Monday i'm going to Paris and i don't like to pay for my blackberry internet when i'm there. Does any of you know how to turn your internet off? So you.don't have to pay for internet when you are in an other country.
View 3 RepliesI have had my phone for one month (curve 8520) with Virgin Mobile and managed to run up a bill of over £500. I put this on here to warn other Virgin customers to be very careful how they use their phone. There is a 25mb daily allowance for blackberry usage and a 1Gb monthly allowance for internet usage. I cannot understand what the difference is. When I contact Virgin I can check the balance of my internet usage - this never changes. Unbeknown to me I was using blackberry usage which I could not check with my provider. I had the facebook application and the ubertwitter application on the phone. These are now removed. As I understand from Virgin using any applications on my phone will mean using the blackberry usage which will not be enough and therefore I will get charged. Blackberry is marketing these phones to my age group - early 20's and Virgin are advertising it with application use.Has anyone else had this problem? I cannot understand what I can do with my phone or how to use it. Thank you for any advise you can give me.
View 7 Replies View RelatedToday I downloaded a app and then I decided I didnt want it so unistalled it in which it then said I needed reboot/reset so I clicked yes and then it will not come back on now. At times the light flashes red but nothing happens. I have tryed charging it, taking battery in and out. Any advice would be grateful it is only about a month old.

I can enter a www address but it just reads "loading", the little black box in the top right corner flashes then stops, disappears and nothing else happens. I end up closing it the browser down.

View 5 Replies View Relatedim hoping this will make my problem come across easier, I think the problem im having connecting to the bbm and facebook etc on my phone through wifi is that after id been using them fine while connected to wifi, i had blackberry settings sent to me via vodafone. Now im looking to go back to bein able to connect through wifi as someone else is using the phone, so would i have to restore the original setting and if so how do it do it?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI brought my BlackBerry a few weeks back, and brought the Data Plan (£5 for BBM, Internet etc for 1 month)... IT was working PERFECTLY until yesterday Morning... I woke up, checked my BBM as usual, Ended all the chats that were Broadcast Messages blah blah blah, and went to speak to one of my Contacts on BBM... THe message wouldnt send... I thought it's probably just slow or something.... Yet im still having the same problems now... Nearly 2 days it hasnt worked now, and it's getting very annoying!
Features that are being affected are;
- BBM
- Facebook App
- App World
- Browser
This is one message I usally get while trying to use the Browser:
"Unable to connect to the Internet, please try again later.
If the problem persists please contact your service provider."
Another thing that's really annoyed me is the fact that most people with a Similar problem to my has "gprs" in Lower Case letters, yet i have "GPRS" in Capitals, yet still not working.. I admit, on the rare occasion i can send a message but it takes ages, usually about 30 minutes. No matter where I go, whether it's my house, the woods, the town, anywhere, im getting the same problem, whereas before, I could go anywhere, including those 3 place and it would be FINE!!
I've done everything I could, Battery Removal, Wipe, SImple turned the Mobile Network off, then back on... NOTHING is helping!!
Until yesterday morning i had NO problems what so ever, then suddenly I get this!!!

I took out a contract with Virgin Mobile yesterday for a Blackberry Curve 8520. I chose Virgin as I have had a pay as you go mobile with them for years and wanted to keep my number with a minimum of fuss.
Have to say it has been one of the worst 'out of the box experiences' I've had with any technology recently.
Whilst Virgin's systems say the phone is registered, the Blackberry site say it is not and having held on to Virgin's customer support line for ten minutes or so listening to the Scissor Sisters (aaarghhh!!) I was told that I would need to speak to a Blackberry specialist who would call back with 72 HOURS!?
I've Googled this problem and it shows up on a number of non-Blackberry / Virgin forums. If anyone can put me in touch with someone who can get me up and running I would be grateful. Putting a phone out of action for 72 hours (not sure how the weekend will affect this) is not on.
I have a N97 mini, is there any way to turn off just the mobile internet connection? The mobile internet connection can be very expensive when you are abroad (in roaming) is there anything like the "offline profile" but just for the mobile internet connection (so the one can still call and use sms)?

