I have transferred the number from my old phone to my Blackberry Curve but the phone stills shows the original number. Is it possible to change it?, and if so how is it done?

Only had my Blackberry Curve 8520 for 1 week. I have changed the phone number from the one supplied to my previous number to avoid having to notify all my cotacts of a new number. When I go into the calls screen (the one brought up when you press the green phone button) On the "My Number" line it is still showing the supplied number not the one I have changed to. I went into the Virgin Media Store today but I was informed that it cannot be altered.

Even when I transferred numbers from my Envy to my Blackberry a lot of the contacts went under "Work" rather than "Mobil".How can I change it so that by default it comes up under mobile (since that's the majority of numbers I add to my contacts)?Also, is there a way to easily switch the classification of a number? Lately I've been just going into the contact and retyping it, but doing that for all of my contacts will be a pain.

I got the phone last Thursday, started futzing around with it on Friday, and set up the stock Sense 5 TV App. I put in my postal code (Canadian), picked my provider (Bell East) and set up my TV and surround receiver. Everything works manually by physically punching in the three digit number to change channels but the "auto channel selector" seems to zip along a little to fast for my receiver to recognize any more than a number or two.
For example channel 600 is HGTV and all I see is a "0" pop up after a second or two. What I'm looking for is an easy to use "wife friendly" app that has a Canadian guide that is push-button friendly and that I can input a delay into to actually be able to use the IR blaster as a remote...
So far I've tried the native TV App and Dijit. I don't mind paying for apps but my two minimum requirements are a guide feature and capability of delay..

when i add contact(s) to contacts bar and call them from there my x6 only shows contacts number. it's the same when they call me. only number, no name. is this normal or something is wrong. p.s. also, few times when i had called someone there was a picture assigned to contact all over the screen (full screen). this happens no more.?

Now, i am not able to make & receive any calls, everytime i try to call a number it shows an error message:- Congestion. Also, on top of my caller screen it shows a different number than mine.When i go to Advance system settings>SIM Card, it does shows my number BUT in Service Status it shows a different number. contacted one AT&T outlet and they say that it is a used phone not the new one because the number it shows belongs to the old user and the network my phone is showing is Edge which is not supportive in my Gophone scheme. I called up the number which is showing in my phone but the person says that he never owned or sold any phone.

I ported my number so the new carrier gave me a temp number. Now that I have my number working, iPhone is displaying the temp number in settings>phone, so even if iMessages and Facetime activates,I don't know why the message "your carrier may charge for the imessage activation..bla bla", so...iMessage and Facetime shows my correct number, but they deactivate themselves for some reason and activates again.Â
I don't know if it is because the wrong number is displaying in the settings, or I lose signal or what..but this is new so I think it's because of the wrong number in settings.Â
Some things to consider (things I've tried so far):
- Cant change number manually
- Tried the turn off iMessage and Facetime and then on and restartÂ
My carrier is going to charge for every activation message I send I guess... or is there another way to change the sim number in the iphone or mac? I dont have another phone to change the number in special numbers.Â
Pretty happy as I just got my Tour switching from an 8130 Pearl. Stupid question, but does anybody know how to change the "my number" in the phone menu. I just switched from Verizon over to Sprint to save some money and had my old number ported over. Everything is working fine, but the number still shows up as the temporary one sent to me in the phone menu.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm a brand new owner of a 9650 and I'm stumped on trying to change a setting. Currently my phone rings only once before it goes to voice mail. I have looked all over the device to find how to increase the number and can't find it anywhere. I have checked sound profiles and see no option to do so. The manual for the 9650 says it's an issue with my provider. My carrier, Verizon, has been no help. This was not an issue with my old phone and I assumed it would be the same during the transisition to the new one. No go.

Is there any way for me to label one like nextel or somehting and one personal cell and one work cell? Or have one contact for mr and mrs such and such with both cell numbers in the contact but label one his and the other hers? Am I making any sense here?

I know there have been similar issue like mine with other phones, i have looked through alot of threads and found no solution. ive also noticed that it seem to be an issue with only Verizon phones
That said here is the issue:
I bought a BB 9650 unlocked from Verizon, and i am using it in Canada with Fido, and when i get phone calls from people, it shows up as unknown number, but i realize i have these people numbers stored on my contact list super weird.
