When I connect other BB, I can see in the DM that there is a 6th icon called IP modem to connect as a wireless internet IP modem, but how come in my 9700 I can't do that?

View 8 Replies View RelatedAm using a Bold 9700 os v5.0.0.344 with DM v5.0.1.18 (Aug 21, 2009) on my notebook running vista 32bit When I click on the IP icon on the DM, I get this error message below: "Unable to detect configured Blackberry IP modem device. Please verify your desktop installation is configured correctly and restart the desktop." Tried installing and uninstalling many many times but to no avail. Can anyone out there shed some light?

If I delete the WLAN access point, I can access the internet and email no problem but I need to select the WLAN and enter the key first.Seems like a problem with my WLAN access point settings.

It's either the phone, the ovi software.I have the following: Nokia e72 < acts as modem via cable or bluetooth > laptop..When it acts over modem via either cable or bluetooth, I can only access certain sites eg.I can't access google, or msn messenger for instance
I can access wikipedia, and my ISPs website as an example.Originally I thought it was because it was only able to access australian servers, but this isn't the case. My browser just seems unable to get a connection to certain sites/servers ever - it times out when i try to view google - but only when my phone is the link to the internet.On the phone, I can access every site/server that I want. But not on my laptop via the phone. When I'm on another internet connection (home or work etc), I have no issues connecting to those sites/servers from my laptop.Browsing google over other connections has not helped me find a solution yet. The connection to the net is stable - it doesn't drop out and can remain connected indefinitely.I'm running:
Laptop version: windows7, with ovi 2.2.0.241
Phone version: 031.023
The results have been the same on earlier versions of the phone and ovi software. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I keep hearing that you can use the Bold as modem for your desktop. The T Mobile said that I need to download the App but I don't know where to get it.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am trying to make some sense out of the slow modem speeds I am getting on the 3G network. Below is a comparison between the different methods tried and the results. The SIM was transferred into a Sierra wireless card, then the speeds took off. All tests were tried at the same time of day, to the same servers, with IP header compression turned off for the BB connection, all on the 3G networks. I even tried a Rogers SIM for comparison where I could. Changing "modem speeds" on the link to the BB made no difference.
Normally I may just accept the differences, but I am looking to have about 25 users connect this way, to save on having a PCMCIA card or USB, as well as a separate data account. I have connected my notebook to the 9700 via Bluetooth and a USB 2.0 connection. My 9700 is connected to the Telus network, software version 5.0.0.442 (726)...
I signed up for the teathering service today. Supposedly, I can hook the usb cable in my cpu and the BB will work as a modem in places that I don't have a wireless connection??? The At&t cust service said if I plugged it in the computer would walk me through. No such luck.. Any help for a non techee type user.

Can do this with my Dell internal modem, but the company does not pay for long distance on my land line. Every thread I have read is always tethering for using to connect to the internet. I called Tmobile and was told that while they no longer support it, it could be done but that Tmobile would not provide me with directions to do so. I have problem for connecting N79 to PC I use OVI Suite version 2.2.0.245. when i connect PC to internet via OVI suite for first time , there isnt any problem and connects to internet and all webpages completely are loaded , but after a few minutes my browser doesnt work and doesnt load any page and shows " server not found". but the connection between the PC and mobile still exists. after that i disconnect the connection and reconnect but this time the connection doesnt establish and shows an error with the content of "PPP link". after that i go to "device manager" and disable the Nokia GSM Modem and then enable that. then i connect PC to internet via OVI Suite with no problem AGAIN!. there isnt any problem for loading page But AGAIN after some minutes the browser doesnt work ! recently I reinstalled windows XP, but still nothing changes!. even i use latest Nokia Connectivity cable driver version 7.1.31.0. my cellphone has RM-348

How do I provide modem software/functionality to the users but NOT installing the Nokia PC Suite or Ovi.Our E series devices sync with MfE with Exchange. Our Windows laptops are blocked for software installations.
