BB Bold 9700 :: Local Vancouver Repairs / Changes?
Feb 6, 2010
Anyone know a good reputable place in metro vancouver that can replace the bezel on my phone?i went to this cellphone store and they ****ed it up horribly and i have to wait up to 2 weeks for new parts to come in because i used mine and the guy who did it broke the one i gave him and i think they took my whole phone apart cause my LCD is crooked and whatnot -_-'so today i took off the broken bezel on my phone and put my old silver one back on but the top cover is really loose (N)
I just got this phone in April, today I dropped it and a nick came out of the top right at the mute button. Rogers tells me that there's nothing they can/will do, except sell me a new phone. Since that's not an option, does anyone know where the phone can get repaired at? Rogers was no help at all. It's a sharp nick out of the plastic at the top, actually sharp to the touch. The screen and everything else is ok.I don't know what to do here, the phone is new and I don't want to spend another $400 to buy it considering I just got it 2 months ago!
I purchased my BB 9700 on March 2010 in Panama. I live in Venezuela and contracted with a local provider the services for the BB device. Everything went perfect until four weeks ago when I was transferring photos from my BB to my computer and updated the OS. After that I noticed I was not receiving emails not BB messages. I went to the local provider and they tried to fix the problem without success. After two or three attemps they concluded my BB was not recognized. They said that the "edge" was not in capital letters "EDGE" so that meant that I could not get the internet services. I placed my simcard in my wife's BB 9700 and the word EDGE showed up. I placed my wife's simcard in my BB and the word "edge" showed up. The conclusion was that my BB had the problem. So I ended up with a BB that's working like a standard cell phone. The provider told me that maybe BB or RIM could have mistakenly deleted my BB from their system.
My phone suddenly fail to register with our local network ever since i just got back from Philippines while i was in Philippines i was using the local provider SMART and all my BB functions was all normal and sunday eversince i got back i put back my DST sim card its been like everything has gone in my phone Fail to register with the network.i even tried and get the new sim card but still failed to get it.But i tired my friend sim the function is back to normal and it works normally and i tired my indonesian line it also works normally just like before i went to the philippine. Now my bbm is gone my what apps also gone most of all my business mail also gone.
I have a ROGERS Blackberry torch which i've had for about 5 months now. The phone laggs A LOT, randomly freezes, takes forever to send text's etc. The phoen is unlocked and is being used with BELL. My question is, who can I contact with regards to warranty repairs? Is there a way to contact RIM directly? or do I have to go through one of the providers?
I bought a sprint blackberry bold 9650 through amazon, and I'm in Kenya. There is no sprint network In Kenya and I'm unable to use the Blackberry service and hashcodes through a local network provider, safaricom. I can make calls and sms. What should I do?
my 8520 curve won't read it's SD card? i know it's definitely not the card as my wife just got a new BB also and it came with a brand new card that can't be read either. Thought i could live with it. but can't. You can't have any music, video content etc. My first blackberry died in a pint of guiness (don't ask), i took the sd card out before the insurance claim and had my fingers crossed that it would have survived the black death, but when my new replacement BB came it couldn't read the card. which i thought was down to the black stuff - initially. However since then i've tried different cards leaving me to believe i may still have the data on the original and that the phone or card reader is cream-crackered?
My friend recently sent in his iPhone 4, and shipped it out to Apple but during the process noticed they didn't ask for your carrier, he want's to make sure he recieves the correct carrier when he is given it back, is there a way Apple knows which carrier your with or whats the deal with that?
i have had my samsung slyde for not even i year and i have taken it in three times for repairs with the software crashing, another girl there has the same phone and was taken it in for the same problems. has anyone else had the same problem?
I got a new BB 9700 Bold yesterday and having problems with setting up the sync for the calendar and the contacts which are on my outlook. My hotmail email accounts are working okay. The outlook is on my PC and is the front face for my hotmail accounts.
