BB Bold 9700 :: Unable To See IP Modem To Connect As A Wireless Internet IP Modem In Device
May 30, 2010When I connect other BB, I can see in the DM that there is a 6th icon called IP modem to connect as a wireless internet IP modem, but how come in my 9700 I can't do that?

Jan 12, 2010Just bought a device and found that I cannot connect to the home WiFi internet. It's terribly sad, because the main reason of buying this product was exactly i-net. When I connect it asks me to input "preliminary" (?) PSK code. Then it tells me that PSK key is wrong. I can connect using Nokia 5800, PSP, both laptops and my PocketLOOX 570, but N900 cannot. Even if I go to "set up coneections", and go step by step. It can see the wireless itself, no problem. when I set up identification, I choose WPA-PSK (is it correct?) and print in the key. Then same story happen. It cannot connect , and says "connection error", or something like that. That's it. What am I doing wrong there?

Aug 13, 2010I have a problem with a new blackberry bold 9700 i have just bought. I live in bolivia and i purchased this phone, asked in the store if it is compatible with my network etc and we tested with my sim. It worked fine for calls and got a 3g signal.When i returned home I tried configuring the internet access andn could not get this to work. So today i took it to my provider and asked a tech to configure and he said that i must first buy a "plan blackberry" for it to work - ok i said ad went to change my plan to plan blackberry - but after i had this the tried to set it up and then tell me that the phone is locked to only use at & t blackberry service.
So my questions are ..
1. - is this true?
2. can i unlock this somehow?
seems unfair that i have paid full price for a phone that is tied to a network that doesn't exist in my country - it was imported legally - if i cannot change it.

Our Windows laptops are blocked for software installations. So to install company wide 100 MB of Ovi software on the Windows laptops is a bridge too far, but I want provide our laptop users the modem functionality (UMTS, HSDPA) of the E series in combination woth a laptop if no Wifi, Hotspot or Ethernet network is avialable.Is there a modem app available for E Series devices, which can be installed on laptops?

Jul 27, 2010I have a portable device (Archos 5 UInternet Tablet) that uses the Android operating system.I want to tether the blackberry and use it as a modem via a Bluetooth connection. I've been onto the BB site and the instructions there speak only of Windows and Mac operating systems. I can pair the BB to the Archos but it won't connect and the Archos reports that the BB will not support tethering.Can anyone help me fix this?

Apr 15, 2010Am using a Bold 9700 os v5.0.0.344 with DM v5.0.1.18 (Aug 21, 2009) on my notebook running vista 32bit When I click on the IP icon on the DM, I get this error message below: "Unable to detect configured Blackberry IP modem device. Please verify your desktop installation is configured correctly and restart the desktop." Tried installing and uninstalling many many times but to no avail. Can anyone out there shed some light?

Apr 21, 2010I am trying to make some sense out of the slow modem speeds I am getting on the 3G network. Below is a comparison between the different methods tried and the results. The SIM was transferred into a Sierra wireless card, then the speeds took off. All tests were tried at the same time of day, to the same servers, with IP header compression turned off for the BB connection, all on the 3G networks. I even tried a Rogers SIM for comparison where I could. Changing "modem speeds" on the link to the BB made no difference.
Normally I may just accept the differences, but I am looking to have about 25 users connect this way, to save on having a PCMCIA card or USB, as well as a separate data account. I have connected my notebook to the 9700 via Bluetooth and a USB 2.0 connection. My 9700 is connected to the Telus network, software version 5.0.0.442 (726)...

Apr 6, 2010I signed up for the teathering service today. Supposedly, I can hook the usb cable in my cpu and the BB will work as a modem in places that I don't have a wireless connection??? The At&t cust service said if I plugged it in the computer would walk me through. No such luck.. Any help for a non techee type user.

Apr 11, 2012I have a hotmail account, with MS Outlook, through Century Link ISP. After I set up the account on my new iPhone 4s (using the Hotmail option for adding an account), I discovered that deleting emails on the phone deleted the emails from the server as well. Doing some checking on-line, I read that you could select the Advanced option, and then specify "never" delete emails on the server. However, my hotmail account on the iPhone doesn't have an Advanced option. I talked to Apple support, deleted the account and re-added it using the Other option (vs. Hotmail). I was then able to see the Advanced option. However, I no longer have the option to Sync calendars, contacts or reminders.
