BB Bold :: 9700 - IM Not Working Via WIFI Connection?
Oct 5, 2012
My BB9700 is not getting connected to IM such as GTalk, YMsgr, Facebook via WIFI. I do know that it requires BIS services but how come Internet websites are getting connected thru browser via same wifi..
When i login in to either Slacker or XM radio streams using my wi/fi connection it only works for about 20 -30 minutes. Then it stops playing and i have to do a battery pull. to get it to start again. Is there a setting that limits the amount of data that can be streamed using wifi? It is really annoying, considering how long a reboot takes.
When I try to change the Default Browser Configuration I didn't find any browser except Hotspot Browser.my operator still doesn't have the BlackBerry feature and I need to use the internet in my 9700 blackberry but alwayes it opens in the Wi Fi connection.
I updated my Bold 9700 to OS 6.0 bundle 2475 . I'm using my phone connected to a wifi router that worked fine before update but now is unable to communicate.
The connection is ok (I can select my network in the list and the phone is connected) but the "Blackberry" icon doesn't appear on the main screen near the wifi icon and it's impossible to connect the phone to Internet or email.
Using 3G connection all work fine but I'm abroad and normally I use this wifi network on my apartment that works fine (I'm also using an iPhone that works great, it means that the network is ok).
I need help with my bb 9780. I got bbm on july 4th and it was working fine until i had to leave the house and it stopped working because there was no wifi connection. Isnt bbm supposed to work wherever? whenever? once you haeve the add-on that is. I dont know what to do. I talked to Fido and they tried everything. I pulled out the battery thrice, and turned off my phone 5 times. Nothing happened. They asked me to contact blackberry offices
I noticed that today the BIS over WIFI stopped working. This is concerning me because last year (June 2010) the same issue happened. The WIFI indicator turns from White to Gray and all BIS is routed through the GSM connection. This frustrates me because I travel overseas and have been using BIS over WIFI for about two years now. However during the two month outage from June - July 2010, I was unable to utilize BIS over WIFI until it suddenly started working again.
I have a data plan that allows for 250MB of data per month. My contract is through Vodafone Spain My device is the Bold 9700 My OS version is 5.0 bundle 1022
Like I've stated before, BIS over WIFI has been working flawlessly for about two years (except for the two month in 2010). To add insult to injury, nobody from either BlackBerry or Vodafone Spain has been able to come up with an explanation as of why this service suddenly stops. All I'm being told is that BIS will work with GSM, which is pointless information. For the 22 months I've used BIS, it has worked over WIFI.
I got a new BB 9700 Bold yesterday and having problems with setting up the sync for the calendar and the contacts which are on my outlook. My hotmail email accounts are working okay. The outlook is on my PC and is the front face for my hotmail accounts.
When I go in to the BB Desktop device manager - version 5.0.1 (latest version) , I go in to the configure option on the left and it lets me click on calendar> then I select outlook and it then lets me select 'finish'. However at this stage an error box flashes up saying 'no available message stores'. In addition when I check the wifi config on the calendar and contacts icons on the BB device it will not let me select yes on the wireless connection for them.
I try to use the Wifi network when I am outta own, for example in a hotel. When I get access to the wifi network I cannot use BB messenger o any messenger installed on my blackberry Torch. What can I do? Is there any special parameter to get full access to the wifi (no matter where I am) and so, use the messengers and check emails?
I had to get a new cell phone because my speaker phone no longer works. Luckily my phone was still under warranty. Now my phone does not connect wirelessly unless I have a wifi connection. I never had to have a wifi connection in the past to receive and send email, connect to the internet, etc.
My wifi used to work just fine but hasn't been working very well this past month to now. Any wifi I connect to has no signal in some spots, but high signal in other spots. For example,I have no signal in my bathroom but have strong signal in the bedroom. This doesn't make sense because my bathroom is literally two feet away from the bedroom. And I know there is nothing wrong with my router because I have the same problem at my friends houses too. This problem is really annoying to deal with so if you happen to know how to fix it, please comment below.
On a embedded PC I've configued a hotspot for mobile devices - any device can connect to WiFi it provides and use it to access websites. However one of our customers told us that he can't use it with Blackberry.Only funcionality we need is website access, no need for UMA or any other extra BB-specific features.First problem we had was that BB couldn't associate to hotspot at all. That is fixed now by disabling 'wmm' on hotspot.Problem that stays open is accessing websites. The browser is set to 'hotspot mode' but whenever i enter url in a browser the request times out. The gateway is correct, DNS-server (gateway itself) is correct too, IP address is assigned correct.I dug into it and i can see that most of DNS queries don't reach the hotspot at all. When i try DNS test utility results are the same - most DNS queries don't reach hotspot. I can see BB exchanging ARP 'who has' APR 'is at' packets and thats all.Ping to my hotspot works when i chose 'WiFi -gateway' (however it responds only once after ~1600ms, later requests time-out). When I try to ping it via IP all request time out (however i can see in logs that ping reaches my hotspot and it responds immediately).Hotspot config is atheros (2413) based wifi card in ap mode. Driver is ath5k from 2.6.38 kernel. I use hostapd to create wifi network and dnsmasq as DHCP/DNS server.
