Desktop Software V6 application loader for new software for Bold 9000 won't allow the "apply" button to be clicked. Says "exceeded available storage" (124.5 mb), which is unchaged even after I deleted several large apps from the BB and rebooted. How do I get the application loader to work?
When I start the "BlackBerry® Desktop Manager" the "BlackBerry® Application Loader" is run automatically. It's a problem if my PC is not connected to INTERNET, since I can't stop it clicking on "Cancel" and the "BlackBerry® Desktop Manager" become hanged. Therefore, I can't use my device as an External Modem.
It is happening since I updated the "BlackBerry® Desktop Manager" to Version 5.0.1.37.I want to configure the "BlackBerry® Desktop Manager" to ask me if I want to run the "BlackBerry® Application Loader", in a manual way. But I have not found how to do it.
I've got a clean (wiped to factory reset) BB8800, with a first time installation of BB Desktop Manager on a new PC. The BBDM is 5.0.1.16. Everything is uncluttered with previous detritus.
However, when I connect the BB to the Desktop Manager, it asks me to update the Application Loader. I follow the instructions: OK to upgrade Disconnect BB Click OK to close BBDM Closes Desktop Manager, Downloads 16Mb file Goes to MS Installer Verifies the files Installs the files It reopens the Desktop Manager Then lo and behold, it asks me to UPDATE THE APPLICATION LOADER!!!
I'm on Application Loader 5.0.1.52. Is there any chance of downloading the newer Application Loader directly because everytime I go through the loop, it's downloading the installer files, and I can't find it in the cache.
Just for ref the BBDM components: BBDM 5.0.1.16 DDDevMngr 4.1.0.14 RIM USB Driver 4.1.0.4 RIM Serial USB Driver 2.2.0.3 Application loader 5.0.1.52 RIMProgram 1.0.0.3
Installed vlingo but later uninstalled. Now there is no "Switch Application" when clicking BB button and scrolling to bottom of list like there use to be? Is there an option for this? I know there are other ways to get to switch application but I would like this option back as well.
I am trying to upgrade my OS through DM. I went to click upgrade after connecting my 9700, and it pops up "application uploader needs to be upgraded." I tried installing it as it advised, 5 times already and it still pops up the same message. I tried uninstalling and installing DM again with the latest version but it is still happening. Any clues on how to fix this?
So last week or so, my phone took a bit of a swim. I did the usual, put it in rice and let it dry out. Then I turned it on to find it continously rebooting itself. Seeing as how I had no idea what was happening, I brought it to a shop to get it fixed. A week later I got it back and basically it was doing the same thing, only at the end of the reboot cycle the white screen would come up, then repeat. I googled this and saw that my blackberry was "nuked." There was an issue though; my phone had been totally wiped of handheld software. So I redownloaded it, then followed the steps to repairing it. But it would always stop at the second step saying "application loader was unable to connect to the device" when reconnecting to the jvc. Is there anything I can do or is my phone totally done?
Downloaded and installed latest OS for my 9700.On the very last stage "Restore Device Data", my loader stalled and I'm afraid may not complete. Any information on how I can protect my data and the phone's data and how I can restart the loader?
Your BlackBerry Application Loader needs to be updated before your can continue. Do you want to update now? [Yes / No]
When I click YES, the Desktop Managers starts to download the Application Loader update. Then I am instructed to close the Desktop Manager so the setup can continue. After the setup is complete, the Desktop Manager starts on its own again and directly tries to open Application Loader. And OOPPS !! it tells you again that it needs to be updated !!! I kept doing that for over 5 times! and I am still getting this wierd messages !
Here are some usefully details:
Device: BlackBerry 9700 OS: OS 5 Desktop Manager: 5.0.1 Windows: Windows 7 Ultimate
I just updated my BB 9700 for the first time (511 updates to be exact). The upgrade is currently at 11 out of 12 upgrades and it is taking about 45 minutes to initialize before it gives me the message: "The desktop loader is unable to connect to the device, you may need to enter a password on the device."
The BB is not asking for password and I do not have any password protection on it. I have unplugged the USB from computer and the phone, reconnected and clicked retry and it continues to give me the same message 45 minutes later. I am freaking out a bit because it cleared all my contacts off and I believe the process it is trying to do is to restore that information.
I'm trying to update my BB bold 9700 to 6.0 bundle 1879 (v6.0.0.448 platform 6.6.0.124), when it reaches the modules backup 156 of 660 it says: Application Loader was unable to backup data on your device.
Since I have had by Bold 9000, the trackball has always had problems with respect to movement but usually a little cleaning with a Q-tip and alcohol has done the trick. This time the problem is the ball doesnt seem to depress as much as it does or it doenst respond all the time. Have to use the enter button. When the trackball does respond it does double clicks. So If I open an email for example its already set up to reply. lol.
I read a trackball dome might fix things?
BTW my unit is still under warranty but I really dont want someone elses refurb if I can reliably fix it myself and know that the dome is the problem and nothing else ie the processor. Everything else appears OK.
With default BB9000 web properties set, javascript support enabled, suppose you are at a web page which has a listbox control and you need to display the list items to select one row.how do you do that with the BB9000 ?what button or what combination ?