When I go in to the BB Desktop device manager - version 5.0.1 (latest version) , I go in to the configure option on the left and it lets me click on calendar> then I select outlook and it then lets me select 'finish'. However at this stage an error box flashes up saying 'no available message stores'. In addition when I check the wifi config on the calendar and contacts icons on the BB device it will not let me select yes on the wireless connection for them.
I have a BB Bold 2 (9700). The Media Card slot wont lock down the card and keeps springing it out. If i keep the card pressed down it works but wont lock down.
I have Outlook 2007 on my desktop computer and use BT as a service provider and for my email, my Blackberry supplier is Vodafone and I use BIS.I have noticed that if my Blackberry receives an email first I don't get the same email delivered to my desktop. If my desktop gets an email first then the same email will be delivered to my Blackberry. I was happily deleting emails from my Blackberry thinking I would have them all on my desktop but I now find I have to check what emails I have on each before I delete anything. Is this an issue that anyone has come acrosss before and how do I resolve it apart from synching the Blackberry and desktop?I'm often away from the desktop which is why I bought the Blackberry in the first place.
I've owned my 9700 for nearly 2 months now and I'm still not used to the keyboard. I prefer my 8310's spaced out keys. has anybody replaced the 9700 keyboard with the Atlas keyboard?
I have a problem with my Blackberry and would be grateful if anyone knows what the problem is.I have only my Blackberry 9700 bold for 1 month or so.I am unable to lock my keypad by using the lock key on top of the phone. This has happened before but after charging my phone it started to work again. I have turned my phone on and off, tried charging it and the button still doesn't work. Although the keypad will lock when I put it into the leather case.Do you think it is a problem with my blackberry and I should return it? Or is this a problem people have had before and if so, how do I fix it?
My Bold is stuck on the boot screen (at about 75%). I've tried many battery pulls with and without the SIM and it keeps doing the same thing. I've searched what I think are all the threads on here relating to this, but I'm still stuck. I'm able to connect to the device if I run Loader.exe like a user suggested, but I don't know how/where to get software to load onto the device. All the places I've searched for an OS says I need to go into the device to find information about it. Well, I can't get into the device to do that. So, how do I know what OS to download and install? I really want to exhaust all possibilities before I have to completely wipe the device because I don't have a current backup. But, even if I wipe the device, I'm going to need to download an OS which I can't do now.
First two locked up constantly and rebooted. All I did was:
Set up Yahoo Mail Download Google Maps, Point, Movies Download One Theme - 18 Icon BlackBerry 9700 Sync with Yahoo Contacts Sync with Lotus Notes Calendar Only. Back Up WiFi connection to home router Bluetooth headset
I have recently purchased this 9700 (3 weeks ago) and am generally very pleased with the device. BUT If I leave the BB 9700 connected overnight to the computers USB Port for charging, and, obviously, after a few hours the computer will go to sleep, thus turning off the power to the USB port In the morning I find that the BB is: Off and will not turn on, unless it is power reset. In other words I have to open up the back and pull the battery for a second then after It is put back in the red light will display nevertheless it will turn on and be fine once it boots back up. There are no other indications or problems. I notice that other people have similar complaints with their BB's.
The other day I walked into a Walmart that had a display of cell phones. There was the 9700 there. I have the 9000. I was really looking forward to upgrading to the 9700, but now I don't know. It's LIKE REALLY small. I love the size of my 9000, and I'm afraid I'm going to have times typing on the 9700 keyboard now.
I just got my hands on an old Blackberry 8100 (OS4.2.1.96)Sadly, I'm almost certain that this phone won't be able to run 5, but while I was in high school this was my favorite phone and I recently just received one..for free. The phone's trackball doesnt work(clicking the trackball scrolls up), and the volume up doesn't work either. I'm not really going to use the phone as cellular device, but I would rather just have it on my desk as a souvenir...in working condition as a backup. So I've decided to buy a new housing for it, probably fixing the trackball problem, and then this is where I'm not sure. Would the new housing fix the volume bar problem also? Or would I have to actual replace parts on the phone?
