All of a sudden my home keys across the bottom of the 9800 do no light up. I checked the backlight settings for display but they had no effect on the home keys. Even in a completely dark room, when I take the 9800 out of the holster, the screen lights up but the home keys are out.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had my BB Torch 9800 for about 6 months now and I really like it. It seemed to be working fine and all of a sudden about a month ago the keys would stop working. I have taken the battery out for a reset and that works for a little while, but they stop working again. The phone has not water or physical damage to it so I have no idea why it has started doing this. I called AT&T several different times and all they could tell me was to troubleshoot the software. I have done that and did all of the necessary updates.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi've had a torch 9800 since last Christmas, and it's been working fine (with the occasional battery pull, of course). but now i have a strange problem. in the last couple weeks, i've noticed that the back arrow and the red key to the right of the trackpad no longer have a light showing behind them. (nor does the trackpad, but i don't remember if it ever did light up) it's not really a problem, as they still work, but it looks really weird!i have tried a battery pull many times, to no avail. and i also tried installing a brand new os, but likewise had no success with that method. in any case, it is now running the newest os possible (6.0 bundle 1907, v6.0.0.448). it's also running 3G, if that matters.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having issues with the keys not working properly on the touchscreen keyboard. When the phone is in portrait and I press on a key what shows up is the key at the left end of that row ex: if I press L an A shows up on the screen, if I press U I get a Q. If I turn the phone so that the keyboard is now on the same side as the USB port I only get whatever buttons are on the bottom of the screen. If I turn it 180 degress none of the keys work.
I have also noticed this happening in applications like Google Latitude. If I press any of the icons on the bottm of the screen the only one that registers is the zoom out key.
If I do a battery pull things work well for a bit and then it starts acting up again.
I haven't seen anyone else posting about this and I am hoping that it is just this phone. I am exchanging it tonight.
Anyone notice that when you make a phone call there is a red flashing led that you can see through the casing directly to the right of the status light? Took a week for me to notice.

The LED indicator will be lit up for a short period of time, for a total of two times. After that, the system reboots itself. It is not because of the bluetooth (I leave it off and do not use.) if the message indicator is on it is purple (blue + red). The other colors still work but end up blended with the blue. I have pulled the battery. (obviously it didn't help or I wouldn't be posting this.) I have contacted my carrier for support. No help. They will just replace the phone. My warranty is void and can't afford to buy a new torch. I have turned off everything I can and checked all options. Check the cpu and can not find anything running that shouldn't be.

My 9800 has the latest version of BB OS available (unless there was one released within the last 4 days) The red light only comes on when charged and goes on and off. When plugged into my PC it disconnects from the PC and then reconnects. Sometimes the charging battery symbol comes on and the blackberry loading screen after but the blackberry loading screen shuts off. I have tried a new battery and that is not the issue.
I read that you can do an OS reload but my BB is not showing as connected under my connections (the noise indicates a device has been plugged in)
I had my torch 9800 almost a year now and I woke up saturday morning to find it completely off and it was on charge all night, I've tried taking the battery out and putting it back in. I've also had the battery out for 24 hours and when I put it back in the red light comes on for about 20 seconds (steady not flashing) and the goes off but that's only happened the once other than that I've had no luck. I've left it on charge tried a different battery and it still doesn't work. I've also put by battery in another torch and it works fine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe touch functionality still works, however, the screen does not light up or becomes extremely distorted and fuzzy most of the time. I called Rogers support and they seemed to believe it could be a software problem - but are you serious? I think they were just blowing me off.Okay - basically about a month ago, my screen would become pixelated and distorted when i would slide my touch screen up to reveal the keyboard. This problem still exists today. Ic ould sometimes get rid of it by locking and unlocking the screen, but after a day or two that never worked, so I began to use the phone only by using the touch screen. However, for about a week now the screen does not light up at all anymore. I would press the lock button and the bottom four buttons would light up - I would press the lock button again and they would turn off, but no screen illumination. Maybe - MAYBE - once a day I can manage to illuminate the screen and use it. But for the most part, the screen stays unlit.

Last night before sundown the icons were not lit. It was too dark to see them without being lit. It also depended on the position. I do not know if this was due to internal position sensors or just getting different levels of light from the light sensors. I called Verizon Tech Support and they said this was normal. If I select it after I have deleted it, it's just a blank message. Any ideas as to how to resolve this? The only thing that has worked for me so far is to reset the phone. I don't want to have to do that each time a message of this type comes in to my inbox.
