BB Torch :: Four Main Buttons On The 9800 Don't Work?
Sep 2, 2011
i hadn't been on my phone for about 2 days and when i went on it the four main buttons (green call button,bb button, and the end call/turn on/off button) they weren't working. i can seem to figure out whats wrong, /:
The touch screen works, but none of the buttons work. I have restarted, I have removed the battery numerous times, but nothing. It was working this morning. No water damage, no drop damage, just stopped working. I am limited in what I can do and almost every time I want to close an application, i need to remove the battery because there is no way to close. It's very frustrating. I can still take and make calls but have difficulty even hanging up after a call!I took it to ATT and it is no longer under warranty. I may just take it in to a repair place
Last night, suddenly my keyboard, trackpad and all my external buttons no longer work. Only my touch screen works, but no back button, a BlackBerry is not very useful. It may be software, but I updated yesterday the operating system. But I find it strange that all the external buttons do not work together. What could be the problem. If I have to go to the workshop, I want to know as much as possible.BlackBerry 9800
I am looking for a thread or would like to create one that will instruct a newbie on how to clean up (or hide) those apps I don't want or use, on the main screen. Also would like to know recommendations as to best apps to have, that don't suck memory. (Maybe an app to free up wasted space?)
I updated my software last week and now my call and end call buttons rarely work, and the menu and return buttons on occassion stop working. I can't end a call and disconnect! or call a number on the screen without using the touch screen and enter button on the QWERTY key pad.Now my wifes phone (whose usage is SUPER LOW) is having the same problem....I tried to reload the latest software package, but it made NO difference.
I have had a torch since October 2010 and just in the last 2 days it has stopped responding when using the keyboard or buttons.
When I pull the battery and reboot, I can use the touch screen to unlock, and then can go in to any item. Example: open text, can scroll and find a test to view, tap it and open. I can then reply, forward delete with the screen options but once that is done I am now stuck in the text message. My only option is to pull the battery.
I can not make phone calls but can answer by sliding up the screen. When call is done I can not end just have to wait for other person to hang up.
I have checked for Water damage and there is none, the phone has not had a hard drop and the to sides are very solid (not loose).
I have been having problems with stopping the accidental hit of the onscreen mute or speaker buttons when I am using the phone. I noticed that if my face is too far away from the phone or I switch ears this can happen. Is there any way to lock the screen while I'm on the phone?
The main buttons under the touch screen and on left and right of track pad dont work how do I fix this with out sending it in or buying a complete new phone?
This is the second torch I've gotten with button problems. I've been a customer of blackberry and Telus for the past ten years.Blackberry, or Telus doesn't seem to give a care about the substandard quality of their product or their customers.I had a Storm and traded it in due to the buttons simply not working. Bought a Torch and six months later the buttons failed. Sent it in for warrantee and Telus blamed me for a problem I didn't even have to avoid the warantee until I complained so much they reoplaced it a few months back. Now this piece of **bleep** is giving me the same heartache.Called for support and they said to send it in for warrantee work. I'm a realtor and can't anmswer my phone half the time. I can't use the back button or the menu buttons. I get charged every time I send the phone back for an evaluation even though it's not my problem and its under warrantee.
I just got the BB Torch 9800. It's my first touchscreen phone, so I'm sorry if this has been discussed before. While I'm on a phone call, the following buttons automatically appear on the touchscreen: Mute, Hold, Speaker Phone, and Add Recipient. I have yet to complete a phone conversation without hitting one of these buttons with my cheek. I cannot for the life of me find a way in Options to stop these buttons from appearing during phone calls.I am actually considering returning the phone over this.
I am the owner of a Blackberry Torch, and all of a sudden today my keyboard and buttons ( back, red, green, and the blackberry button) won't work! The only way for me to do things on my Blackberry is if I pull the battery, put it back in, wait for it to load, then enter my password ( using the on screen keyboard) then click one app. And once I am done with that one app, I click my red button, and nothing happens same if I click the back button!
my blackberry has just decided that non of the key pad or buttons are going to work but touch still works if i restore it back to factory settings will this sort the problem out also how do i get the phone back to factory settings?
the menu key and back keys both stopped working today. my phone was working just fine last night and when i woke up today i found these issues. my software is up to date.battery pulls don't do anything to fix the problem.especially since whenever i open a program i can't go back and close it and end up having everything running and have to do a battery pull
I just noticed this today that when I'm playing a song on my phone, the volume buttons act as the media player as well switching to the next song. I would often try to increase or decrease the volume, and I realize I can't. I tried a battery pull hoping that would solve the issue. It's frustrating how a person can't hear music at all, and having no use of the volume buttons. I am still under my 30 day warranty, I'm considering taking it back and exchanging for a new one.
i am from Singapore and i can't seems to find any blackberry service centre here. i have only bought the Torch for less than 6 months and all of the keys won't work for my Torch. only the touch screen is functionable. where can i send my Torch for servicing? there should be a warranty, right?
trying to activate my work email to my blackberry torch 9800. the phone is contacting the server but never connects. keeps asking me to continue the activation or cancel the activation.
I have got a Blackberry Torch 9800 and the screen just wont work. It used to, but then it got worse and worse, and now the screen just wont work, the rest of the phone works but you cant see anything. When the screen did work if I slide up the screen then it would go all weird. When I press the unlock button, the lights come on like it works, but the screen wont?
yesterday, after one month of usage, my 9800 display this error message:
phone not allowed - MM6
so, after some battery pull, decided to re-install the original SO. now i can see the name of my carrier and the full power of signal but i'm not able to make/receive phone call or text messages because it says: no service available.
i looked for any number to contact but i didn't find anything.
i've bought this 9800 to replace my iphone but i think i'll keep my iphone: with apple a problem like this will be solved calling the support center and receiving a new phone, with the blackberry.. it's better not to know! (one frriend of mine sent the bb to the support and it come back after 2 month still not working) any number to contact? or any person who wnat to buy my torch?
I have a problem with my blackberry torch 9800; the touch screen does not work!, I have tried to re-install the OS using blackberry desktop and re-set the phone by pulling the battery out and put it again but still they don't work!.
I have a blackberry torch 9800 and the menu key & back key doesn't work when i slide my phone up. It only works whenever I use the full touch option, it used to work before but it just suddenly stopped.
I have a 9800 black berry device that I bought from Saudi Arabia. This device doesn't work any more and without any previous problems with it. So, I want to know from where I can fix my phone and how much that will cost me? By the way, I am a student in Waterloo city, so I assume that it will be much easier to solve my problem soon.
I have just sync my new torch from my old bold. All info transfered perfectly including my 2 email accounts.
I have the misfortune of living in a 2G only area on remote Island. SMS, phone calls and wifi only. I had my old Bold working through wifi hot spots onto my gmail account and it was sending and receiving emails just fine but the torch just keeps saying 'activation failed. A service connection is unavailable' each time I try to activate the account.
Seems as though it wont work through wifi, i can surf the net with no problems