I have a very annoying problem with my Nokia 5800 XM and the Spotify-app. I updated the app to v. 0.4.3.9 yesterday and it required that I uninstalled the old version first, i.e deleting all my cached tracks. Now today when I'm going to resync (on WLAN, since it's about 500 tracks) it just won't connect. I choose the correct WLAN from the list, but the app continues being blue (not green) and then the list pops up again. I read another discussion about almost the same thing a moment ago, so I tried to go to the menu and check the WLAN connection from its menu. So I did that, and it says my WLAN has full signal strength (I'm right next to the router) but then it loses the connection and asks me again which network I want to use. I have not had any issues with WLAN in any other app, and I have synced tracks with Spotify on my WLAN before, so I have no idea where the problem lies. Maybe something with the update and my WLAN? I don't know...
About the attachments: The list that shows several times and then the WLAN list where I'm connected to my network and it has full strength. "Marsvinsfarmen" is my network.
I have been using my wi-fi without any problem for around a year now on my curve. I now have the wi-fi logo appear dimmed but not connected and never seems to connect for the past 2/3 days. The internet connection is fine as is working on my laptop with no problems, through wi-fi!
I have a Bold 9700 and HS500 headset. Everything worked perfectly for a while - music, calling etc. but just recently if I try to use voice dialing, if I hold down the control key on the earpiece to initiate voice dialing it gives some slow beeps, disconnects and loses its pairing connection to the phone. Now I have to go back - delete the headset and re-pair them again!
I am having little problem with my blackberry 8520....earlier today I couldn't see my blackberry messenger on the instant message file, so searching for it led me to reloading my phone and before I reloaded it, the wifi connection was working perfectly, but now I can connect to wifi but my instant messengers are not working with it, like my blackberry messenger and yahoo messenger are not working with the wifi connection. And under the "Default Browser Configuration, I can see T-mobile internet and Hotspot browser alone.
I upgraded to OS .656 last night, and it somehow messed up my phone and made it to where I had no Wi-Fi connectivity unless I turned the phone's cellular radio off and forced it to use Wi-Fi. Otherwise, it would just use it's painfully slow EDGE network.
I downgraded back to .593, and all seems fine. It connects and the Wi-Fi logo goes from gray to white, as it should. But that process (connecting and the logo turning white, indicating connection) takes about a minute. The network's name will show up, the Wi-Fi logo will show up (in gray), and then after about a minute it turns white and I'm connected.
Network Name is on home screen + Wi-Fi indicator is dimmed.User Manual reads:Your device is connected to Wi-Fi network but does not have access to BlackBerry services over the Wi-Fi connection. After several hours perhaps overnight the Wi-Fi indicator comes on and then I HAVE "BLACKBERRY SERVICES". until the next time I leave the house and drive down the road.
My point iswhy should I have to wait an indeterminate length of time before I can use Wi-Fi internet services? From the time my Wi-Fi network name appears on the screen I should be able to access internet via Wi-Fi.what gives? How can I overcome this indeterminate waiting for the system to gain acces to "BlackBerry services" over Wi-Fi.
I'm currently travelling and it is cheaper to use a local '3' 3G dongle for my laptop rather than my phone. I was wondering what the easiest way to get my blackberry to connect to the internet using my netbooks (win xp) connection? I would like to use BB Messenger for free. There doesn't seem to be a easy way to do it, I've tried Bluetooth and ICS but with no luck.
I have a 9700 on swisscom, and I have a problem. My phone used to connect to the 3G Network and BIS perfectly fine until about 5 weeks ago. It still connects to the 3G, but the symbol stays small (no data/no bis). If I turn the network settings to 2G only, I have no trouble connecting to the BIS and Data, and I also don't drop the signal. The wierd thing is that it used to work perfectly and now 3G just doesent properly work.I have tried everything I can think of, I bought a new sim card, reloaded preveious OS versions where It worked on, resend registration message, deleted my bis and so on. What else could I try? as this is 3G phone and I want to use 3G.
Very often I lose my blacjberry connection (means that the blackberry symbol near 3G is missing) It occurs often when I use google maps, and now when I use bb app world 2.0 ..Seems like when the data amount is too high, connection is lost. I only can get it back by disabling 3G signal and enabling it again ..
I don't know why it does it, I had no problem with my bold 9000, but since I changed to 9700 I also changed my phone operator..Or maybe It's due to my faceplate change and I screwed myself not moving certain parts to the new faceplate..
