BB Torch 9800 :: Favorites Disapearing After Restart
Aug 20, 2010
Every single time I reboot the Torch all my Favorites go missing. So I go to the apps that I have made Favorite and each one says "Unmark as Favorite". So they are all still Favorites but none will show up in the Favorites tab/folder/thing.It's very annoying. I thought maybe it was a bug in .141, so I upgraded to .161 and it STILL HAPPENS.

I am using the "All" menu on my torch as my main menu. I have it set up similarly to my old Bold 9700. I use that for everything except Media, where I do use the "Media" menu page. However, that left me with little use for the "Favorites" menu page. So I decided to delete everything there and load it up with my most often used contacts.
When you highlight a contact on the contact list, your Blackberry Key menu has an option "Add to Home Screen." That opens a window where you can choose a location and mark it as a favorite. If you leave the default location of "home" the contact will appear on both the home and favorites menu, which I did not want. Since I already had created a "Junk" folder, I simply move the contact to that folder and mark as a favorite at the same time. Now My "Favorites" menu is populated ONLY with many of my most used contacts. And when they appear on a menu page, you can tap/hold the contact icon to get several options such as call, pin, text, email, etc...

Noticed yesterday in my Favorites screen that many icons were no longer there. My browser for example. So I went to my "All" screen and highlighted my browser and pressed  and clicked "unmark as favorite". Then I clicked  again and chose "Mark as favorite". That put my browser back into my favorites list. But now its gone again today, along with all the others I had to unmark and then re-mark. Anyone else had this happen?

I have a Torch 9800, it said I needed to update my blackberry id. When I did this my phone started to freeze and won't restart. If I pull the battery and leave it for a few hours it would eventually restart and work for a day or two. I did a wipe and re-install and still having problems. Now I can't access app world or emails and some of my settings. Yesterday it froze and still hasn't restarted.

I bought this Torch almost 2 years ago (first model)... Since 2010, there is no critical problem occurred till now, but today my Torch can't be use of these problem. Let me explain the details.
1. I installed Munched (screen capture program), after installed i launced this apps and my bb automatically restarted.
2. Then, after restarted, the bb can be used as usuall and i didnt launch screen muncher apps after (Case 1).
3. Last night, my bb runs properly and there is no problem at all...
4. This Morning, i think to remove the apps (muncher) because i didnt use anymore. Then, i deleted this application using normal procedures. And, as we known, bb must be restart after uninstalling any apps, then i restart.
5. During restarting (loading bar) is stopped at 3/4 bar load.... So, i remove the battery to restart again...
6. After restart, my bb seems ok till it loads menus and other. But it was only for 15 seconds. After 15 seconds, a icon (loading star * like sunflower) appeared.
7. My bb stuck and i can''t use any button / touch screen function. My screen display also won't shut off their light.
8. I've tried to restart almost 6 time (remove battery), but it still same.I can use the menu for 15secs, then it becomes unresponsive.

As an avid business crackberry fan (and business manager) for over 3 years, I was appalled to find that I would need to slide the keyboard out to enter my security code, especially when I would do it 50-100 times per day. As every other touchscreen phone on the market has a pattern unlock method, this is the single issue preventing from purchasing this phone(s) PLEASE ISSUE AN UPDATE/APP/PATCH anything to bring this vital security & efficiency issue up to par.

Brand: Motorola-Model: Atrix4G - MB860
Andriod: 2.3.4 - System Version: 45.31.2.MB860.T.Mobile.en.GB
Upgraded to Gingerbread on: Six/Months ago
Problem Discription: After reset of phone (soft i assume , via privacy > reset) The status bar (blue, top bar) came fine but disapeared after a minute (default/built-in launcher).
a) Did a reset again to see if it works - but no
b) Researched over internet & some genious mentioned its due to email.......Deleted btconnect email from motoblur, restarted. - it worked
c) Added an email acoount today again via Motoblur accounts>add account....account added fine bt status bar disappeared.
d) Installed go launcher EX & installed their email widget - noticed no disappearnce of bar but that widget seems not updating auto email/auto sync
All was working fine till two days ago before reset of phone. Not seems related to upgrade as it was done more than six months ago & there was no such issue. (this is the fisrt phone reset done on gingerbread though)

I have a Nokia 5230 (RM-588) with firmware 20.0.005 and Ovi Maps 3.04. Memory card is Kingston 8GB. I downloaded maps that I needed and everything is working OK from that point.
Here is the problem: I search for an address (offline), Ovi Maps finds it, I rename it and save it to Favourites. I repeat that with some other addresses. Then I turn off the Ovi Maps and navigation and after I start it again, my folder Favourites - Places is empty. Any idea why the Favourites are not saved ?

