first time I have had a Blackberry! My Blackberry Curve 8520 shows my mobile number as "unknown". I changed the mobile number that was originally given to me by Vodafone and when my phone arrived the sim was stuck on the outside of the package.How do I get my phone to show the number that is on my inserted sim card.

Today, for the last 4-5 hrs, I've been receiving numerous spam SMS msgs from 2 area codes in the Atlanta, GA area that are 3 different mobile numbers, and some of which are from the same repeating mobile number. Is there a way to block any spam text messages? I've just been deleting them, but didn't know if you can filter or block SMS msgs like you can with emails. I have a Blackberry Curve 8520 through AT&T

I bought a BB 9650 unlocked from Verizon, and i am using it in Canada with Fido, and when i get phone calls from people, it shows up as unknown number, but i realize i have these people numbers stored on my contact list super weird.
Have been searching forums for a couple weeks now and cannot find an answer. I have an icon on my screen that only shows up when I lock my keys it is a blue and white square and thats about all I can tell about it, since I can only see it when the keys are locked and the screen goes black very quickly when locked I cannot examine the Icon very well Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I have gone through all my messages and applications and cant seem to find anything. also when I first noticed the icon it had a 1 next to it and it is now up to 4 so I feel it is some kind of message, but i'm very confused as to why it will only show when the keys are locked.I look forward to see what everyone has to say about this as I have always been VERY pleased with the GREAT information I get from this site!

I have no idea what it is must have set one up in the shop or I perhaps did it when I first had the phone anyway I cat remember it and it is imperative that I do not lose the photos and contacts that I have must have had he phone for over a year. The phone is now asking for a password in letters -this is different to my usual 4 number access code.

I have put a new screen and keypad on it, but when I turn it on, it just turns on to a white screen, no matter what. After a bit of googling I found it referred to as a "white screen of death", and that I should install the latest Desktop Software and OS, which I have done. I have followed the instructions (take out the battery, connect USB to computer, etc) but then it asks for the Unlock Pin. I have entered the PIN off the side of the box, which it did not accept. I am wondering where else I might find the Unlock Pin? Also, is this the best way of getting rid of the white screen and getting the phone back to working order. I've got it all looking nice before I give it to the kid, now I just need it to work! The former owner said they did a system restore before they gave it to me, and i'm not worried about wiping out any/all existing information, as the phone is going to someone else

Even when I transferred numbers from my Envy to my Blackberry a lot of the contacts went under "Work" rather than "Mobil".How can I change it so that by default it comes up under mobile (since that's the majority of numbers I add to my contacts)?Also, is there a way to easily switch the classification of a number? Lately I've been just going into the contact and retyping it, but doing that for all of my contacts will be a pain.

I have to take out my battery and charge it without. Then when the sign of no battery shows I put it back in. When I reboot my bb without taking out the battery first it gets stuck in the process.
But the BB keeps on crashing, and the amount of crashes increase..

I cannot understand what the difference is. When I contact Virgin I can check the balance of my internet usage - this never changes. Unbeknown to me I was using blackberry usage which I could not check with my provider. I had the facebook application and the ubertwitter application on the phone. These are now removed.As I understand from Virgin using any applications on my phone will mean using the blackberry usage which will not be enough and therefore I will get charged. Blackberry is marketing these phones to my age group - early 20's and Virgin are advertising it with application use.

I try to manually connect to the network but it can't find any "Scan for networks failed". It also has my mobile network down as Vodafone UK for some reason.
