I just got my BB Bold 9700 this afternoon (WOO!) It's working great but every time I go into my contacts the screen is stuck at "Copying to Contacts" with the bar filled about 3/4 of the way. Is this something that will eventually load fully and I just have wait for or should I look into this?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Bold 9700 running 5.0.0.545 with bell mobility. When I upgraded to this version I am no longer able to type in a contact name from the home screen to dial them. I now have to go into the address book, then type their name. I can only enter numbers directly from the home screen. Is anyone else having this issue?
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe trackpad on my Bold 9700 stopped working last night. It scrolled but would not register being pressed. Followign advice elsewhere on this site, I downloaded the desktop manager and backed up the device, then installed a new operating system (version 6).
Now nothing on the BB is working. It is stuck on the terms and conditions screen that starts "This handheld device includes software that it proprietary and confidential to Research In Motion Limited. . ." I can see there is a blue arrow at the bottom, implying I need to scroll down and accept the terms and conditions, but as none of the keyboard is responding, I can't do this.
Today, I signed up for Blackberry Email Service with T-Mobile. I got a message that an update was available, so I downloaded and installed it. However, when the Blackberry rebooted after the installation, (which seemed to take much longer than normal), the screen reads "Blackberry Platform 6.6.0.195" followed by a listing of all of the programs and apps on the Blackberry. There's also an error message that reads, "Uncaught Exception: java.lang.Null Pointer Exception". When I click "OK" there is another message reading, "Uncaught Exception:ApplicationRegistry.wait For(0xbfca09409ffe99e5) timeout. Then I get another reading, "Uncaught Exception:java.lang.Error" Every application on the list seems to have an error, and nothing will open. But I can't even shut the phone off. I have tried all of the four different reboot methods, but nothing seems to work.
I am wondering if I were to sync the Blackberry with the Blackberry Desktop Manager on my lpatop if it would reset the OS to the way it was before the update.
I am attempting to update the OS on my BB Bold 9700, as suggested by the BB Deskyop Sofware. The update started and seemed to be progressing but about 3/4 of the way through it is frozen at "Loading module"net_rim_speech_data_en_US.cod".
What should I do? The system warns "do not disconnect your device or stop this process as it could make your device unusable"
Later: I solved this problem by disconnecting the phone from the PC and downloading the OS6 package from the Blackberry.com/Downloads site, re-installing the Blackberry Deskop Sofware and re-starting the update process, this time with all power saving on the PC turned off.
I have had my BB Bold 9700 for about six months and love it for the most part.Just recently, the trackpad stopped being responsive as far as being able to move the selector bracket (cursor?) around to select an icon for a program or even move the cursor within any program.At first, waiting a little bit would help.Then turning it off and on with the red key worked.When that stopped working, I did a battery pull and it worked a few times.Then when that stopped working, I did a battery pull and held the escape key (the arrow that does the uturn right?) which I understand from the threads that I have read is BB safe mode.This did not help.Now it is frozen and I cannot get it unfrozen.The last thing I did was load a game (Final Fantasy), but I have been playing that for over a week with no problem then, out of the blue, this problem started yesterday.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI tried searching similar topics but could not find relevant ones. everyone seems to have no issue with swapping out sim cards on their bolds. If there is a thread already open, i do apologize. I'm really frustrated and really need my blackberry to be up and running.
I have a Bold 9700, updated to the latest OS, everything works fine. I recently had some issues with my old sim card so I went to my service provider to change it to a new one (same number, same line, same contract, just a new sim card).
As is expected I was told that when my old sim is deactivated, simply insert my new one and I can use my phone as per normal.
However, when I did this, the phone was stuck at the loading screen (the entire bar is white) for eternity (maybe 5 minutes or so) before proceeding to the homescreen. There is no "verifying security" load bar, the phone is entirely frozen, no buttons work, the touch pad does not work, it shows 3G on the top right without the blackberry sign, there is no service provider name, and once in a while the small clock loading logo appears.
I pulled the battery a couple of times and the problem persists. I called the service provider to reactivate the new sim card, they did it 3 times, same problem. I inserted the sim card into other non-blackberry phones i have and it works on all other phones. When I put back my old deactivated sim card into the 9700, the phone starts up fine within 2 - 3 minutes, "verifying security" bar as per normal, everything moves, just no service connection. When i turn on the phone without a sim card it starts up fine as well with a message at the top saying insert sim card.
I even went down to the blackberry technical service department of my service provider and they were of no help. all they could say was "we have to wipe your phone and reload the software" which I am trying to avoid and I can do myself anyways.
My phone is unlocked, comes unlocked here in singapore, I even checked using the "MEPD" method, all disabled.
This has been very frustrating, especially when I need my blackberry for work. What is wrong with my phone? How can the simple replacement of a sim card be so difficult on a blackberry when it is problem free for ANY other phone I have ever used? I am now dreading when I have to travel abroad for business and require a foreign sim card.
My device downloaded an upgrade "successfully"--according to the message that flashed on the screen. Suddenly all applications disappeared from the screen and this message came up "Uncaught exception:Application Registry.wait For (0x5364ff2940fa3920)timeout" When I press "OK" another message pops up: "Uncaught exception:java.lang.NullPointerException" no matter how many time I press "OK" it sits there frozen. I have removed the battery, reloaded, etc. Nothing changes. I can't access any applications or settings features so I am unable to reset or uninstall, etc.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have the 9700 Bold.I was listing to a visual voice mail when I received a call.After the call the visual voice mail message is locked.I can delete it but when I get a new visual voice mail the old one I deleted re appears along with the new one and both are locked.All of this occurs in the email app.I can go to the visual voice mail app. And it works as it should.I tried deleting all voice mails in both apps. but it dose not solve the problem once a new message is left.

