I am using the "All" menu on my torch as my main menu. I have it set up similarly to my old Bold 9700. I use that for everything except Media, where I do use the "Media" menu page. However, that left me with little use for the "Favorites" menu page. So I decided to delete everything there and load it up with my most often used contacts.
When you highlight a contact on the contact list, your Blackberry Key menu has an option "Add to Home Screen." That opens a window where you can choose a location and mark it as a favorite. If you leave the default location of "home" the contact will appear on both the home and favorites menu, which I did not want. Since I already had created a "Junk" folder, I simply move the contact to that folder and mark as a favorite at the same time. Now My "Favorites" menu is populated ONLY with many of my most used contacts. And when they appear on a menu page, you can tap/hold the contact icon to get several options such as call, pin, text, email, etc...
Noticed yesterday in my Favorites screen that many icons were no longer there. My browser for example. So I went to my "All" screen and highlighted my browser and pressed  and clicked "unmark as favorite". Then I clicked  again and chose "Mark as favorite". That put my browser back into my favorites list. But now its gone again today, along with all the others I had to unmark and then re-mark. Anyone else had this happen?
Every single time I reboot the Torch all my Favorites go missing. So I go to the apps that I have made Favorite and each one says "Unmark as Favorite". So they are all still Favorites but none will show up in the Favorites tab/folder/thing.It's very annoying. I thought maybe it was a bug in .141, so I upgraded to .161 and it STILL HAPPENS.
does anyone no how to transfer all my contact from my Tour which is cdma with no sim card to my new Torch with sim card. i cant do it using blackberry desktop software.
Took my sim card out of my 9000 and put it in the 9800 and the all my saved contacts don't show up. Do I need to do something special? Not sure how to get all my contacts back.I am also unable to send emails. When I replied to an email there is no send options when I press down on the blackberry key and the send icon on the screen is not highlighted.
I used to be able to sync all my contacts with my 9700 bold, but now since I received the torch, it is giving me an error saying I should look at the desktop manager information. with a # that says KB14545 error or whatever. What should I do to sync my contacts. p.s. Google sync sucks, it re-duplicated my contacts making me have 1400 contacts when I only have 170.
just got my new Blackberry Torch 9800.Don't know how i managed to do this but i just have my wife as a contact, when i try to phone my wife, i go to contacts my wifes number comes up, but when i try to ring her, the phone says Disconnected.
Trying to extracting or sync my contacts - but it won't let me.It says to turn off wireless synchronization by opening Address Book on your device and from the Options menu, selecting your address book and changing the Wireless Synchronization field to no.
I recently lost all my contacts , how? I dont know but ive managed to put them on from another sim but I wanted to transfer them to my usual sim in case I lose them again
I tried doing this using the SIM, but found that this only carreid over the first phone number and no extra numbers or email addresses. So then I exported from the LG to my desktop [using a USB connection] and then tried importing this file, but the 9800 didn't like it at all.
So then I swapped the SIM to the 9800 and used the Blackberry Desktop Manager to export an ascii file to my desktop computer. This gave me a file with """" a million quotation marks in it which made it way too hard to edit and add numbers etc to it. So I imported this to an XL file [using the header labels from the 9800] and edited my info. When I tried to import this to the Blackberry, it recognised the file OK, but wouldn't transfer the info across. So I then saved the XL file as a csv but this didn't work either.

I have about 1200 contacts in ACT! that I want to keep in my phone. I have tried to sync my phone with my computer a couple of times, the results from which have been very disappointing. I have tried syncing both through Outlook to the phone, and from a CSV file to the phone. Both methods result in significant amounts of information missing when the contacts are imported into my phone.
i have had a 9800 for about a year plus, its been fine but i seem to be losing some of my contacts. I have had cases where i try to retrieve a number but it wont come up,but once i get the number from another source and now use my 9800 to dial the number,it shows up on the display with the name its store
This is regarding my bb torch 9800. I just did an update directly from the bb website and NOT from a desktop icon. All I did was connect the phone and pressed "check for updates", from which the results said that there was an update available. It never once asked me to do a system backup...just told me that this could take up to an hour and that I'd be unable to use the phone. All my contacts are gone. This is my first bb so clearly i had no clue about doing a sync to my sim card. Is there any way that I can save all that lost contact info?
I have an old back up of my old phone 9800 which i lost. I got a new Torch 9810 and tried to restore the address book from my old backup. The Address Book- ALL has 2400 entries but it is Dimmed ( Not Highlighted and cannot be selected)and below it says Dimmed Entries are ready only and cannot be restored
Torch 9800 - Having problem with some of the phone contact duplicate by itself, not only 1 or couples, some contacts duplicate for more than hundreds even I'm not sync my phone. After I deleted the contacts, have only 1 left for the specific name, days after it will duplicate again.
how to transfer the outlook contacts to BB torch 9800? i ve tired it but its showing to disable the wifi sync option, but i am unable to find the option itself
How do I Know the amount of registered contacts in my BB Torch 9800? Seems that they are different from the registered in Outlook. As a matter of fact, I have not been able to match both of them.
When I got my 9800 I used DM to do the device switch from my 9000. Now all I have in my Contacts are emails addresses. No phone numbers, none!, some contacts without emails addresses are just missing, and no home addresses. I thought all that info was on my sim card? I did do a back-up, but it says the file is an IPD and it won't open.
It was under the setup up folder on my new torch. I followed the on screen instructions to set it up on the phone then it said go to URL...website to use it. It then deleted that app icon from the setup menu.
My Blackberry Torch 9800 is synchronised with Outlook on my work computer but I want to create a second copy of my contacts on my home computer. How can this be done?
I lost my bb 9800, i think i have data somewhere on bb server because when i login on BB protect website i can see that in archived back up details but i'm unable to restore it. And when i try to restore on my new 9810 it says "This data is already wirelessely synchronized with a remote service and cannot be restored by blackberry protect" only for contacts. And i've archived the device by mistake n now it shows "Remote admin commands are not available on archived devices".
where exactly is the adress book/all contacts stored by default in the 9800, i.e; in the mobile phone memory, in the SIM card (I don't think so) or in the micro SD card (media card)?
As an avid business crackberry fan (and business manager) for over 3 years, I was appalled to find that I would need to slide the keyboard out to enter my security code, especially when I would do it 50-100 times per day. As every other touchscreen phone on the market has a pattern unlock method, this is the single issue preventing from purchasing this phone(s) PLEASE ISSUE AN UPDATE/APP/PATCH anything to bring this vital security & efficiency issue up to par.
I get this problem and cant sync my contacts from Mac.I am sorry i spent so much money. I got the same problem with the 9000 bold and was teh reason i let go. Now I have the same problem.
I was able to Sync my contacts on my new Torch 9800 from MS Outlook but then experienced several "pocket calls" even with the Phone Lock feature ON. So I activated the 4 digit security code feature that requires entry before making any outgoing calls to resolve the "pocket call" issue, but now when I try to synch my contacts it asks for my 4 digit security code. I have 10 attempts to get it right but it doesn't recognize the security code on my PC. I am linking via the USB cable directly to my phone. Anyone know how to resolve this?
