BB Bold 9700 :: Analog Modem - Outlook As Contact Manager
Feb 10, 2010
I unfortunately use Outlook as my contact manager. I would like to tether my bold to the laptop and use it as a modem dialer. Can do this with my Dell internal modem, but the company does not pay for long distance on my land line. Every thread I have read is always tethering for using to connect to the internet. I would imagine there are others who would like to do this.
I've benn triyng to connect with my bold 9700 (ATT carrier) using the bb desktop manager but there's no "IP Modem" icon for it. I'm using version 5.0.1.28 Nov 11 2009.
When I connect other BB, I can see in the DM that there is a 6th icon called IP modem to connect as a wireless internet IP modem, but how come in my 9700 I can't do that?
Since this month, I have not been able to sync my BB calendar and contacts with my Yahoo account using the BB desktop manager. The process starts, but it never passes the address book part (it freezes and eventually crashes). I contacted Yahoo and they referred me to their Yahoo Intellisync. Which they don't support. I would switch to Google, but I recently changed my e-mail account; doing so one more time would be bad for business.
Amazing feature...now..not only can you backup your contacts as a BB file but you can save them on your PC as normal contacts which have full details (email, numbers, etc.)
You can download version 6 here >>> https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...247A852FAD3647
I have a 9700 Bold.I am running Oulook 2007 on my laptop. I have been synchronizing my contacts in Outlook with my 9700 without issue, using Blackberry Desktop Manager. However, I have now split my contacts within Outlook into two separate folders; one for my personal contacts and one for my business contacts. When I try to synchronize now manually, the Desktop Manager only reads my personal folder contacts and and asks to delete all my business contacts - which have been moved within Outlook out of that folder into the new business folder.Q. How can I set up a second, business, folder on my 9700 so that both folders will be synchronized when I next connect to the Desktop Manager?
I keep hearing that you can use the Bold as modem for your desktop. The T Mobile said that I need to download the App but I don't know where to get it.
What is the easiest way to tether my berry to my laptop? I am a small business owner, and I often do work late at night in my truck, with no access to WiFi. I remember a long time ago seeing a thread on it, but I recall it being slightly complicated/using commant prompt.
I am trying to make some sense out of the slow modem speeds I am getting on the 3G network. Below is a comparison between the different methods tried and the results. The SIM was transferred into a Sierra wireless card, then the speeds took off. All tests were tried at the same time of day, to the same servers, with IP header compression turned off for the BB connection, all on the 3G networks. I even tried a Rogers SIM for comparison where I could. Changing "modem speeds" on the link to the BB made no difference. Normally I may just accept the differences, but I am looking to have about 25 users connect this way, to save on having a PCMCIA card or USB, as well as a separate data account. I have connected my notebook to the 9700 via Bluetooth and a USB 2.0 connection. My 9700 is connected to the Telus network, software version 5.0.0.442 (726)...
I signed up for the teathering service today. Supposedly, I can hook the usb cable in my cpu and the BB will work as a modem in places that I don't have a wireless connection??? The At&t cust service said if I plugged it in the computer would walk me through. No such luck.. Any help for a non techee type user.
i want to connect my laptop to internet using my bb as a modem, i owe a 9700bolt and i downloaded blackberry deteskop menager and there should be a icon for it and its not there what should i do?
Can anyone help me? I am trying to tether my BB Bold 9700 to windows 7. I have unl data plan but not "tethering". My BB desktop software does not have the modem feature. Is there a way to do it? If so how?
I upgraded to new Desktop Manager - 6.47 and now I can't sych my organizer data.I always get a message that wireless sychronization is in place but when I check this is not true. There are not even options to synchronize - memo pad, contacts, and tasks on my device.I even shut off all wireless services and still no change. Can't get satisfaction for Blackberry so called support.
I got a new BB 9700 Bold yesterday and having problems with setting up the sync for the calendar and the contacts which are on my outlook. My hotmail email accounts are working okay. The outlook is on my PC and is the front face for my hotmail accounts.
When I go in to the BB Desktop device manager - version 5.0.1 (latest version) , I go in to the configure option on the left and it lets me click on calendar> then I select outlook and it then lets me select 'finish'. However at this stage an error box flashes up saying 'no available message stores'. In addition when I check the wifi config on the calendar and contacts icons on the BB device it will not let me select yes on the wireless connection for them.
