I've just switched carriers as I've moved to Barbados, but when i try to activate the data on my phone with the new sim, it says the phone is incompatible with the service.I was advised by the new carrier to cancel the old data plan (which was prepaid so i had just forgotten about it) and to try again. It's still not working.
I'm hesitated to buy BB because i want to know:If not ,does downloaded WLM work with wifi? (because it doesn't using my friend's BB with my OWN sim card.I'm trying to connect downloaded WLM over WIFI but is says: data services unavailable )Installing third party applications ex: Antivirus , games or etc...if i want to use wifi for other things than BB services such as updating those third parties, can it be done over wifi?want to know how much restrictions do i have using Wifi in BB an i do all the other things on wifi that is usually/normally done on wifi excluding BB services ?
I am using BB 9700 with OS 5. recently I downloaded TWITTER 1.0.0.40. but I can't login, it says "twitter services are currently unavailable"
The message appears immediately on clicking connect. Doesn't matter if I have correct username & password.
I unistalled and reinstalled it several times OTA & by BB desktop manager and still have the problem.Meantime, I think it is not installed correctly, because when I am trying to share a photo, the twitter option is not availabe inside the media menu list!!
Bold 9700 - OS6 build 557 - EDGE network - BIS i am able to browse, but my twitter, facebook and other applications refuse to connect. Twitter constantly gives me either of these 2 error message " Twitter services are unavailable" or "Location connection time out after ~ 120000". Facebook says " not able to reach facebook servers at this time ". My emails, gtalk & yahoo work just right. Browsing is slow, but it works. i've been facing this problem for over 4 weeks, spoke with BB support team, ISP and even RIM Canada. Have done everything possible:
- Downgraded from OS6 to OS5 after wiping device via BBSAK - deleted Twitter app and re-installed - deleted service books - chose connection only as 2G - deleted IPP entry - updated APN entry - checked firewall - replaced SIM card - wiped off my entry from ISP servers and refreshed profile - deactivated & activated BIS services
Now this issue is specifically where i work, so my guess is its the problem with the ISP tower. At home, i get these errors as well, but i get connected about 60% of the time. While travelling inter-city two weeks back, in middle of this problem, i got 100% connectivity with no drop outs and no such error messages. My ISP - Vodafone says they've done everything and nothing else is left to be done, they're poitning fingers at my device now. My device worked fine since suddenly this problem started.
I downloaded facebook version 1.7 for my BB Bold. couldn't get it to work.. it won't recognize my email and password... it keeps on saying " connection error, service data missing unavailable" can someone enlighten me on this matter? what am i missing? i'm using wifi connection to access facebook.
I am on the Mobilicity network which has a bit spotty coverage in some areas and the phone can roam several times a day for a short time when traveling about the city or when on the edge of coverage. My Mobilicity plan has unlimited data while in their native network but the roaming rates for data are extremely high. It is surprising how quickly the charges add up when out of coverage for a very short time. Selecting Disable Data While Roaming turns off the BB data while roaming, but not WAP data. I would like to automatically disable ALL data while roaming so that when out of coverage there will be no data charges but when back in coverage the phone will have access to all data services. I realize that the phone could be set to the Mobilicity network only but I wish to be available by phone and SMS, even when out of Mobilicity coverage. I would like the operation to be automatic since this situation is not quite the same as going for an international trip and it is impractical / incovenient to manually turn the data services on and off manually throughout the day.Is there a setting in the 9780 or a connection manager app that would take care of all of the data connections while going in and out of roaming?
after 3 days of trying use my bb bold 9780 OS 6 , now i reached to solve the problem and could go through wi-fi with no data plan at all ,,,,,and here are the steps
1- trun of your cell fone network 2- turn on your wi-fi 3 - mobile network setup go and make data service on
DON'T FORGET TO TURN DATA SERVICE OFF BE4 U REACTIVATE YOUR CELL NETWORK AFTER YOU ENJOY A GOOD TIME USING WIFI
I have a new Bold 9780, my OLD data and backup are saved on the directory of CURVE8520 how to synchronize between the BACKUP and information of the 8520 and the 9780. I could not .
I got a blackberry 9930 from sprint and put in it Etisalat egypt sim cardIt was howing activation required message so i enterd the CDMA engineering screen changed the numver to my number and the movile country and network code. But now data services doesn't workI think because that Home sid and nidBlackberry reg id and the sip and mip as they're set to things about sprint?
I have a blackberry bold 9780. I backup all data before I wipe it. After that, I wiped and restored all data. Unfortunely, the password keeper can not be restored.
I wanted to disable all data on the bb 9700 (OS 5.545?) and only use it as a phone/SMS.Question is i went into mobile network and i set Data Services to OFF.But i also read online that if its GSM it should change from EDGE to edge, and 3G to 3g.Well anyways on this phone its still saying 3G even tho data is OFF.
I am using a blackberry bold 9700 V5.0.0.862. My phone is unlocked and I am using it on the Fido network. I was away for 5 weeks, and while away I used a simcard from that country in my phone. When I got back to Canada, I put in my fido sim card and the internet was not working. I called Fido and they did a reset on my phone and still no data.
