Today i bought the blackberry curve 8520 as a prepaid phone to use with my current plan, because my previous phone got stolen.the plan is with optus and has $500 worth of calls, unlimited texting and 700mb of internet, used with a htc dream.but the browser, or any other form of internet, will not connect whenever that sim is in the blackberry

Having trouble with connecting to my or my works wifi. It registers both routers and displays the name across at the top of the phone and in wifi settings I have a black square with a white dash line and a green wifi symbol.
I have a Asda pay as you go sim which is fine for the calls text etc but I hearing not so good for the Internet.
I have managed to get the browser going with the Hotspot setting but I'm guessing this isn't using my home wifi as it as slow as a snail and keeps cutting out.
Without Hotspot enabled it tries to use VodaphoneLive and I get the message "unable to connect to the Internet, please try again later. If the problem persists please contact your service provider"
I have Verizon Wireless 8530 Cruve, I am running Windows 7. When I open the desktop manager and plug in my phone the computer shows it but not desktop manager. I have uninstalled desktop manager and reinstalled it, I have also rebooted the computer still nothing. I plug my husbands pearl in and it connects just fine.

I still can't connect to the browser.
I see the browser is "HotSpot Browser" But in the general properties how do I change the Default Browser To another browser for this to work?
I am connected to Wi-Fi but unable to connect to the internet like FB,Yahoo or other websites. My sister used to connect to wifi but now that I am using her handset, I cannot do so.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have the Curve 8520.I am a unique case of this, because with T-Mobile there is a way you can have a Blackberry without the data plan, so when I am trying to connect to the internet, it is ONLY through wi-fi.
On the home screen, the Wi-Fi Logo is lit up white, and it says the name of my network. However, when I try to access any webpage, the message comes up:"Unable to connect to the internet, please try again later. If the problem persists, please contact your service provider."It HAS worked before.
I have a problem with my dear BB 8530. Basically, I cannot connect to internet through BIS when I am in connection mode 1XEV, that means that I am inside the EVDO net. Once I make a web page address request or update twitter, the device remains 10 secs trying to get response from the net and later it switches to the 1X connection mode, and is in this mode that data access works!!!!!

I accidentally wipped my Blackberry Curve 8520 and since then i cannot use any of the Internet services through my data plan . I tried back up but still I receive the same message when i try using any of the Internet services .It's not even trying to connect through the operator network plus in the browser options i only have hotspot i can't find Internet browser.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWell here is the scoop I switched from my curve to a samsung instinct for a couple of days to try out the touch screen.It was a friends phone.I didn't like it, it was way to simple I like my apps and stuff on my blackberry.So I called sprint today to switch my phone back to my blackberry.I can get calls make calls, however I cannot access the internet or set up my e mail.I have resent my service books and received nothing.When I go back into my setup wizard and say setup e mail it says your device had a problem connecting to the server.When I got to like facebook it says no connection.I just want to get back on my interenet and e mail.

I went through the process of setting up the wireless but when I go to Manage Connections in the home menu I'm getting a dash (-) next to the wifi connection. It is connectiiong to my wireless network at home but when I go on the browser I get "An error occurred while fetching the reqested page". Also, when I go to Host Routing Table they're not entries. The mobile network I'm using is Digicel but I'm not on any blackberry service plan. Is it that the only way I can access my wirelss at home (or anywhere for that matter) is if I join the service plan? If that's not the case, then how do I get internet access using the wifi connection?

Last weekend she asked me if i could update her software, and i did so from the Blackberry Desktop Software and updated to OS6. Everything was working fine until we found out that it only connects to the internet if i use data service, but i dont want to because we have wi-fi at home. When i turn data services and while roaming OFF, and put wi-fi preferred, and when i try to open a web page in the browser it pop ups a window saying "Data Services are disabled. When running any of the apps first time (after installing) connection tru 3G or WiFi is OK. Usually i turn off 3G to save battŠµry.When i run an app next time - it requires internet connection (Curve 930 internet access is OK. Then - the same problem. View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a BB 9300 with a preinstalled OS 5.0 as I connect it to a the Blackberry Desktop software it prompted me to upgrade to OS 6.0. now my problem is during upgrading and downloading of modules my internet connection went off several times and error has occurred, now as I connect my 9300 to my laptop the desktop software cannot detect the unit and an error stating that my BB is rebooting thus I cannot connect with the software. 2) when I try to connect to internet opening the browser, it appers that I should have Wi-Fi connection on. But has my model GPRS/EDGE connection?
1- wi-fi connected , name of wi-fi comes next to service provider name at top of screen , wi-fi symbol comes at corner
2- mobile network is at off mode
3- browser option at hot-spot
4- the wi-fi diagnostic says status : ip address no longer valid , VPN profile is not found on connected to web the answers comes it is not connected to internet
My phone will only connet to the internet when the wi-fi connection is working. I can have a full signal for text messages and calls but when i turn the wifi off, i cannot connect to the internet or use the app world.
does anyone now how to fix this or know how i need to direct the settings or to see if the settings have been reset or something?

I am with orange and I have 500MB data per month. When I try and use the mobile network internet it says 'This is a WiFi service. Please ensure your device has an active wifi connection and try again'. Why is this? Also, when i try to update to 5.0 it says I need a data package but it worked on my old phone. And because of this I can't download the app world. The signal goes to SOS a lot as well but I think my house blocks the signal. Currently it says 'gprs' with 2 bars beside it.
