BB Storm 9530/9500 :: Changing Letter Chosed When Typing SMS
Mar 22, 2010How can I make my Storm use the letter I instead of U when typing an SMS? I use the SureType setup and everytime I wasnt to put 'I' it automatically puts in 'U'.
If I dont' notice it, it can lead to some pretty confusing messages!
Can I stop this? God knows why it does it. I hate text speak so have no need for just the lonely random letter U!
BB Tour :: SMS Messages Are Getting Scrambled?
Jun 24, 2010I have a Verizon Tour 9630. I'm having problems with my SMS messages. Most of them are going through fine, but a few are either not delivered (although it says on my end it has been delivered) OR they're getting scrambled. For example, I'll write something and when I see the message on my recipients phone, it's coming through with half my message and then gibberish. I compare it to my original sent message and it's completely different. It's almost as if my message has been intercepted/crossed with someone elses message.

Apr 6, 2012Up until the day before yesterday (with no iOS updates in the interim), I was able to use my iPhone 3GS (iOS 5.1) as a mobile security key with my PayPal account - when I want to log in to my Paypal account or make a payment, a confirmation code is sent by SMS to my phone. This has all been working nicely and adds a layer of security to the use of my Paypal account. Until this morning when I went to make a payment and the SMS arrived but was totally scrambled. Instead of the usual "Your 6-digit code is....." message, it's all wacky characters like upside-down triangles, and characters from other languages like Greek and Russian. Tried turning phone off and on again and re-adding to Paypal account but problem persists. Googling indicates that this may be a problem with iPhone interpreting SMS rather than Paypal sending rubbish, however I can't find anything more recent than 2009 on this problem.

Google Nexus 5 :: Why Is Screen Scrambled
Jul 19, 2014recently started to get this on my N5, won't turn 'on' just displays a scrambled screen for a short time, won't start up at all. Weirdly gets somewhere to allow the notification light to show, but can't call the phone.
Tried the holding vol up / down for periods of time. Any other way to factory reset in the hope its not a screen issue?

The first letters of the contacts are displaced from the letter designations of the list. A, B, C etc.
I lost at least one contact.
Duplicates of the same contact now started showing up. When I deleted one, they both deleted.

Dec 16, 2011Droid RAZR - bought in November from Verizon store. Screen protectors and case are used; phone has experienced no trauma. While in Gmail today, the screen pixellated, became unresponsive, and now is inoperable. The screen appears as a mostly uniform field of slowly shifting color (pink, green) with a perhaps .75 inch bar of white on the bottom; see attached picture (it was hard to get a good shot because of the lighting). The phone still "works" internally - if you call it, it rings; the screen sleeps after an appropriate time and you can push the power button to bring it back; I hear the chime of emails and texts coming in. However, none of the menu/home/back buttons work, and touching the screen apparently does nothing. When I push the power button to "wake" the phone, the previously described white bar appears instantly, and the fuzzy colored remainder of the screen "develops" over about ten seconds.
I forced a reboot via the power button/volume trick, and heard the reboot process - but the same screen issue stayed throughout the reboot.I am at about 15% power; perhaps a complete shutdown forced by loss of battery power will eventually help. Plugging it in to a charger did not help.

May 6, 2011On my torch when I type in letter i - it is not working correctly. You can see the letter, but it has no dot above the i and most importantly it can't search for other letter i's.

May 15, 2012when I pulled my 9900 out of my pocket, I saw that the letter P had fallen off of my keyboard and into my pocket. No idea how that happened, especially since my phone is in top shape. I called T-Mobile to see if my phone was under warranty (I bought it the first day it was available in California, which was on August 31st, 2011) and if there was anything that could be done. They directed me to call RIM about the issue. I called RIM this morning and was told by the representative that the warranty is at T-Mobile's discretion and that I'd basically have to hash this issue out with them. So I just got off of the phone with T-Mobile, again, and was told that the button falling off wasn't a "known issue with this device," therefore the warranty was void and my only option was to buy a new phone. This is terrible, a $600 phone and within less than a year my button falls off. The sad thing about it is, I also own the 9700 Curve and I had this same issue happen, except it took more than a year before the letter P fell off of that one.

Mar 4, 2012The letter key "L" will not work when pressed, and seems like there is some sort of delay with that letter. Sometimes when it is pressed, it does compute the letter but multiple time and with about a 5 second delay. Most of the time it won't work at all.Now, the trackpad also does not work right. It will scroll up ,down,left, and right at home screen, but will not do any of that in the BB menu or apps like Facebook. I can use it properly in the viewing of scent calls and viewing of recent texts. But once I open a text I cannot scroll again.There is a way around all that, if I hold down the alt key I can scroll again, but of course my letter al is not working.

Apr 25, 2012when I go to type certain letters on Swype (as in not actually "swiping," but just pressing single keys to enter an individual letter), the phone does not enter the letter, and it backs out of the keyboard app. Opening the keyboard back up to type then results in words failing to enter either through individual key presses, or through swiping. The word will show up on the word prediction bar, but will not enter, and the vibrate-on-keypress also fails. I then have to back out of the program that I was trying to type in, but every time I open it back up and try to key in a single letter, the same problem occurs.This problem comes about randomly, I have no idea what spurs the issue. Also, it seems to happen when I am trying to punch in a few specific keys ("K" especially, and also "D." May have noted the problem with 1 or 2 other keys, not sure).