After an issue with my N97 where I was unable to do any backups from the phone to the internal memory card, I reformatted and reinstalled the apps to my N97 (making sure I did a backup using PC Suite before hand).
Upon restoring the PC Suite image, I found that it didn't restore the list of favourites which have meant that I've lost them all - I'm sure I remember that the backup to memory card did make a copy of them, but as I wasn't able to do this, this wasn't a possible solution .....
Luckily, Google Maps have most of my starred items (favourites) saved, (barring the one I managed to unstar by accident), but it appears as if Google doesn't store the actual co-ordinates and doesn't allow them to be exported ... So in short - is there anyway at all I can get my favourites back ?

I have made my text message icon a favourite and created two separate email accounts, each with their own icons, and also made them my favourites and have reordered all three of these icons on the Favourites screen. Every so often (no logical reason) they completely disappear from the Favourites screen and I have to copy them all over again.

My Torch 9800 is on the Bell Mobility network in Canada. OS Version: 6.0.0.246, Bundle 695, Platform 6.4.0.105I'm on my 6th day now, and aside from all the gripes that everyone is saying, like poor screen resolution, or CPU is too slow, I say to you: stop your bitching! The phone is what it is and if you don't like it, don't get it! I think the phone works quite well. Your bitching is like people who would rather complain about what's on TV than change the channel. On to my little problem...About 7 times now my Text Messages icon has vanished from my Favorites menu. Each time this happens, I re-favorite it. There doesn't seem to be any ryme or reason for this to happen. I've tried the battery pull a few times. I've done the power down/back up. But the Text Messages icon is the only icon that vanishes from Favorites.

I have already installed the new Desktop Manager 6.0 that I downloaded from the RIM site.
I am thinking the safest way to not have a problem is the just restore my 9800 data from a back up rather than do the Switch Device thing. Anyone worried it might bring erroneous crap into the new 6.0 OS.
Maybe it would be better to redo my settings after the data install to make sure all is clean and working correctly. Some of the 5.0 setting would not be applicable to the new 6.0 software.

I bought the same BB 9860.when I got it before three weeks, it was working fine till the 3rd day of using it. After that, it started to crash and crash over and over with doing automatic restart. I took it to the warranty company which is Axiom in the UAE, well they format it and the same problem still there. Then I returned back to them, so they finally replaced it with NEW one with new PIN code, but guess what... The same problem happened AGAIN !! just by today, it crashed six times !! and yesterday it freeze up completely, so I had to pull out the battery.
Some of my friends told me that the memory card (4GB) might bethe problem, so I bought new one with 8 GB space but still suffering.
This is an evidence that the software itself is NOT WORKING as it should be.What kind of mobile phone that will fail you down more than five times in a day ?It's expensive, It's new, I paid money for it, so why I can't get benefit of my spending?

One morning my torch 9860 didnt start and ended up in an infinite restart loop, the LED turns red for 6 seconds then is goes out, and then again red LED then goes out. Screen is always black. I've tried with JL_cmder and BBSAK but it wont recognize the device. I tried to catch it with AppLoader, and I can do the UNKNOWN PIN thing, but then when the JVM is starting to initialize again it will go into an infinite loop again.

I'm not sure how to connect my school email to my blackberry Torch. My school e-mail is weird because when I go inside everything looks exactly like gmail but it isn't exactly gmail beacuse you can't sign on from www.gmail.com. Gotta go through the school website. It does provide instructions on how to link to the Blackberry but it doens't work for the Torch because the option doesn't exist.
(Instructions)To set up the BlackBerry's email client with Google Apps email (IMAP), just follow these steps:
On your BlackBerry device, navigate to your home screenSelect the icon that lets you set up email (this can be called Setup, Setup Wizard, Email Setup, BlackBerry Set-up, E-mail settings, or Personal Email Set-up)Follow the setup instructions provided on your device to create a new e-mail accountBe sure to enter the following:Mail Server: imap.gmail.comUsername: [your full Google Apps email address]Password: [your Google Apps password]IMAP Port: 993Allow the system to add your account, but do not enter your Google Apps password into the utility boxes (this causes the system to default to POP3 instead of IMAP)Select NextSelect Next again (bypassing the 'Additional Information Required' section)Select your account type, then select Next. You may encounter a 'We were unable to configure...' error. Select I will provide the settings to continueSelect the option that mentions 'IMAP/POP'Select I will provide the settings..., then select NextSelect Set up existing email account...Enter your Google Apps account information here, with 'imap.gmail.com' as your mail serverSelect NextSelect Save
