Dec 26, 2011When i take my battery out and put it back in the phone starts rebooting and then quits and a picture of a battery with an X through it appears on the screen???

Nov 12, 2012I tried to update the Blackberry Apps store as notified on phone.Now phone is stuck in a reboot loop.I have tried pulling battery and connecting to computer, pulling SD card and sim.

Jul 9, 2012I have tried soft reboot, double soft reboot, hard reboot (removal and replacement of battery for 10sec to 1hr). Due to the reboot can not connect to computer to assist. Removed the sim and memory card and attempted to reboot with no success.ttempt to reboot in safe-mode failed also. I can not shut down except to remove battery. I have tried being connected to the computer without the battery and then replacing the battery that did not work either. like this model it has all the features I need, I need to have it functional ASAP or I will will have to change the phone and the service provider. My company is not tolerant of companies that do not support their productsand provide service solutions in a timely manner.This problem started sometime around 7-3-2012 (this doesn't have anything to do with the 5000 Blackberry layoffs recently, does it?)

Apr 22, 2012I recently downloaded the new BBM app, and the icon disappeared from my phone.I tried rebooting several times, and it finally appeared, but it wasn't called BBM, rather net_rim_something.When I clicked on it, it said "missing resource files" and wouldn't load.I also noticed that my BBM connected apps (Facebook, etc) were not loading properly.So I backed up my BBM contacts, and deleted and re-installed, but there was no icon again.I checked this forum, and found a similar problem, and the solution was to check if the software needed updating, which would fix the problem.I checked on my Torch, and it said there was an update available, so I downloaded it. It downloaded fine, and then asked if I wanted to install it, and gave a warning message that it might take 2 hours or more.This was fine with me, as I was going to bed soon, and wouldn't be using it.Before I went to bed, I noticed that it was rebooting.I figured I would just leave it and go to bed.When I got up this morning, I noticed it was still rebooting.The white bar would go all the way across, then it would go to a white screen, go black again, and then start over.I checked the forums again, and found a similar issue, which said to pull the battery and replace it. Did so, and it didn't work.I have tried several times, and even left the battery out for 2 hours, in the vain hope this might work.I tried connecting to BlackBerry Desktop to do a restore, but it can't connect to the phone, because it is stuck in reboot.

Jan 2, 2012My BB Torch 9800 is stuck in a reboot loop. I have tried reinstalling the OS using the AppLoader, tried simply hitting "Update" from my Desktop Manager, I have essentially tried everything I have found online about a "nuked or bricked BB". I have been working on this for days.The problem is that, because of the reboot loop, my phone will not stay connected to my computer long enough for anything to actually happen. I get the error message "Unable to maintain JVC connection" or something along the lines of "Your device is not connected, please reconnect, enter your password and continue".I have had this phone for a year and love it. I made an investment in a BB product and I expect it to last more than one year! If I need to take it in for service, so I simply return to the store where it was purchased?

The progress bar makes it around 60% or so then the screen goes dark and starts the reboot process all over again. Dec 15, 2011I was doing a regular update of the BB apps yesterday late evening, as per the notifications received by the App World. However, the phone shutdown suddenly, and it tried to reboot. It has since failed to boot up, and keeps on shutting down, while trying to reboot. The progress bar always reaches approx. 95%+, and then it starts again. I have already done Battery pull etc., and connected it with a charger - but so far no luck with it. Connected it to the laptop as well - but it does not recognize it either. I have a backup from a couple of weeks ago, so I am wondering, how I can reset the device and restore to an earlier backup? This is a month old Torch 9800 device.

The phone wil enter bedside mode and i get a message stating that the phone will not charge. I am able to charge the phone without the dock using the exact same cable. # Press the Menu key key > Options.
# Select the Image Stabilization check box.

I don't have IS under Options - only Digital Zoom, Picture Review, Image Size, Convenience Keys, Storage and Store Pictures.

Aug 5, 2010I have been keeping recommending iPhone 4 to my girlfriend, who is going to get her Master degree from Columbia Univ and step into business world. And she said, "wow, it looks wonderful but too naive/childish for me".
And then I bought her the iPod Touch, just for casual use. (I would make Torch a great surprise since she always wants a Blackberry. Samsung sucks btw, we have had 3 Samsung phones and they are all crap - hardware-wise).
I love iPhone, but I could not live without a keyboard phone. Sorry Droid and iPhone fanboys, touchscreen just sucks for business users/ users mainly do texing and little cell-photo-taking.
If you are not a college boy, and you are a real businessman, I bet you would be as busy as me so 40% of your time is for emails/texting/notepad/calendar, 30% for phone calls, 20% or less for web browsing, and 10% for enjoying music when driving (or on subways while reading newspapers) and other multimedia functions.
And seriously, I only use my phone to take pictures of notes on whiteboard or product labels when I don't have a camera at hand. And if you really like taking photos, DSLR would do you good.
Do you really need a 800x600 display for texting?phone calls?. And how much do you rely on web browsing by cell phone? It's just for checking some information when you are outside.
Let's see what Torch does best from all kinds of reviews: Gizmo, Engadget, BGR, Crackberry....
1). Top notch keyboard - good for 40% of time texting/emails/notepad/calendar
2). Great call quality - good for another 30% of time, and no drop calls/death grips
3). WebKit Browser - enough for 20% of time web browsing - after all we all own laptops (you don't have one?)
4). Improved media experience - I am ok with just listening to music. I seldom watch videos on handheld devices - only nerds do it often.
Hence, the bottom line: is there any other good keyboard phone out there? (with a touch screen and not as ugly/huge as Droid)?
=) CPU is fine, Screen resolution is fine (I am really ok with texting and managing my business life with Bold's screen resolution).
After all, do you really spend 80% of your time on cell phone while you have friends and can do all the things on a computer?

I really hope RIM can get its act together and win back users. Aug 10, 2010I went to the store yesterday to play with the torch. I like it a lot and will probably upgrade from my 9000. however, I dont like the lock (rather, the unlock) and the sales guy said he didn't know of an answer for me.
in short, you lock it by hitting the button on the top left. no worries. however, to unlock, you either open the slider or hit the lock button again. this is not a very "positive" way of unlocking, if you ask me. its quick and easy, but not a very good way to keep the phone locked in your pocket or whatever. I can easily see me bumping the unlock button when the phone's in my pocket and dialing or browsing or any number of functions from touch enable home screen. I dont think the slide is likely to open in a cargo pocket, but the button could definetely get pushed. for those of yall that have had one for a while, am I missing something? is there a way to "override" this and make it so it only unlocks when you manually do something?

Jun 14, 2011I just bought a 9800 and cannot talk on the phone without it going to speaker, mute, or adding a participant to the phone call. I have tried locking the phone while talking, but still run into the same problems. Is there a solution? Do I need to just hold the phone 5 inches away from my fat cheeks? I know this is silly, but it is really irritating.
