BB Torch :: 9800 Screen Just Won't Work - Lights Come On
Jun 6, 2012
I have got a Blackberry Torch 9800 and the screen just wont work. It used to, but then it got worse and worse, and now the screen just wont work, the rest of the phone works but you cant see anything. When the screen did work if I slide up the screen then it would go all weird. When I press the unlock button, the lights come on like it works, but the screen wont?
I have a problem with my blackberry torch 9800; the touch screen does not work!, I have tried to re-install the OS using blackberry desktop and re-set the phone by pulling the battery out and put it again but still they don't work!.
The touch screen works, but none of the buttons work. I have restarted, I have removed the battery numerous times, but nothing. It was working this morning. No water damage, no drop damage, just stopped working. I am limited in what I can do and almost every time I want to close an application, i need to remove the battery because there is no way to close. It's very frustrating. I can still take and make calls but have difficulty even hanging up after a call!I took it to ATT and it is no longer under warranty. I may just take it in to a repair place
i am from Singapore and i can't seems to find any blackberry service centre here. i have only bought the Torch for less than 6 months and all of the keys won't work for my Torch. only the touch screen is functionable. where can i send my Torch for servicing? there should be a warranty, right?
trying to activate my work email to my blackberry torch 9800. the phone is contacting the server but never connects. keeps asking me to continue the activation or cancel the activation.
i hadn't been on my phone for about 2 days and when i went on it the four main buttons (green call button,bb button, and the end call/turn on/off button) they weren't working. i can seem to figure out whats wrong, /:
yesterday, after one month of usage, my 9800 display this error message:
phone not allowed - MM6
so, after some battery pull, decided to re-install the original SO. now i can see the name of my carrier and the full power of signal but i'm not able to make/receive phone call or text messages because it says: no service available.
i looked for any number to contact but i didn't find anything.
i've bought this 9800 to replace my iphone but i think i'll keep my iphone: with apple a problem like this will be solved calling the support center and receiving a new phone, with the blackberry.. it's better not to know! (one frriend of mine sent the bb to the support and it come back after 2 month still not working) any number to contact? or any person who wnat to buy my torch?
I have a blackberry torch 9800 and the menu key & back key doesn't work when i slide my phone up. It only works whenever I use the full touch option, it used to work before but it just suddenly stopped.
I have a 9800 black berry device that I bought from Saudi Arabia. This device doesn't work any more and without any previous problems with it. So, I want to know from where I can fix my phone and how much that will cost me? By the way, I am a student in Waterloo city, so I assume that it will be much easier to solve my problem soon.
I have just sync my new torch from my old bold. All info transfered perfectly including my 2 email accounts.
I have the misfortune of living in a 2G only area on remote Island. SMS, phone calls and wifi only. I had my old Bold working through wifi hot spots onto my gmail account and it was sending and receiving emails just fine but the torch just keeps saying 'activation failed. A service connection is unavailable' each time I try to activate the account.
Seems as though it wont work through wifi, i can surf the net with no problems
I have a 9800 torch 4 gb black , i got it from a friend with a smashed screen and digitizer , i changed both of them but the keyboard doesnt work , i changed to a new keyboard and still the same problem , all the other buttons work but the physical keyboard , it lights up when i turn the blackberry on .i made a hard reset , changed the os but still same probem .
Welp got the torch and love it, was using a captivate and an aria for about 3 weeks, neat toys but sucked as phones so back to bb I went.My convience key will let me program it for any other function other than the camera, it will work the first time after resetting it to the camera option, but won't work the shutter. After closing it out and pressing the button again from the home screen or any other I get nothing?
I have just ordered my very frist ever blackberry anyway it is the new torch and it is unlocked and i have been assured that it will work fine with my (3 Australia network) and i manged to get 24 month australian warranty and i have changed my plan over already to ensure i get my bis + 1g(so it should be sweet). So hear is my QuestionsWhat problems can i expect with trying to get the phone to work and function properly? How do i get my bis account working? should i try and get the info i need of 3 now (to speed thing up on the day i get the phone) or do i need the torch in my hand?what else can i do now to make it easy on the day to get it going?
I'm having a problem with my home wireless network and my Blackberry Torch. My phone is able to locate and connect to my home wireless network, but when I attempt to browse the internet, I get the following message: "Unable to connect to the internet, please try again later. If the problem persists please contact your service provider My internet and wireless network are working fine. I connected my desktop computer to the wireless network and browsed the internet without issue, my wife's phone (iPhone4) works without problem on the wifi network, and I checked with my internet service provider- they see no problems as well.On a hunch, I drove down to a local Starbucks to find a wifi hotspot. I found one, connected to it, and browsed the internet without any error messages. So now it appears that when I connect to a free wifi hotspot everything's fine but with my home network I get the error message above. The only thing I changed was the network.