This is my second thread..I want to ask..is it better to use trackball click or enter bottom to execute for longlife useable??Because I have several issues that always use trackball click to execute app will damage an internal component inside ..(Even I know it always gonna be change )
A few weeks ago the click function of my trackball stopped working. I think it was because I had moisture and dirt on my hand when I picked it up to use it. I have been reluctant to take it apart since I don't have a backup BB and it is still 90% functional without this feature working. Today, I did 3 things. First, I took rubbing alcohol and a q-tip and soaked the trackball. Then I used a piece of a straw, threaded it down between the black piece around the trackball and the chrome bezel, gently pulled up on it and used as much compressed air as possible to blow out the area under the trackball. Then, while the battery was out I pushed on the trackball assembly from behind pretty hard. I repeated this procedure a few times, and it suddenly started working. It was intermittent at first, but is working normally now. For how long I don't know but thought I would share this for others that have the same issue.
Yesterday, I noticed that suddenly the Send (Green), End (Red), and "A"/* keys and the trackball click all stopped functioning. All other keys operate normally (and the trackball scrolls fine), but this is an exceptionally annoying problem. I can't believe it's hardware related, unless these keys all are somehow linked. That being said, I've tried numerous battery pulls, upgraded & downgraded the OS ( between the AT&T-approved .297 & .304, I believe) - and so far nothing on the software end.
The moisture indicators are white, and it hasn't been any closer to moisture then in my pocket during a rainstorm. This problem came on suddenly; I did, one other time, have issue with only the trackball click about a year ago, but that mischievously disappeared by itself after my brain melted in search of a solution.
I've searched around & seen many others with similar problems - but there are no causes given or solutions told of. I don't really want to take this damn thing apart, but it's running up on that real quick. My AT&T contract is up in a month, and I'm unwilling to spend $100+ dollars on a refurb replacement model via my protection plan so close to renewal.
ANY ideas what's causing this problem? Anyone with ideas, please feel free to respond or BBM me - PIN supplied above.

I have a blackberry bold that i paid 150$ for.The lock and unlock button works but it doesnt make it the 'CLICK" and i have to press it a little harder to make it work. how much it would cost me to fix such an issue ?
I got my Blackberry Bold 9700 from AT&T about a month and a half ago, and recently I've been having problems opening texts. It'll say I have a new text and I'll go in my inbox to open it but when I click, it won't let me read it. It'll let me open the ones before it, but not the unread one. Even if I click the the menu button then "open" it still doesn't work.
Got my first bb ever last night with the bold and I love it. But, I have a question: when browsing sites in the browser, when you hover a link aren't you supposed to be able to just push in the trackball button to 'click' the link? Its not working for me on any sites. I actually have to press the BB menu button and select "Open Link". (e.g on crackberry wallpapers, when i click on a specific genre of wallpapers like "ART", I have to select "open link" instead of just clicking the trackball). It might just be because I am not familiar with all the menu settings yet and this is a buried setting somewhere.
Available for download from BlackBerry - BlackBerry Desktop Software Comment: This version has a cleaner look and is easier to navigate then prior versions
I have been going through this forum for a while and have tried all of the fixes that I can find to no avail. I have a brand new Windows 7 64-bit machine, that never had the Desktop Manager installed. I have installed version 5.01 off of the web site. Windows is able to see the Blackberry in the Device Manager just fine and I can also see the internal storage available under My Computer and I can access all folders. The Virtual Ports (COM3 and COM4) are also available in Device Manager.
I went through and followed the clean uninstall and reinstall instructions and various other suggestions that I have already seen. For whatever reason, the Desktop Manager still won't see the BB. When going into Options in the Desktop Manager, it shows that USB is selected but still nothing under PIN.I am connected to the straight USB port on the back of the computer and have tried several there.
I am running the latest BB Desktop Software on my PC, "Version 5.0 Bundle 1137". It usually will NOT recognise my Bold 9000. I have tried most suggested measures, including closing Outlook opening the BB software. Perhaps going back to an older version of the desktop software?
my blackberry bold 9000 is not working.. i mean 2 days before it suddenly reboot and after that it wont start. its red light flash for 30 second then its tried to loading but in 10 seconds it reboots again and it is not starting. even when i tried to connect it with pc, it is not connecting with desktop manager. i am worried. i searched for all solutions but not getting any usefull information.
After looking thru all of the manuals and comparing icons I cannot find what the gold icon at the top which looks like the Internet is tell me. We spent an hour on the phone to AT&T support with no help. The icon is gold round with gridlines as latitude and longitude. The number "1" is beside it. It is at the top to the right of the email icon. I have a screen capture of it.
I have had my phone for a year in August and I love it, but when I finally have time to work with and learn, it is asking for a DEVICE PASSWORD. Where do I find the password for my desktop manager?
trying to figure out what to do. Please direct me in the right direction.
The desktop manager is asking for a pssword everrytime I connect my blackberry to my laptop. I have tried the passwords that I know I normally use, but now I am at the 9th attempt and not sure what will happen if I try one more time.
Hey guys, how do I get more application memory? I am down to the red zone, but funny thing is. I have a 4 gb micro sd and 898mb free for device memory. Is there anyway to allocate it somehow?
My application memory always comes down to 5-7 mb within a days usage(after hard re-boot, taking out battery stuff). I have only downloaded FB application and google maps. maps I use occassionaly while FB is always on. I have deleted all games but it doesnt help. Once application memory falls below 10mb handset slows down.
Using my desktop PC, I found an interesting application on URL... and I would like to get it working on my BB Bold 9000. I have never downloaded an app. I'm pritty new here. How do I get an app installed on my BB? Any reference to info on the web is also welcome.
