Motorola Photon 4G :: Number Of Rings Before Phone Actually Rings?
Nov 2, 2011
Been a happy Sprint user since 2005 and have used various dumb phones and smartphones. The Photon is my 3rd Android.I have noticed that each phone , whether smartphone or not, has the same issue that has caused me to miss incoming phone calls here and there - the caller dials my number and hears several rings before my phone actually starts ringing. The phone goes to voicemail before I have the opportunity to answer the phone. The solution for my phones has always been to adjust the Slot Cycle index from the default setting of 2 to the setting of 0. This causes the phone to poll towers more frequently, thus the phone is more quickly aware of a new incoming call. The only negative implication is that the phone goes through battery a bit more quickly during the day...but it's really only a tiny difference. I've done this on my phones, on my spouse's phones, my mom's phone, etc.
Since the Photon's battery life is so much better than my prior phone (EVO 4G) I am very comfortable in adjusting the Slot Cycle index, so I obtained my MSL from Sprint and attempted the adjustment by going to the Dialer:##DATA# ->tap green Dial icon -> to the Data Settings menu...tap Advanced->From there you can see that the Slotted Index is set to 2. So I wanted to change the setting but can't get to it from Menu->Edit->enter MSL code->VerifyI called Sprint about this issue, and in the past they have helped me to change the setting. I have called more than once and have been dealing with the more advanced Tech Support team. No one at Sprint can figure out how to adjust this setting on the Photon.
My phone rings twice then cuts out on the 3rd. I have had extensive e-mail conversations with support staff to no avail. Initially they gave me numbers to input but that did not work. Then, on 2 occasions, the support staff did the work themselves, but my phone continues to cut out early. how to increase the number of rings?
How do i set up the number of rings on my phone, before it goes to voicemail ? Can't find this in instruction book, or voicemail prompts on phone. My carrier is AT&T. Thanks for any help.
I have set up my Curve 8360 but I cannot adjust the number of rings of the actual phone as I can for other notifiers. I have seen the message in the Blackberry manual that says that this might be controlled by the provider - in this case Vodafone. I have contacted them but they say they have no control over this. They can provide me with a code to extend the time before it goes to voicemail but it does not affect the number of rings. I can amend the volume and I have control over the vibration and LED but I can't change the number of rings from the current 1.
I am unable to set the number of rings on incoming phone calls. I can adjust the count for vibration, but no "count" icon is available in the ring tone section.
I have a Torch 9800 and am trying to change the number of rings for an incoming call before it goes to voicemail? I followed the instructions in the documentation, but when I go to the phone app, then to options, it says I should have a 'General Setting' option and I don't. Cannot find it anywhere!
My phone rings more than 10+ times before rolling to voicemail. How do I set the number of rings I want? I am missing calls as callers will not wait through through so many rings to get to vm if I am unable to pick up the call.
I'm a brand new owner of a 9650 and I'm stumped on trying to change a setting. Currently my phone rings only once before it goes to voice mail. I have looked all over the device to find how to increase the number and can't find it anywhere. I have checked sound profiles and see no option to do so. The manual for the 9650 says it's an issue with my provider. My carrier, Verizon, has been no help. This was not an issue with my old phone and I assumed it would be the same during the transisition to the new one. No go.
Is there a number of rings before answerphone is applied & can I adjust this and can I leave a personal message or is this to do with my carrier Orange?
People calling me have sometimes complained that if I am not available to take the call, they have to wait for many rings - and hence a long time - before the messaging system kicks in. And sometimes, callers give up, assuming I don't have voicemail. I know you can limit the number of rings on other phones, but I haven't find out how to do it with my iPhone. I'm sure it's easy though!!
Can anyone advise me how I can adjust the number of rings the X6 does before reverting to the orange answer phone. At present I have 4 rings and sometimes can not get to the phone before it diverts to Answer phone. All diverts have been deactivated.
I find this phone difficult to use, for even the simplest things. I'm trying to change the number of rings for an incoming phone call before the phone goes to messaging.
