BB Bold :: 9930 X 9900 (GSM X CDMA Data Handling)?
Sep 18, 2012
from the link below and from the comparisons in the RIM website, I had the impression the 9930 only added CDMA to the 9900. I then decided to purchase a 9930 to be safe, but am having difficulties connecting it to my Brazilian phone provider (the data does not work, but voice is good). confirm that the 9930 really only adds CDMA technology to the 9900 and should be working with my Brazilian GSM provider?
Last year my Verizon 9930 and this year my wife's ATT 9900 stopped working after a few days of use overseas. Under both circumstances the phones were perfectly fine for the first few days after which the keyboards became unresponsive (delayed response, not being able to unlock, reboots). Battery pulls did not change anything. Interestingly you could see the email count going up so the phones were connecting. 24 hours after retuning to the US both phones worked as if nothing happened.
Blackberry Bold 9900/9930, which cost around £500 only has a **bleep** JM1 1230ah battery.New Curve 9920/9930, which cost around £150 has a mega JS1 1450ah batterry.Question, how can RIM explain how a great phones is ruined by a **bleep** battery, why do we have to use aftermarket batteries to get through the day.If the bew CEO is reading this SORT IT OUT!
I found out that when I try to dial something in the "Phone" section (Phone icon), there is a sound - how do I disable it?Also I use a pre-paid package, when I check my fone balance, there is always a network notification sound that is REALLY loud (!) and there is absolutely no way to reduce the volume or make it silence.I work at office and I want to silence the key tone when dialing in Phone section, along as reduce sound or silence the network notification sound when check balance.Atm the only way is to switch to Silence or Alerts Off modes.
If I use the holster that came with my 9930, it goes into sleep mode like it is supposed to, but I don't like that holster. It's too difficult to removeļ»æ the BB from those holsters, when you grab it to slide it out, you also push the volume up key.I prefer the face-in spring loaded belt holster like I used with my Bold 9650. I am using ones designed for the Bold 9000 and they fit, but the holster sleep mode doesn't work. I tested the holsters with an old 9000 and they do work correctly, but no luck with the 9930 - as if the magnets are in a different location.
I previously had a BB Curve. I store a lot of information in the notes portion of my contacts. With the Curve I could search for items stored in notes and it would display any contact that contained the search criteria. I currently have a BB Bold 9930. When I do the same type of search it doesn't retrieve the contact. I spent a lot of time and energy to store needed information for quick reference and now it is useless.
this bb bold 9900 is my first bb. been using this for the past 2 months and was great. suddenly over these past few days, sometimes i cant get data conection. ping and dns lookup is ok.
Am using the bb bold9900. I suddenly lost all data pictures, videos and music files.Am able to take pictures and the camera captures as normal but then the pic is not saved strangely enough the total number reduces and no picture saved. Same happens for music files or videos downlaoded or received via either bluetooth or email.Another strange thing is I still have pictures attached to contacts and the ringtone for my profileOther than that everything works well.
I live in Jersey UK and I have a pay-as-you-go SIM card from Jersey Telecoms. I can check emails using POP3 and SMTP on my existing mobile. I just ordered a 9900 from amazon. Will I be able to put the SIM card in my blackberry to check my emails?
My daughter has just upgraded from a curve 8520 to a Bold9900 the problem is she has used over her limit of 500mb of data in under a month, she mosty uses facebook, but is not doing anything different from when she had her curve, we cannot understand how she is using so much data we have checked her bill and some days it is saying 30 mb of data which we thought was impossible, could anyone help me to sort out this problem, we have wifi in the house and have set her blackberry so she can use this at home but it stops her from sending or receiving messages and calls.
On my older 8520 I could go into Settings and turn off date at night, so no emails or BBM or Facebook came thru. Just calls or texts. How do I set that on the Bold 9900?
I got a replacement Bold 9900 when my previous one developed hardware issues. I transferred the SIM card to the new phone which is now operational. I also did a backup restore which retrieved my Contacts, WiFi and other data but not pictures and files. So, I tried to connect to my old device with a USB cable; this prompts me to sign-in which does not work I think because the SIM card is not there(?)
Is it possible that I connect to my old phone as a USB device when it does not have a SIM card?
I am trying to back up all my data before doing a security swipe (impossible to connect to BBID and this seems to be the only solution...) but Blackberry Protect isn't working online (it says my phone is busy and the back up cannot be completed).I've tried to back up via my software but none of my contacts, pics, calendars or tasks appear when I click on the logo. I cannot even update the phone's software as nothing seems to work... I cannot use my phone properly and there is no way to call IRM (O2 said they could not help, great...).
I purchased new Bold 9900 and want to transfer contact list from old Curve 8900 to new phone using Bluetooth. The 8900 transfered all data, confirming the number of entries it transferred, but the 9900 only received the first entry in my contact list. How do I get all contacts into the 9900?
After putting my phone on charge last night, I woke up to my 9900 with a blank screen and a red light that blinks every couple of seconds. No amount of battery pulls would fix the problem. Upon researching for a solution I discovered that this issue is actually a very common problem with the 9900. At this rate, I don't really care about recovering my phone as it seems that the model is entirely unreliable anyway. Just want to know if anybody with this issue has been successful in retrieving files stored on their device. I recorded some important videos a few days back, and stupidly saved it directly onto the device instead of the memory card. Desktop manager doesn't recognize the phone with or without the battery inserted.
