Jun 1, 2012People calling me have sometimes complained that if I am not available to take the call, they have to wait for many rings - and hence a long time - before the messaging system kicks in. And sometimes, callers give up, assuming I don't have voicemail. I know you can limit the number of rings on other phones, but I haven't find out how to do it with my iPhone. I'm sure it's easy though!!

Aug 13, 2010I'm a brand new owner of a 9650 and I'm stumped on trying to change a setting. Currently my phone rings only once before it goes to voice mail. I have looked all over the device to find how to increase the number and can't find it anywhere. I have checked sound profiles and see no option to do so. The manual for the 9650 says it's an issue with my provider. My carrier, Verizon, has been no help. This was not an issue with my old phone and I assumed it would be the same during the transisition to the new one. No go.

Nov 2, 2011Been a happy Sprint user since 2005 and have used various dumb phones and smartphones. The Photon is my 3rd Android.I have noticed that each phone , whether smartphone or not, has the same issue that has caused me to miss incoming phone calls here and there - the caller dials my number and hears several rings before my phone actually starts ringing. The phone goes to voicemail before I have the opportunity to answer the phone.The solution for my phones has always been to adjust the Slot Cycle index from the default setting of 2 to the setting of 0. This causes the phone to poll towers more frequently, thus the phone is more quickly aware of a new incoming call. The only negative implication is that the phone goes through battery a bit more quickly during the day...but it's really only a tiny difference. I've done this on my phones, on my spouse's phones, my mom's phone, etc.
Since the Photon's battery life is so much better than my prior phone (EVO 4G) I am very comfortable in adjusting the Slot Cycle index, so I obtained my MSL from Sprint and attempted the adjustment by going to the Dialer:##DATA# ->tap green Dial icon -> to the Data Settings menu...tap Advanced->From there you can see that the Slotted Index is set to 2. So I wanted to change the setting but can't get to it from Menu->Edit->enter MSL code->VerifyI called Sprint about this issue, and in the past they have helped me to change the setting. I have called more than once and have been dealing with the more advanced Tech Support team. No one at Sprint can figure out how to adjust this setting on the Photon.
Nokia Nseries :: N8 CPU Usage Goes To 100% Whenever Keylock Activated?
Feb 16, 2011As the heading states we have an N8 in the office (one of about 5) which exhibits a very strange symptom. After the first few days of having terrible battery life, even when doing very little with the phone, we tracked down the error to something which happens when keylock gets activated the first time after starting the phone. Using Nokia Energy profiler, we've found out that as soon as keylock is activated the CPU usage goes to 100% and never comes down afterwards, except when turning phone off and on again. Done factory resets (via phone meny, Restore and Delete data) and this problem shows up even when installing only the most basic apps - last time it appeared after installing swype, so now resetting and installing nothing.

Xperia X10 :: IMEI Number Not Activated?
Dec 28, 2010Yesterday I bought a brand new Xperia X10 mobile with android 2.1 packed on November 2010 at a SONY Gallery in chennai. After unboxing the mobile, and initial settings, I could not either make a call or receive a call. The showroom guys made a call to Sony support and said, I need to wait for two days as the IMEI numbers are not unlocked yet. I was terribly disappointed since I cannot use the mobile for another two days. But today I just wanted to make a try and inserted my SIM and checked if i can make a call. To my surprise the call was working. I was happy that the phone is activated.
But after 45 minutes, now again I am facing the same problem. The calls are not working. Neither I am able to receive the call nor I can make a call.
Nokia Nseries :: Changing System Font On N8?
Dec 29, 2010I want to change the system font on my Nokia N8 because I don't like it. I don't find it comfortable to read, and I especially don't like that *everything* takes on this font - even web pages which use their own font, in the N8 browser this is always changed to Nokia's font! My research seems to have offered me three options for changing the font.
Method 1: Installing a couple of unsigned apps that apparently only actually works on S60 smartphones and is likely to just not work or even break the N8.
Method 2: Involves copying some fonts renamed to a specific folder on a memory card - however for some bizarre reason if you do this you can no longer access the Ovi Store!
Method 3: Installing an application from the Ovi Store that is designed to let you change the system font, however no one who mentions this says what this app is called so I fear they may be talking nonsense and no such app exists!
So is there any way to change the N8 font that actually works and doesn't mess up the phone?
