I have recently changed my phone service provider and although I can send/receive phone calls, it is no longer possible to send/receive text messages. I just get the following message "required service not implemented".Another point is although I am sure that I have a Blackberry Bold, I am not absolutely sure it is model 9700 - (where can I be sure ?) - The same with the operating system !

View 1 Replies View Relatedso, yesterday afternoon, i factory reset my dx2. i suddenly started having issues while walking through setup. original ota gb, no hacks, no roots.i was able to successfully set up my google account, opt to skip verizon backup, & then it gives me a connectivity error w/ (3) options of "retry", "setup wifi", & "skip". the setup skips the screen to set up my various 3rd party accounts such as Internet, facebook, yahoo, picasa, etc. when attempting to setup my accounts via "settings" afterward, it only lists (6) of the typical 12-15 options.this just started yesterday for me & did not occur on the previous 5 factory resets performed over the last week.
the error screen presented during setup after electing to skip backup assistant states something about "connectivity is required to complete setup", giving me (3) options. "retry", "setup wifi", & "skip". "retry" & "setup wifi" are still unsuccessful. selecting "skip" bypasses the ability to set up accounts.additionally, once on the home profile, "system update" states that a "motorola service account is required", giving me the same options as during setup. "retry", "setup wifi", & "skip". and trying to "add accounts" via "settings" only displays (6) available types, half of which give intermittent crazy errors about "problems with my clock on this device." or "timed out" & "your account may not be successfully setup".
I'm trying to upgrade my phone to Android 2.1, but nothing seems to be working. I tried via PC companion, but it stops at the second phase ("prepare") telling me it's "Unable to install or start phone software update components". I looked at the forums and I found out a lot of people seem to have a problem with PC companion, so I tried Update Service. At startup, it says "Proxy login required".

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm a new user to BB device. From Blackberry webpage and manual, they stated that if we wish to update our device OS, we can either update through the web (Desktop Manager) with our computer or through our device itself via service provider (Wireless update).
If I have downloaded an OS package and wish to update it manually, what are the steps for this purpose and how? Please someone explain in brief, will appreciate that and how am I to ensure that the previous version of OS is removed? I'm currently reading about how to backup my data and 3rd party data, once I'm clear with everything, will proceed with the upgrade.
Does anyone know how to get rid of the activation required at the top of the main menu screen? I am using a rogers sim card, the phone works and all. Its just the activation required I wanna get rid of.

I have read much information regarding memory management including Article KB14320 and KB17624. However, I have not seen a list of required software or applications that should not or cannot be removed and still maintain phone operation. I am sure there are some applications that fall in the category of preferred, and still others that are completely up to the phone operator. Can someone help with such a list? I need to get up to the suggested minimum of 400 MB application free space and currently at 60 MB. I would like to keep as many of my optional applications as possible.

When I now select if, a tick appears in the box and other devices can 'see' my WPA protected Hotspot, but I get a message showing on the screen saying: "Activation Required. Click Continue to subscribe to a Mobile Hotspot data plan using the browser on your smartphone or on a connected Wi-Fi device". The only option is "OK" (not Continue). If I select OK, then I go back to the Manage Connections screen, with no tick in the Mobile Hotspot box. I am on an Orange UK voice and data plan (orange internet APN).

All my weather and internet radio applications work fine. The only thing I can not get to work is MMS. I can receive but not send. Says no mms service book.I found a generic T-zones service book that I installed to the phone using DM. Unfortunately the service book does not contain the MMS book. Where can I find or add this service book? There must be a way. Is is possible for someone else to send me their service book and have that work?
View 4 Replies View Relatedi have got a blackberry bold 9700 and ever since i upgraded to os 6 official download from blackberry website i have been having problems calling and receiving calls, it says no service currently available. i have a strong signal so that aint the problem and also when i put my vodafone sim into another device it is working fine. however i have downgraded and still no use. i have contacted vodafone and they said they cannot do much about, i took it to my local mobile repair store and the guy their thought it was blocked but my BIS works (blackberry internet service) which means my phone is not blocked because i can chat with my friends on the blackberry messenger. this has become a big problem because i mainly use my blackberry for calling.

The phone works (phone calls, SMS, internet etc). But, when I attempt to perfrom the Blackberry IS Sign In (previously created on PC), I get message that username/password invalid. If I attempt to create a new Username/PW using the phone I get the following message: "Unable to connect to the Blackberry ID service. Please connect to the wireless network and try again"

I sold my at&t bold 9700 and bought a t-mobile version, unlocked it and am using it on at&t and I don't have to pay the ridiculous price of 30 per month for internet service on my phone. really I only need the phone for texting, phone calls listening to music and taking some pictures anywayz. Till phone carriers lower their prices. I will never pay 30 a month for smart phone internet again.

I had to download from the site to my PC Install Desktop Manager and after that finally after a long time of searching i installed blackberry app world on my device. Worked nice and i installed Bolt browser (one of the apps). After this though i tried to access again the App world and a pop-up message appears that says "The data service is not oerational". I searched google a bit and many guys say that you need a data plan with your provider to download apps. The problem is that i downloaded Bolt with WiFi internet access and having "Mobile Network - Off" when i did it but i cannot do it again.

BBM and email works fine, but no other application requiring Internet service does (including application world). I already re-register the headset, got a service book sent and tried several hard reboots, and even reset it to factory settings but nothing seems to fix it. I already contacted my carrier and said that everything should be working fine as I do have internet/data services provisioned.
