What is the easiest way to tether my berry to my laptop? I am a small business owner, and I often do work late at night in my truck, with no access to WiFi. I remember a long time ago seeing a thread on it, but I recall it being slightly complicated/using commant prompt.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have set up a WLAN access point on the phone to access the internet and email via my wireless modem/router.Problem is, once I make one internet connection, it doesn't allow me to make another or to connect to email, even after the first connection was closed.
If I delete the WLAN access point, I can access the internet and email no problem but I need to select the WLAN and enter the key first.Seems like a problem with my WLAN access point settings.
I got a new BB 9700 Bold yesterday and having problems with setting up the sync for the calendar and the contacts which are on my outlook. My hotmail email accounts are working okay. The outlook is on my PC and is the front face for my hotmail accounts.
When I go in to the BB Desktop device manager - version 5.0.1 (latest version) , I go in to the configure option on the left and it lets me click on calendar> then I select outlook and it then lets me select 'finish'. However at this stage an error box flashes up saying 'no available message stores'.
In addition when I check the wifi config on the calendar and contacts icons on the BB device it will not let me select yes on the wireless connection for them.
I had a curve, was able to use it with my laptop. Is there a way to use the bold so I can get internet on my laptop.?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am trying to make some sense out of the slow modem speeds I am getting on the 3G network. Below is a comparison between the different methods tried and the results. The SIM was transferred into a Sierra wireless card, then the speeds took off. All tests were tried at the same time of day, to the same servers, with IP header compression turned off for the BB connection, all on the 3G networks. I even tried a Rogers SIM for comparison where I could. Changing "modem speeds" on the link to the BB made no difference.
Normally I may just accept the differences, but I am looking to have about 25 users connect this way, to save on having a PCMCIA card or USB, as well as a separate data account. I have connected my notebook to the 9700 via Bluetooth and a USB 2.0 connection. My 9700 is connected to the Telus network, software version 5.0.0.442 (726)...
I signed up for the teathering service today. Supposedly, I can hook the usb cable in my cpu and the BB will work as a modem in places that I don't have a wireless connection??? The At&t cust service said if I plugged it in the computer would walk me through. No such luck.. Any help for a non techee type user.

Can do this with my Dell internal modem, but the company does not pay for long distance on my land line. Every thread I have read is always tethering for using to connect to the internet. I would imagine there are others who would like to do this.

I called Tmobile and was told that while they no longer support it, it could be done but that Tmobile would not provide me with directions to do so. I have a wireless modem for my desktop & wondering if I can use this to connect my phone to the web without purchasing data?
Do I need a data plan to send emails? Can I use my existing online email acct(yahoo), or do I need to set up a special one for the phone? If so, please explain where/how? I've had my BB 9700 for just over a month now, without having any issues whatsoever with the handset, my 9700 refuses to connect to my wireless home network, it finds the network, acquires an IP address, a displays the signal strength and connection speed , but looking at the Wi-Fi diagnostics on the BB there seems to be a problem with the Infrastructure, it attempts to connect and continuously fails.
I am using a Netgear DG934GT Router, running Firmware 1.03.23, all my other wireless devices (laptop, iPod Touch and PS3) connect fine to the wireless network, I have tried restarting the BlackBerry, and the router, this doesn't seem to solve the problem, I've also removed and re-added the wireless network to my BlackBerry, this has not solved my problem either. I am on T-Mobile and the BB is not unlocked or anything of that nature.
I recently moved and since then, I am experiencing now signal at my new house. I called TMO several times and they have issued several work tickets, all coming back saying there was a problem with the towers but has been resolved. I am still experiencing the same problem.
I was informed that I could get a wireless router for my home so I would get great signal. i would just have to hook it up to my computer and then whenever I am home, my phone will go through that for signal, hence giving me 5 bars as opposed to the 1 bar and constant switching between 3g, edge and gprs.
I guess I really don't understand how that works, what kind of router to by and if I will be charged anything extra from TMO for using that.

I started out with the problem that I cannot use internet or receive text/bbm/emails on my phone. I called Bell's tech support, and they had me download the new OS (which I had) and if that didn't work, use the security wipe.So, I did that.Now that my bold 9700 has been reset to the factory settings, I am trying to add my hotmail account back onto it so I can add my bbm contacts. However, when I try to go to the "email set up" my ONLY option is to add a work email account with the BES. Not at all what I want.As a side note, I also noticed that the "wireless update" option is now missing from the options menu. Also, my bb browser goes to the Bell mobile portal instead of the old homepage. Not a major issue, but just noticed the differences.

Talked to our IT group and they don't get why i wouldn't get wireless because we have "booster's" through out the facility.I went from a bb 8703e (which i had no issues with for 3yrs) to a bold 9700 _ love the phone but not if i can't retrieve emails, internet..etc.

My wireless synchronization with my gmail contacts stopped working. When I change a contact on my BB or in my gmail contacts the 2 don't get synchronized. They used to. I even get an email from BB telling me that it stopped and I should change to Yes in my contacts list under my gmail account, but after checking it is set up to Yes.