I have no idea what's going on with my camera, when I open it, it keeps showing me a black screen and keep loading.
but my problem isn't like the others, cos it didn't show me message like, "Could not start the camera. Close other applications and try opening camera again".
I found it out! You have to dismantle the phone, though. Walkthrough:
1) Remove the bottom plate with the branding (use guitar pick, small flat screwdriver, etc) 2) Remove and save warranty sticker in case the phone actually breaks. 3) Remove the two small screws on either side of the phone. 4) Using a guitar pick, small screwdriver, or case-opener tool, start on the sides of the phones slightly below the convenience keys and move down towards the bottom. On the bottom, there are three small clips that WILL NOT BREAK NO MATTER WHAT. Disconnect them. Then remove the keypad top first. 5) Slowly slide the pick/driver/tool from the bottom edges of the phone up until the volume rocker. One tab on each side should pop, but they are difficult. Take your time. 6) Grip the sides of the bezel and slide upwards. The top cover should come off along with the back chrome bezel (the one above the camera). 7) The phone will now appear very basic with only the trackpad and screen recognizable. On the white lower portion, several small, rectangular LEDs can be seen. 8) Use a preferred color of sharpie to color a large clear piece of packing or scotch tape, and cut it into 2mmx2mm squares. 9) Place one color square over each LED. Reassembly 10) Insert the keypad into the bezel bottom first, making sure that the screw tabs for the keypad are underneath the screw tabs in the bezel. 11) Holding this configuration, slide the bezel on top first. 12) Make sure the hole for the trackpad and the trackpad itself line up, this will assure you that the keypad is in right. Also look at the "frets" in the keypad. 13) Push on the bottom of the bezel until you hear at most three clicks (the three tabs locking back into place) 14) Run your fingers along the side with pressure to make sure that you snap in the single tab on both sides of the phone. 15) Insert and screw in the two small screws you took out before. 16 OPTIONAL) Put back the warranty sticker on the ORIGINAL side that it was on before. 17) Snap the carrier plate back into place. 18) You're done PICS TO FOLLOW
Is it possible to stream my recorded video from the BB 9700 to a PC without having to transfer it first from the SD Card to the PC?I can stream audio through blue-tooth fine but cannot stream video either through blue-tooth or Wi-Fi.
Has anyone else noticed that the Bold 9700 Keyboard has been revised in the past few months. I got mine about 3 months ago, and with the ones that i received in the last few weeks they feature a new keyboard. They revised version has a rolled keyboard around the edge.
How hard is it to switch to the android OS from blackberry OS? Also how hard will it be to snych my contacts on the new android phone? I have suckmo aka T-Mo.Does anyone have suggestions on handset models too
I have a Bold 9700 recently bought about 4 days ago... At first all the communication channels works fine i.e. Mobile Network, Wifi and Bluetooth. Suddenly this morning the wifi stop working. I'm unable to switch the wifi on even clicking on it many times. Tried to turn off the device and remove the battery for about a minute and still the problem is not solved.
Is it normal for my 9700 to take more than 5 minutes to start up?? Its strange because not to long ago I used to do battery pulls or a soft reset and my device would be up and running within a minute or two!! By the time it load up my battery is almost drained!
I am working with a user who recently switched from a 9550 to a 9700 (verizon to at&t) for coverage reasons.Whenever he unlocks his keyboard (using the lock button on the top left of the device), he must enter his password to access his phone. The security timeout settings on his phone are set to 1 hour, but even if he locks the keyboard for 5 seconds, he still has to enter his password when unlocking it.The only time that the keyboard will lock and unlock without requiring a password is when it is entered/removed from the holster. We are using BES.I cannot replicate this issue with the 9650 or 9550. Unfortunately I don't have a 9700 at my disposal to play with.Is this a normal feature for the 9700?I've checked his encryption settings (disabled). We cannot disable the password function (mandated by BES policy). The issue is not that he has to enter his password, it's that he would prefer that a password not be needed unless the security timeout has expired.