I am having problem tethering my bold 9700 to my pc for use as a modem. I am on Tmobile service and am running Vista OS. I called Tmobile and was told that while they no longer support it, it could be done but that Tmobile would not provide me with directions to do so. Is there anyone out there that can give a technology challenged nerd like me step by step instructions to tether my 9700 to my pc with Windows vista. I have searched the forums and cannot find anything that fits what I need, instructions given are for other carriers than Tmobile and/or for Mac OS or Windows XP. I need info for Windows Vista OS, Tmobile carrier and 9700 blackberry. The blackberry desktop manager gives me the following error - unable to detect configured blackberry ip modem device. I have already verified that I do have a dial up modem and that it is working properly. Please help. I know that I can purchase TETHER and more than likely will but would like to learn to do this
I have Outlook 2007 on my desktop computer and use BT as a service provider and for my email, my Blackberry supplier is Vodafone and I use BIS.I have noticed that if my Blackberry receives an email first I don't get the same email delivered to my desktop. If my desktop gets an email first then the same email will be delivered to my Blackberry. I was happily deleting emails from my Blackberry thinking I would have them all on my desktop but I now find I have to check what emails I have on each before I delete anything. Is this an issue that anyone has come acrosss before and how do I resolve it apart from synching the Blackberry and desktop?I'm often away from the desktop which is why I bought the Blackberry in the first place.
The contacts in outlook have only my new contact info (1 contact) and the desktop and wireless software want to synchronize with this folder. The sync works between the two devises however it does not recognize the loads of contacts that are on my blackberry devise. I have tried all of the options on the advanced sync option to try toget outlook to download the contact from the Blackberry 9700. How do I get these two to synchronize?
I am with T-mobile with a Blackberry 9700 v5.0.0.330 (Platform 5.1.0.91)
I am having difficulty syncing my device to my computer.
I am running Vista 32 bit on a Dell Inspiron 1525.
I have downloaded Desktop Manager 5.0.1 B49 MultiLanguage - Without Media Manager successfully and downloaded the latest version (I have seen elsewhere that this version is suggested for the bold 9700).
My computer recognizes the device but from the Found New Hardware prompt as a RIM Composite Device but In the desktop manager it says that there is no device plugged in.
I have also turned on media card support and mass storeage mode.
I cannot find the appropriate driver through the device manager either.
I did a couple battery pulls and connection re-tries in different usb ports.
When i run the desktop manager setup file, the installation process begins, and shows me a dialogue box that says 'pending .net framework' and i hit install to let it start. It goes through a couple of dialogue boxes and after like 5 mins, an error appears saying 'this requires that .net 3.5 sp1 shouild be installed' and i hit finish and it is exited.
Why does desktop manager not allow you to delete off applications you aren't going to use? The ones I'm specifically wanting to delete are in the downloads folder-mobile video, community, music apps, my-cast weather, MobiTV, MusicID, and XMradio. I'd like to get rid of these to free up some space for other applications I will use.
I have a Blackberry 9700 phone which has been working fine up until today when I decided to load the "Blackberry User Tools" software onto my P.C. at home. After successful installation and machine restart, I was asked to enter my "Device Password". Assuming this would be my password I set originally to lock my phone I entered it and found this didn't work. I subsequently attempted a number of other logical permutations but then realised that if I continued I would lock my phone. So I stopped (at 8/10 tries) and called my service provider "Orange UK" who advised they couldn't help me and that if I continued to enter the incorrect code, it would wipe my phone as it would automatically reset! When I connected via USB last time, it asked for me to enter the word "blackberry" which I did but when it then asked me to enter my password (which I assumed was the four digit numerical code I had originally set the phone with) it failed to work. I am now left with two further attempts. Please can anyone assist by advising me what I can do to overcome the problem without wiping my phone as the contents are very important to me.
I have just bought my first Blackberry.I have downloaded the desk top manager.I am trying to insert a new signature to my emails. There is no email option on the desk top manager.Would anyone know why?
About 3 weeks ago I had to switch from a Curve to the 9700. I used the switch device wizard to do this with no problems on my home laptop. Since then I have backed up the 9700 to my laptop but when I went to do this today, the device is not recognized by my laptop. I have tried just about everything with no luck. I thought the issue may be my cable and/or USB port but I actually connected my old Curve to the laptop and it immediately was recognized. I also have been synching the 9700 on my work PC and drove into the office today to see if I could do so..it worked without any problems. I am therefore not sure by the 9700 won't now connect to my laptop. Any ideas from anyone as to what I should be doing or what the problem is? I uninstalled and reinstalled the desktop manager application twice thinking that may be the problem but it has not resolved the issue. As an aside, I have gotten a message appearing on the 9700 saying that the USB connection does not have sufficient power to charge the device. I then acknowledge the message and it shows it is charging so I am not sure what that is...
I would like to sync my MS Outlook contact list to my phone but to do this my computer tells me I need to turn of Wireless Syncronisation. I have followed all the steps a million times and searched my entire phone, there is no mention of wireless synchronization in any of the menus.