View 4 Replies View RelatedJust got new 8520 to replace 8320. Windows will only recognise it as a Rim Composite Device and cannot find software.
I have an existing 8320 which connects and works perfectly OK on the same laptop.
This is what I have tried so far
1. Unstalled existing Desktop software and reinstalled both with downloaded version and cd provided version
2. Installed USB/modem drivers from Blackberry downloads and tried a manual add
3. Ditto with Microsoft generic rim drivers
This has taken about 8 hours of changes so far all to no avail. The 8320 is fine tho'
I got BB Curve 8520 and try to use the internet browser after enabling the wifi. It always fails with error "Failed to obtain an IP address". I have changed wireless security on my Linksys Router from from 'WPA-2' to 'WPA', Still the problem remains. My Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and iPhone are just working fine. I tried the above with & without simcard inserted. I have a Wi-Fi connection at home & office and want to browse using this and do not want to use BlackBerry Internet Service of my GSM operator.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently received a message telling me that an update was available for App World. I downloaded the update, installed it and rebooted. Now I am unable to download apps. When I hit the download button it takes me to the sign in for BlackBerry ID, then to terms and conditions and then to my ID settings! The only way I can get off this screen is to press Discard, which takes me back to where I started! I just keep going round in circles.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI have a Curve 8520 from TMobile (US).I also had a Pearl 8100 from Fido (Canada).I got the Curve unlocked and want to use it on the Fido network instead of the Pearl. I seem to have gotten everything working on the Curve, except for the email.I had the same email accounts (gmail, hotmail) set up on both phones, but for some reason now that I've switched over to the Curve on the Fido network, I can't send or receive email.I've checked all my settings, and they seem right.I can access the web, my Wi-Fi is set up, and I can send & receive texts. Anyone have any ideas about this email problem? Also, I can't remember my account username for the BB website to access my account online to change the email.When I ask to send my password, it says it has been sent to my BB, but of course I can't receive email, so I'm not getting it.

It has been stuck here all day! I called Fido earlier and asked them what to do and they told me to connect to my computer, I have done that and have tried everything and the problem still exists.
I have just upgraded to the BB 8520 Curve and I cant find predictive text anywhere?Surely it must be there somewhere !
View 8 Replies View RelatedGot a Curve 8520 and since updating yesterday, the frame rate when recording video has dropped significantly meaning jerky/jumpy video. It may be worth adding that even when in video camera mode but NOT recording the feed is still jumpy. I can see the difference by watching video I recorded before the update and also by comparing to my wifes phone (exactly the same as mine) which has not had the update yet.

I can see the wifi networks when i use the setup wizard, but after it trie to connect, i get this " - " symbol against my wifi ( in the wifi options). The wifi SSID is recognized and i face this same issue across all the wifi networks i tried to connect. I am currently using the T-mobile prepaid card. I cannot browse the internet and i feel really bad that blackberry has this wonderful device which cannot perform a basic function like wifi connectivity easily.
Kindly help me, as i really need the wifi connectivity. As a student the data plan seems too expensive.

Issue: I recd an sms from my friend which had an exclamation mark. When i tried to reply it gave me the following message "Requested facility not implemented" & i could not reply. (i have attached the screenshot..i have darkened the area as it was a personal message) Also i asked my friend did he set any priority, he said no as he had a basic nokia handset. So how is it possible to receive an sms with red exclamation (i understand that red exclamation means high priority)
Had my BB on Orange 1 week PAYG. It took a week to bring my phone number from previous carrier,
Meanwhile I was given a temp one. The number appears when I press send but although my number has now been transferred, the temp number still appears when I press send. Don't remember whether I input the number when setting up or whether it appeared automatically when the phone read the sim card. Please is there a way of me entering the new number or do I need to wait for Orange to do something, or tell Orange?I'm sure there is a very simple answer.
I hv got blackberry 8520 phone...i hv an issue with deleting the sms from the inbox..whenever i delete the sms...al d messages under tht thread gets deleted but it does not disappear from the inbox..n wen i try to open this "deleted" msg...it doesnt open neither it gets deleted although the msg content gets deleted...
also on few occassion der r multiple instances of the same msg thread...for eg..if i receive msg frm Mr. X