I ust bought the model only, not with a contract from any carrier.My gf uses her simcard but doesnt have a data plan. We dont intend to use the email functions.But we do want to have WIFI on my home network. Been already busy for a few days and have seen several sites and seems that a lot of people have problems with this issue.Inside my router I see there is an IP adress assiged to the blackberry and I see the mac adress of the BB. But the blackberry keeps saying Failed to obtain an IP adress.Other laptops and my IPhone connect instantly to this router.And how to contact the blackberry technical support? Or can I return the phone under warranty?Im not so familiar with blackberry's.I also tried it with my own simcard which does have a data plan with it. But the same problem exists.Already reset the router a thousand times and removed battery from the BB a dozen times..on the BB screen I also see the WiFi is connected to my home network router but the wifi logo doesnt light up.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen in the App World icon was asked to set up BB ID which I did and it was being submitted, an e mail arrived and the screen froze with the applicating still being submitted message. Only way out f this screen is by tapping red 'power' button. Have turned off BB and on again after couple of minutes, all the rest is OK, but when I go o the App World icon it still comes up with the frozen screen.

After the restart, I typed my correct password but then the screen is frozen. I restarted my device again, and it was still the same. But when I typed the wrong password, it responded and "wrong password" window appeared.And then, I saw this post http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Tour/Frozen-after-typing-correct-password-HELP/td-... and it said that I still can switch application by holding the blackberry button and switch between applications that is running on background. And I still can. But it is so annoying that I can't go to my home screen.

My phone was fully charged sitting in the charger all night as per norm, but when I woke up I hade a frozen white screen so I pulled the battery for over 2 min's then put it back in the red LED was constant for 15-20 seconds then off. I have tried charging it and tried putting on a new OS but as soon as I plug any USB in the phone the LED will go off and will not be recognised by my laptop nor will I get any charging LED.

View 4 Replies View Relatedi'm using a blackberry torch and my provider is China Mobile. My wife uses a blackberry bold 9700 and she is in Indonesia and her provider is Indosat. Since the past few days i've not been able to send her any messages on bbm so i deleted her and when i tried to re-add her it only shows pending authorization. When i send her any PIN message it doesn't go thru and says service blocked however she can send me PIN messages. I've asked my friend in China to add her but they are also facing the same problem i do.
I don't know what to do as it is very annoying this problem has happened. We have never faced such problems before hence please advise me what to do. Just for your info her PIN is 2190FC0C.By the way, she is able to receive bbm from everywhere except from China and i'm able to send my other friends bbm in Indonesia only to her i can't send.

I don't know what happened? Those that has to do with a different sim card inserted into the phone? Is it some kinda BB security lockdown software? I'm using the Celcom-Vodafone (Malaysia) package. View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen receiving a new call from a new number (with caller ID, this number is not in my contact list), I can see both the name and number displayed, if i go to Add to Contacts, only the number gets copied over, and i have to manually type in this name (came displayed thru caller ID), is there any ways to get this default name copied over every time when I add a person so I don't have to type it in? A side question, numbers broken down to ### ### #### with spaces that are saved in contacts still will work with calls, but when receiving text messages my phone wont recognize it was already in my contacts(as in, it will show the text is from a number instead of the name I saved in my contact list). because text message numbers come with +1######### format.

Wouldn't be so bad but it has me in there too and I am twice her size so I see me. Yes I know what's the big deal, you know who's calling, but it is aggravating that this is happening every time she calls me. I change it back to the saved picture and save her picture, then she calls and up pops her facebook profile picture.Do any of you know what I can do to fix this without removing the faceboof app?