The tech did some trouble shooting as well as gave me the Fido APN info, I did the host routing table reset and still nothing. I have no idea what the problem could be but Fido has told me there is nothing else that they can do, as I am using an unlocked device. I cannot connect to the internet, my BBM does not work, and I am not receieving emails. I can make phone calls and send texts. I have pulled the battery out many times. My phone says 3G.I don't know if some of the setting on my phone locked from using the international sim, if my sim is corrupted, or if I need a new phone.
I have a BB bold 9650 verizon. Got the phone from the US and am using it in India, Mumbai. I can use the phone and msg services. However I am unable to use the data services (bbm and the internet)
bought a week ago and worked fine for 4 or 5 days but no longer connecting to a data network. Service provider said nothing to do with the service. my SIM in my old device works fine and gets data.
i'd like to upload my BB Bold 9700 to the OS6, but it doesn't want. I tried to upload OTA and on the Desktop Software but the same message: There's no upload for your device. Please i really need the OS6, i'm not used to the OS5
Some of the mp3 files I synced from my computer somehow cannot be played on the BB music player. While I can see the songs listed, trying to play them will get the error message "Cannot play media. The content is missing or not available". However, I can nonetheless go to the File Manager to play those songs.
When I try to setup my email on the 9900, I am given a "Email setup application is temporarily unavailable, please try again later" message. It has been doing this since I got the device.
I acquired an unlocked T-Mobile blackberry 9700 late last year and had our IT admin guy in NY adding new user license to the blackberry server and then the besadmin had generated activation password for me. I'm using local mobile phone network in Vietnam (Vinaphone) and had installed its service book into my BB. Nevertheless, after having put in my email address and keyed in the activation password, after pressing activate for about 2 minutes of "Acquiring service connection..." my BB keeps on telling me that "Activation request failed. A service connection is unavailable" although the communication receptions signals from my local mobile carrier is strong and I can browse internet and accessing gmail or yahoo mail using my BB (which mean internet connection is available).
Today I had some issues with the Wi-Fi connection..The problem is that under Manage Conections > MOBILE NETWORK Settings there is an option that says: "Data Services"... As it is under MOBILE NETWORK settings which is related to my network carrier, and I don't have any Data Plan I guessed that i could turn that to OFF...So then a few minutes later I tried to use What's App, and there was no connection... so I tried using the Browser also without lucky. Then after looking for something that could solve my problem without finding something usefull I decided to work on it by myself, so I rebooted the BB, my Home Router, cheking for Connection Diagnose under Wi-Fi options, but nothing seemed to work until I decided to turn ON the Data Services setting I was talking about before... and voilá it started working... I'm not sure if this is an actual problem or something else.. but I think that an option under Mobile Network should not being interfering with the Wi-Fi connection, just makes no logic at all...
I've got a 500 mb per month plan on my 4s but this system services thing takes around 80 mb a month and I don't even know what is it for. iTunes accounts takes around 30 mb and I just want to deactivate it because it almost takes 1/5 of my cellular data per month.
My mom's phone's data services aren't working...it's only working when we're connected to the WiFi at our house. When I turn it off, nothing else works except texts and calls.
BBM's / emails won't work; I did the host routing table and that wasn't working either. Can anyone help me or have any suggestions?
My blackberry torch will suddenly stop being able to connect to any internet service. It has service and the BIS logo. I get the unable to connect to the internet message. Anyone have any solutions? I tried cycling airplane mode, battery pull, and pulling and replacing the sim. This is frustrating to say the least.
My 8120 is dropping its data services when roaming outside UK. When I airrve in a new country (happened twice in Sweden) the service works then drops, edge and gprs in lower case and no amount of battery pulls, messages sent to register BIS or calls to service provider will not make any difference. I can link to 3 diffrent network providers in Sweden and cant get data with any of them. Calls to the service provider show their BB services are fine it seems like data roaming isnt working on my phone. How do I get this problem fixed as Orange seem to be unable to fix this.
Can the phone be untethered from my service and re connected to boot the thing back to life again, would that work? I appear to be not linked to my BIS service when roaming, whats the fix for this. My host routing table is empty
This morning I couldn't remember my device password and I had to wipe my blackberry as a result. P.S. Could have sworn someone reset it for me via Blackberry network once, but could be wrong-- couldn't find any forum regarding that. After my data was wiped I reloaded my contacts via an app called Lookout Mobile. B-Berry was being fickle so I let it charge alone for a while to blow off some steam. Restarted our unrequited relationship this afternoon only to find a number of problems.
First, foremost, and probably the center of all problems is that I have no access to the internet or any app that uses the internet. I don't even have a browser icon. I called my wireless service provider and I unwittingly performed every one of their tasks only to find that they don't understand my problem.
I have battery pulled. I have done the host table. I have done diagnostics. I can't seem to find the problem. They also made me download the blackberry desktop software-- obviously should have used it hindsight, but does no good to me as a solution to this particular problem. When I try to access something like the Facebook app, it tells me, " You are currently on a service plan that does not support this application.connect to a Wi-Fi network or contact your service provider to upgrade your data plan."
Does anyone know of a way to set up the 9330 Curve to quickly turn data services off or on? When in the office, I want the phone to be on, but not data services. I wish there were a way to set up a smartkey to turn off or on data services