My phone was stolen and I know who has it but I can't get it back from that person yet and Im worried that the person does something to my phone. Although I have a password lock on it and my Mum called up the company to lock the phone I am worried that the persona will attempt at the password more than 10 times which would cause my phone to wipe everything. I have just about everything on the phone that I need for my lessons and also notes/planning on a couple of my subjects so I was wondering if its possible to recover it if the person does wipe the phone....
Can someone tell me how to transfer the data from my 9900 to the 9700 without going through the the phone, my phone fell apart after 4 days (keys fell out of the keyboard), my service providor gave me a loan phone, and now I cannot get the data transfered from my 9900 profile to the 9700..
My two months new 9900 dead on me yesterday. I am told there is a short on the system board and BB will not power up. I need to get my contact information and some data in my BB back up somewhere until I receive my new phone, anyway I can do it? I tried many ways including remove battery and connect to USB, I also have my 9900 charged for more than 10 hours already. Still no power.
I have a Blackberry Bold 9900 with IMEI 35856604xxxxxx, I did an update for the software version 7.1.0 Bundle 2061 however I entered the password 5 times due to a non functional button on my keyboard and all data was wiped. Unfortunately I do not have a backup and I lost all my contacts and media files. Is there a way to rollback knowing that I did previously an upgrade for the software version over the air, so probably my data is stored somewhere on RIM servers.
i upgraded the software on my 9900 and now my data plan isnt working.i dont know what to do, tryied calling the network they promised to help and this is from this morning.
I can't seem to send my own content mp3 files (home made) in a text message to people. Also, getting these mp3's into my phone seems to be more of a headache than it should be. I would like to be able to just have a "sync folder" I could synce my home made mp's to like you can for photos or voice notes or ringtones but for my mp3's.. But no, I have to go through iTunes and it just makes it a hassle and quite frankly puts my phone and apple in more control of MY OWN CONTENT than they need to be. Also, once my own content mp3's are in my phone, its like I have no control over them. They go to this place where my phone has all the control, I can't delete them directly from my phone, I can't email or text them to people...All the time from other people without iPhones I get mp3 files of funny skits, or jokes, etc.. Or more importantly our own content made songs. But I can't seem to do that with my iPhone. Can someone explain to me how I can ? Or explain to me why Apple has so much control over my own content if it is in a mp3 format on my iPhone ?
I recently took 6 pictures of my friends math notes. And i wanted to sent the pictures to my computer but i dont have the cable around me. I tried to select the 6 pictures in the camera roll and "share". But then there is no share button. Only "message" and "print". And the copy button is grey, so i couldn't copy. after 5 min of trying different stuff. I realized that only albums allow you to "e-mail" or "copy" pictures? So I created the album and clicked on the pictures that I recently tooked. And when i look back to the camera roll. The 6 pictures were still there. I didn't like have multiple copies of the same stuff. So i deleted the 6 pictures in the camera roll. But then the 6 pictures in my albums were gone too... So now i have no pictures to work with..
I consider myself an above average tech savvy consumer and I love gadgets and gear. I plunged in and bought the MOTOACTV because, I love the concept of an all-in-one device. I love that it's small and lightweight. I've used the device once before accidently dropping it resulting in a big chip. I have some suggestions to protect the glass, and perhaps make the MOTOACTV more user friendly during the workout. I noticed that the glass is beveled above the frame. While beveling is attractive for design, it seems risky for glass, even "Gorilla glass." (1) I suggest bringing the lip of the MOTOACTV frame over the glass. My guess is that that will reduce the number broken screen incidents. I appreciate that once in the clip, the MOTOACTV is pretty firmly seated. I was wearing the clip on my waistband (I'm only about 5lbs overweight according to the BMI, so that means I don't have a big spare tire spilling over my waistband) when it fell off moments into the run. Fortunately, I was wearing wired headphones, so the MOTOACTV did not go crashing to the ground. So, (2) make the clip an optional accessory and the armband or wristband standard. The armband or wristband would allow easier access MOTOACTV during a workout, reduce the need to handle the MOTOACTV during the workout thereby reducing the risk of dropping it.
Maybe my experience of a broken screen is uncommon. I live in New Englang and like to workout outside even during the winter. That means gloves and less dexterity in handling small items. Even without winter weather, I think something this small can easily be dropped unless prevenative measures are in place. My last suggestion for the MOTOACTV after my brief experience is a screen lock to prevent accidental input during workouts. This would be particularly useful if Motorola continues to issue the clip as the standard mounting form. Several times during my run I accidentally forwarded to the next song or started a song over by accidently tapping the screen. Music is important to getting in the groove of a workout (where music is being used) and anything that interrupts the groove is very frustrating and who needs that when they are already in pain!?! Further, go back to point 1, accidental input while MOTOACTV is on the waistband is a reason to handle it during a workout/run and a chance to drop it and be unhappy with Motorola.
