I have been having problems with stopping the accidental hit of the onscreen mute or speaker buttons when I am using the phone. I noticed that if my face is too far away from the phone or I switch ears this can happen. Is there any way to lock the screen while I'm on the phone?

It's my first touchscreen phone, so I'm sorry if this has been discussed before.While I'm on a phone call, the following buttons automatically appear on the touchscreen: Mute, Hold, Speaker Phone, and Add Recipient. I have yet to complete a phone conversation without hitting one of these buttons with my cheek. I cannot for the life of me find a way in Options to stop these buttons from appearing during phone calls.I am actually considering returning the phone over this.

I have tried locking the phone while talking, but still run into the same problems. Is there a solution? Do I need to just hold the phone 5 inches away from my fat cheeks? No water damage, no drop damage, just stopped working. I am limited in what I can do and almost every time I want to close an application, i need to remove the battery because there is no way to close. It's very frustrating. I can still take and make calls but have difficulty even hanging up after a call!I took it to ATT and it is no longer under warranty. I may just take it in to a repair place

I can't end a call and disconnect! or call a number on the screen without using the touch screen and enter button on the QWERTY key pad.Now my wifes phone (whose usage is SUPER LOW) is having the same problem....I tried to reload the latest software package, but it made NO difference.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had a torch since October 2010 and just in the last 2 days it has stopped responding when using the keyboard or buttons.
When I pull the battery and reboot, I can use the touch screen to unlock, and then can go in to any item. Example: open text, can scroll and find a test to view, tap it and open. I can then reply, forward delete with the screen options but once that is done I am now stuck in the text message. My only option is to pull the battery.
I can not make phone calls but can answer by sliding up the screen. When call is done I can not end just have to wait for other person to hang up.
I have checked for Water damage and there is none, the phone has not had a hard drop and the to sides are very solid (not loose).
I have purchased Blackberry 9800 torch few months back. I paid around Rs.33,600 / - for the handset. From the time i bought i had problems with thehandset. It was keep getting stuck. I had given it to service center inbangalore. They did some resetting. But again it continued. Its keep gettingstuck and i have to remove the battery and refix the battery again. By keepdoing this, my back pannel has become loose. Now my handset speaker is notworking. My ring tone is not working. I gave it to the service center andthey said its speaker has spoiled. They made me wait for hours. They are asking for the handset for8 to 10 days for the repair. They asked me to take the back up of my files.Now im trying to download the desktop software to take the handset back up.But desktop software is not getting downloaded. I have tried with threecomputers. But it is not getting downlaoded with any of these computers. iam sick and tiered of it. Therez no online support or some custome care tosupport me. I dont have the stand by hand set for 10 days. Im not able totake the back ups. I have somany important data's in my handset. I amwasting my time trying to download the desktop softwareI dont want this phone. Kindly give my money back. i paid Rs.33,600 / - forthe blackberry 9800 torch. i dont want it to get it repaired. Attached image shows that when I make a call or receive it, my screen does not show dialer buttons, mute button, or the additional caller/conference button. I have looked at all different settings that I could think of but can't seem to fix this. I have tried this using headset as well as speaker phone.
I was able to bring up dialer button (only) if I go to home screen during the call and open up phone again. This time I can use the dialer buttons but still no mute or conf buttons.
Any obscure setting that I may have tripped that would kill these two at the same time all of the sudden? I'm at a loss other than the fact the sucker got wet about 10 days ago. I did the proper wet phone recovery procedure and even had it apart same day to make sure it wasn't moist in there. Worked fine till about an hour ago.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just noticed this today that when I'm playing a song on my phone, the volume buttons act as the media player as well switching to the next song. I would often try to increase or decrease the volume, and I realize I can't. I tried a battery pull hoping that would solve the issue. It's frustrating how a person can't hear music at all, and having no use of the volume buttons. I am still under my 30 day warranty, I'm considering taking it back and exchanging for a new one.

As an avid business crackberry fan (and business manager) for over 3 years, I was appalled to find that I would need to slide the keyboard out to enter my security code, especially when I would do it 50-100 times per day. As every other touchscreen phone on the market has a pattern unlock method, this is the single issue preventing from purchasing this phone(s) PLEASE ISSUE AN UPDATE/APP/PATCH anything to bring this vital security & efficiency issue up to par.