I've been getting an incredible amount of spam recently. So I've tried setting up filters on my BB Torch 9800. If I set up only two or three filters, it seems to work fine. But if I set up more than that, the BB just stops receiving all emails, not just the filtered ones. I've checked to see that I've clicked the right options. I'm not, apparently. So what's the trick to setting up lots of filters to kill of this wretched spam? In Outlook, of course, it's easy -- I can set up rules to stop the **bleep** reaching my in-box -- and I was hoping it was going to be similarly easy to do on the BB. But it isn'.
Last night, suddenly my keyboard, trackpad and all my external buttons no longer work. Only my touch screen works, but no back button, a BlackBerry is not very useful. It may be software, but I updated yesterday the operating system. But I find it strange that all the external buttons do not work together. What could be the problem. If I have to go to the workshop, I want to know as much as possible.BlackBerry 9800
I am a blackberry developer working on a recording software. Just did an OS upgrade on my 9800 when I saw an upgrade alert on BlackBerry Desktop Software. The OS after upgrade is 6.0 bundle 2342 (v6.0.0.526 platform 6.6.0.195)Now when I run my application to do the voice record (WAV format, not AMR ), I keep getting an error "Requested bitrate is not supported", I tried different bitrate (8000,16000, 44100, 48000....), none of them supported.I used to use bitrate=8000 for recording and it worked, but now it throw above exception.I even change encoding bit from 16 to 8bit, channel from 1 to 2, didn't work.
I am looking for a thread or would like to create one that will instruct a newbie on how to clean up (or hide) those apps I don't want or use, on the main screen. Also would like to know recommendations as to best apps to have, that don't suck memory. (Maybe an app to free up wasted space?)
On my Blackberry Toch 9800, it seems to freeze up on several occassions, most recently when downloading an application from "App World."After downloading an application from App World, when you run the application for the first time, it will ask you if you want to "share personal information." Whether it is checked or unchecked, the screen just freezes up after clicking "OK."
Is there a fix for this? This is a brand new device and I am already experiencing several screen lock up issues. I have already done a hard / soft reset, as well as a battery pull. I have also uninstalled the application and re-installed it, only to have this issue continue.
Just recently noticed that my phone screen will flicker and a small red light will flicker (very dim) to the right of the LED when I am on the active call screen. It is most notable when I am making an outgoing call, when the phone status is reading "calling." The screen seems to flicker and the dim light flashes to the right of the LED,
So we've mentioned screen protectors a lot so far, and unfortunately this is another thread about them (DON"T STOP READING THERE). Since i bought the invisibleShield, and absolutely love it. I was hoping the awesome CrackBerry community might make it better. Since it's a large screen protector that you have to cut up yourself, i was hoping someone had something i can trace and cut along a line, to better fit my screen. So does anyone have anything that we can trace to easier cut out screen protectors?
Last night, I realized that the keyboard lights and the two light between the home botton do not light up. (I am sure they were working when i first got it)I did is to update it for 4.0.2.a.0.42 to 4.0.2.a.0.58, but i am not sure did the lights when out because of the update.
As an avid business crackberry fan (and business manager) for over 3 years, I was appalled to find that I would need to slide the keyboard out to enter my security code, especially when I would do it 50-100 times per day. As every other touchscreen phone on the market has a pattern unlock method, this is the single issue preventing from purchasing this phone(s) PLEASE ISSUE AN UPDATE/APP/PATCH anything to bring this vital security & efficiency issue up to par.
my BB Torch 9800 screen started short circuiting, splitting in half, and everything going backwards when I slid the phone open. So I started using it with it slid closed and just texting on the screen and it worked great until the other day when the screen would no longer come on, even when it was closed. I know the phone still works because the red light was flashing because I got a message but I couldn't get the screen to come back on because I'm guessing it has short circuited enough that it gave out. So my question is, I got a cheap phone onto my contract now, but I don't have any contacts: how can I get my contacts from my BB where I can't see the screen onto this other phone? I have my SIM card in the other phone but no contacts are on it.
Is there a way to reset my phone? I lost my screen for my torch 9800. I can still recieve phone calls and dial out by memory. No touch screen or picture at all!
