phone not producing sounds. The only way I can get the speaker to work is to either remove the battery cover, or to apply pressure to the bottom of the cover while it is on (or pressing on the speaker grille) so I'm assuming it's some sort of physical connection issue. I don't understand why it would work with the battery cover off though if that was the case, so would a new battery cover fix everything? Or am I stuck with a vibrate-only phone until my next upgrade?

I find the call volume very low even in a quiet environment. If outside, I find it very difficult to hear what my clients have said.One fact business people love blackberry is because it has got good call and ringtone volume.N900's ringtone volume is good, but the call volume is just too low. (I have already used the side button to max the call volume, the strange thing is, 50% and 100% make very little difference...)