This is my first post so be gentle.I have connected my 9700 to my corporate network via the wireless network we have. When I browse the Internet how do I know if I am using my corporate network connection or my 3G?The reason I ask is that our company Internet connection is locked down and access to specific sites are either blocked or only accessible at specific times. As an example Facebook can only be accessed between 12:00-14:00. However when I use my BB I can access that site outside of that time - which makes me think that though I am connected to the network I am not using it to access the Internet - albeit it does seem alot faster.
I recently moved to a brand new AT&T BB9700, it is just awesome, the best change from an old Curve. The thing is I'm having serious problems with the Battery. I'm having annoying and unexpected "blackouts" or "shutdowns", wheterver you may want to call them, with an apparently perfect battery level. Please take notice that the first charge of my BB9700 device was for a full charge as indicated by some of you for 16 hours.
Ever since, I'm having a perfect 3G and EDGE connection, been very careful not leaving open applications, but there are times, when having let's say 30% to even 60% apparently battery level, that the BB9700 completely shuts down, unoperative, without any kind of alert! No low battery led, or indication on the screen whatsoever. This is freaking me out, because this is not supposed to work like that.
I've been reading that there are some of you that have a perfect full day or even more of a regular "BB usage" meaning email, conversations, web browsing, etc. I'm 90% sure the Battery is damaged or faulty, so I need you help to guide me if there is something I'm doing wrong (I think not , and besides need your orientation on how to ask RIM/BB for a replacement battery if effectively my battery is not working as it should, and as I paid to be working!
I've never had a problem with any other devices connecting to my home wifi, but my Blackberry 9700 keeps getting the grey wifi icon on the home screen, and when I'm trying to load a website, it keeps switching to Edge or 3G to complete the loading of a webpage. In manage connections, I sometimes have a green tick next to my home broadband, but very often I have a (-). Is there anything I can do to make the connection better? So far, I've tried:Deleting the connection and setting up the wifi again; Pulling the battery.Neither has helped. Could it possibly be a hardware fault? I have the up to date OS etc.
Few month ago i changed my plan to BIS lite and everything was going on smoothly until i updated my os6 to a newer one and now i can't get my BB to browse on wifi and my plan does not involve browsing on network , i tried
-calling the customer service but they have no idead what do to ( pattery pulls, wipe resintall software etc. ) and i can't get my mobile to work on wifi ,
- doing battery pulls
- downgrading to the OS 6 that i was on
- restoring my old service books
- choosing wifi prefered from network
- wiping device
i can't even download program from app world though i am connected to a wifi network with full signal and a lot of devices are working on it ( including my BB the night before )
I am sure I used to set wifi as preferred in my 9780 in order to reduce my phone bills` costs. I don`t remember how I`ve done it?I cant find `advanced options` in my menu but I recall I may have done it via that option.
My brand new phone goes into a white screen and locks up.T-Mobile said to reload the OS .330. Is that the fix?I did a back up and can reload the OS.When I go to restore my data, (after three times) about half way through, the BB loses connection to laptop.I get error "could not establish connection to device". BB reboots, and I still have no data.
Also, through all this, I was getting JVM Error 529.I kept pulling out the battery.
Question: Why the white screen of death? Why is my back up not restoring? Should I start over again? Is there a way to do a clean install and not install over the existing OS?
I acquired an unlocked T-Mobile blackberry 9700 late last year and had our IT admin guy in NY adding new user license to the blackberry server and then the besadmin had generated activation password for me. I'm using local mobile phone network in Vietnam (Vinaphone) and had installed its service book into my BB. Nevertheless, after having put in my email address and keyed in the activation password, after pressing activate for about 2 minutes of "Acquiring service connection..." my BB keeps on telling me that "Activation request failed. A service connection is unavailable" although the communication receptions signals from my local mobile carrier is strong and I can browse internet and accessing gmail or yahoo mail using my BB (which mean internet connection is available).
Laptop: Acer Aspire 5002WLMi, Windows XP SP2 Smartphone: Blackberry Bold 9700 Network Device: Bluetooth, Wifi (ad-hoc not available for bold 9700?)
I am using my laptop for traveling and I use USB CDMA modem connection to connect to the internet. Recently my wife bought a Blackberry bold 9700 hoping that she could access internet without carrying her laptop while traveling with me, sharing the same connection from my laptop. I have been trying to use WiFi to connect my bold 9700 with my laptop using ad-hoc but it seems that bold 9700 does not support ad-hoc. Therefore I am trying another way to connect to the internet from my BB using my Bluetooth. I have linked my blackberry device through bluetooth and my laptop is currently connected to the internet.
I have been trying to use my wife's BB to connect to the internet using my laptop's bluetooth connection. But I could not get it to work. Before posting here, I have been searching everywhere on the web for a guide but I could not seems to find one. Could anyone guide me on how to share my laptop internet connection so that my BB could access the web using the same connection as my laptop? If bluetooth and WiFi doesn't work is there any other way? Using USB perhaps? In short: Laptop internet Connection > Share using ? and how? > BB's can browse the web without additional data plan.
