What is the easiest way to tether my berry to my laptop? I am a small business owner, and I often do work late at night in my truck, with no access to WiFi. I remember a long time ago seeing a thread on it, but I recall it being slightly complicated/using commant prompt.
Am using a Bold 9700 os v18.104.22.1684 with DM v22.214.171.124 (Aug 21, 2009) on my notebook running vista 32bit When I click on the IP icon on the DM, I get this error message below: "Unable to detect configured Blackberry IP modem device. Please verify your desktop installation is configured correctly and restart the desktop." Tried installing and uninstalling many many times but to no avail. Can anyone out there shed some light?
I have set up a WLAN access point on the phone to access the internet and email via my wireless modem/router.Problem is, once I make one internet connection, it doesn't allow me to make another or to connect to email, even after the first connection was closed.
If I delete the WLAN access point, I can access the internet and email no problem but I need to select the WLAN and enter the key first.Seems like a problem with my WLAN access point settings.

I have an issue with my e72-1 at the moment. It's either the phone, the ovi software.I have the following: Nokia e72 < acts as modem via cable or bluetooth > laptop..When it acts over modem via either cable or bluetooth, I can only access certain sites eg.I can't access google, or msn messenger for instance I can access wikipedia, and my ISPs website as an example.Originally I thought it was because it was only able to access australian servers, but this isn't the case. My browser just seems unable to get a connection to certain sites/servers ever - it times out when i try to view google - but only when my phone is the link to the internet. On the phone, I can access every site/server that I want. But not on my laptop via the phone. When I'm on another internet connection (home or work etc), I have no issues connecting to those sites/servers from my laptop.Browsing google over other connections has not helped me find a solution yet. The connection to the net is stable - it doesn't drop out and can remain connected indefinitely.I'm running:
Laptop version: windows7, with ovi 126.96.36.199
Phone version: 031.023
The results have been the same on earlier versions of the phone and ovi software. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am trying to make some sense out of the slow modem speeds I am getting on the 3G network. Below is a comparison between the different methods tried and the results. The SIM was transferred into a Sierra wireless card, then the speeds took off. All tests were tried at the same time of day, to the same servers, with IP header compression turned off for the BB connection, all on the 3G networks. I even tried a Rogers SIM for comparison where I could. Changing "modem speeds" on the link to the BB made no difference. Normally I may just accept the differences, but I am looking to have about 25 users connect this way, to save on having a PCMCIA card or USB, as well as a separate data account. I have connected my notebook to the 9700 via Bluetooth and a USB 2.0 connection. My 9700 is connected to the Telus network, software version 188.8.131.522 (726)...
I signed up for the teathering service today. Supposedly, I can hook the usb cable in my cpu and the BB will work as a modem in places that I don't have a wireless connection??? The At&t cust service said if I plugged it in the computer would walk me through. No such luck.. Any help for a non techee type user.
Can anyone help me? I am trying to tether my BB Bold 9700 to windows 7. I have unl data plan but not "tethering". My BB desktop software does not have the modem feature. Is there a way to do it? If so how?
I unfortunately use Outlook as my contact manager. I would like to tether my bold to the laptop and use it as a modem dialer. Can do this with my Dell internal modem, but the company does not pay for long distance on my land line. Every thread I have read is always tethering for using to connect to the internet. I would imagine there are others who would like to do this.
I am having problem tethering my bold 9700 to my pc for use as a modem. I am on Tmobile service and am running Vista OS. I called Tmobile and was told that while they no longer support it, it could be done but that Tmobile would not provide me with directions to do so. Is there anyone out there that can give a technology challenged nerd like me step by step instructions to tether my 9700 to my pc with Windows vista. I have searched the forums and cannot find anything that fits what I need, instructions given are for other carriers than Tmobile and/or for Mac OS or Windows XP. I need info for Windows Vista OS, Tmobile carrier and 9700 blackberry. The blackberry desktop manager gives me the following error - unable to detect configured blackberry ip modem device. I have already verified that I do have a dial up modem and that it is working properly. Please help. I know that I can purchase TETHER and more than likely will but would like to learn to do this
I just got the phone and I want to connect to the internet via wifi. I tried to go on but it can't seem to find my wireless modem. Can someone please help me? I really want to download some apps for it!
I'm trying to use my wife's 8530 as a wireless modem for my laptop. Data plan turned on through Koodo - fine. Run BB desktop, connect the phone, select wireless internet - get a message that "the radio is not turned on"..
Have a new 8310. OS is v184.108.40.206 Platform 220.127.116.11I'm in Australia, currently with Telstra but in the process of changing.I have not purchased a data plan for the phone. I have a wireless modem for my desktop & wondering if I can use this to connect my phone to the web without purchasing data?
Do I need a data plan to send emails? Can I use my existing online email acct(yahoo), or do I need to set up a special one for the phone? If so, please explain where/how? If not, what other info do I need to configure the existing one? It seems I need a PIN as well as e-addy & password(& assuming it's the yahoo password?)

I rang them to ask and they told me t'd cost me a bomb. But is that just because they had the chance to throw a charge at me?Would they know by the type or amount of data being used or by any other way?I have a BB Bolt on (unlimited BB usage) on my contract!
